one of the best and legit korean restaurants out there!masil is owned by a korean who married a pinoy. the owner was very hands-on and she speaks filipino fluently. many koreans eat here both for lunch and dinner and as for my experience i'll be listing them below:

the staff here are very attentive and accommodating. if you don't know which toorderthey will proactively assist you.

my number 1 favorite here aside from their tender and very very flavorful premium short ribs would be the gyeran jjim (steamed eggs) priced at only p150! their version is a bit on the soupy end compared to most korean restaurants that only serve it dry. it's really good and kind of like resembles chawanmushi. the galbi jjim also known as korean beef stew (p490) was very good and would make you eat more white rice. i highly recommend that youordertheir set menus so you can sample their bestsellers all in one set.

premium set a is p3,800 (good for 4) and this one already has 6 meat viands plus plain 4 pcs plain rice and a korean-style spring onion pancake.

premium set b is p3,300 (good for 4) and this one also has 6 meat viands plus some japchae and 4 pcs plain rice

all sets are served with side dishes and salad. not refillable though.

love this place! lots of sides and even steamed egg. perfect for the kids.

we alwaysordersamgyupsal because the kids love it so much. the others we would just choose based one our mood but everything is always nice. we also like the gimbap and capjae

however we dont fancy the gingseng chicken soup because we feel the cooking style is different to the ones we had in korea and other country. maybe just us though..

but anything else is always nice.

their facebook page says it's open until 9pm. i call to make sure and they say it's open until 8.45, and lastorderis at 8. we arrive at 7.55, the restaurant is already closed, and despite informing the personnel that it's not yet 8pm, they said the kitchen is already cleaned. went all the way there and paid for the parking for nothing, very lazy and unprofessional.

food 5, ambience 5, price 4, service 4: it’s a solid 4.5. so far, it’s probably the best korean restaurant we’ve experienced. what we loved about the menu is the availability of cheaper cuts to the more expensive cuts. so if you are scared of the usual samgyupsal fatty cuts, go for the more expensive ones to really enjoy the food. don’t come here just toorderthe cheap korean all you can eat cuts. but even when we ordered the more expensive cuts, it felt like a buffet. we ate all the barbecues and took home the japche, beef stew, and beef ribs soup. the servings are indeed generous. as for the price, you have to pay for quality cuts. the place was clean and not stuffy despite everyone cooking. as for service, it took a while to be served and a friendlier cook would have been better. anyway, it was a busy lunch. but overall experience was great and worth returning to.

i love going to this place whenever i feel like eating gimbap. they have the best. their variety of side dishes is astonishing. it changes every time we eat here and you'll be full by the side dishes alone. 😂 we also usuallyorderhaemul pajeon (seafood pancake). their dolsot bibimbap (bibimbap in hotpot) is very good especially when the rice gets scorched. highly recommended. it's best to have reservation during lunch or dinner time because the place usually gets full and has a long line of waiting list.

🐽 food: i love the chadol-bagi beef strips. if youordermeat, it comes with the different appetizers and veggies already. i love their dolsot bibimbap too. the steamed egg is the best! it’s making me crave as i type this. haha for dessert, they offer a variety of korean ice cream. melona - melon flavor is my favorite. masil is my favorite korean restaurant in manila.

🍹 drinks: try their soju.

🍴ambiance: good place for families and group of friends. it will entice you to eat (and talk) a lot!

👫 service: servers will cook the meat in front of you. you have the option to have it cooked in the kitchen. serving time is very quick!

💸 price: value for money. meals are good for sharing.

korean food is so popular in brisbane, and it’s no surprise that it’s even more popular in manila. i wanted to compare how they do kbbq here so some friends suggested masil, and off we went in a group of 6.

i was warned that it gets really busy, but we waited for 1.5 hours- a bit too long if you ask me. during this time staff came out to the waiting area sporadically updating a board with the meats they have left (seat us already or we won’t have any food left to eat!!).

the good news is that once we were seated, it didn’t take long for us toorderand for all the food to slowly start coming out. we ended up with two sets and a few sides, with plates eventually filling up the whole table. the meats were buttery and tender, with the marinated ones evenly coated and not overly salty. definitely an enjoyable meal!

in comparison to kbbq in brisbane, masil in manila offers more options, has better quality meats, and is better value.. just not sure if i’m ever prepared to wait that long again.

my favorite korean place in town! but they have minimumorderfor banchan refills and allows only up to 2 refills thats why i only gave 4 stars. but quality of meat and food are the best. the ambiance is also very clean and upscale compared to other korean restaurants around 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

masil in tiendesitas gets really busy even for an early dinner so be ready to wait for a table. it just shows how popular this korean bbq place is.

things to like about masil and this branch...

1. easy parking. you have the whole tiendesitas to park in. eventhough the oranbo branch has free parking, it gets full. so if you don't mind the php40 parking fee, go to this branch.

2. they were serving iced sweet plum tea for those waiting for their table. patience is a virtue.

3. all of their banchan sidedishes are very good. then you get dishes of steamed egg and tofu chili soup.

4. service is fast! they have to do this for a fast turn-over of tables.

5. get the bbq meats! we always get the sam gyeop sal (pork belly, php330) and chadol bagi (beef brisket, php390).

6. keep the charcoal grill on low heat after they cook the meats. don't let them take it yet. it's good to have it to reheat the meats right before you wrap or eat them.

7.orderthe jokbal, pork leg cooked like a patatim, served cold and sliced/deboned. they serve this with thinly sliced fruits and vegetables and a spicy mustard dressing.

food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
their samgyupsal had this soft yet chewy texture. the slice was a bit thicker compared to other samgyupsals i have eaten before so it was surprising to have that texture from that kind of cut. it was also charcoal grilled so the flavor had this very strong grilled flavor - if that makes any sense 😅 we also ordered the budae jigae - their sausage stew with ramen noodles and unlike other korean ramens i have had, their level of spiciness was fixed so you will have a “burnt” tongue from eating their ramen whether you like spicy food or not. and i did not like their sausage btw, it had this cheap feel to it. it tasted like it was all texturized vegggie protein and not sausage-like.

price: ⭐️⭐️
for the samgyupsal, ok price and appropriate for the quantity. for the ramen, it was quite expensive - 800 for a pot! it only had a single serving of noodle and like i said above, the sausage was not worth that kind of amount.
oh, the banchans can be refilled maximum twice only. the lettuce leaves were not even allowed for refill which was a bit of a letdown given that the meat was quite a big serving. meat>lettuce, not balance

atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
just a bit crowded interior but still a very cosy place with comfortable chairs and table, adequate exhausts, very good lighting, clean restrooms, nice waiting area. good ambience overall.

service:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
like all korean restos i have been into, most of the owners are hands-on on their businesses and it was quite nice actually to be welcomed by an authentic korean into their restaurant. of course, there were the polite waiters and waitresses as well who will cook yourorderon your table (minimum 2 for grilling orders), serve and refill banchans, take your photo, and will then bill you 🤣

masil is my go-to-place for casual dine in korean food. it serves your all time favorite korean dishes and bbq grilling is done by your assigned server. beef, pork or any item on the menu are of good quality and authentic. ordering is a breeze too. soup is part of your side dish when youorderfrom the bbq grill on top of the usual kimchi and other fermented vegetables. on the downside, refill of side dishes is limited to one, while the soup and egg are non-refillable. nevertheless, you will still have a good meal.

if you're used to korean buffet, you will find masil expensive. average price per person is php400 without drinks. however, with its good quality of food and fast service, paying this much is good value for me. do take note that it's minimum of two mains for the bbq grill. a little unfriendly for those on a diet or solo diners.

call to reserve if dining as a group. line can get nasty on peak days like weekends and holidays. do try masil for authentic korean dishes.

i had always been a fan of masil in oranbo. however, our first time dining here (ugong branch) was a real disappointment.

there's a minimumorderif you want unlimited side dishes. this is quite understandable so we complied with it. but, after our second refill, it is already quite difficult to request more because the staffs kept on "forgetting" our requests. also, they wouldn't want to refill our lettuce. what's the point of the minimumorderwhen the restaurant doesn't really want to serve unlimited side dishes?

second, staffs are rude. aside from the slow service, staffs are impolite.

lastly, despite their prices going up, their serving size were now smaller. also, the meats had too much fat.

i will never come back to this branch. i will try to come back to oranbo branch to see if the restaurant had changed in its ways.

its my second time to be here.
> food is delicious. we ordered bulgogi jeongol and its really delicious but i just noticed that the presentation was nicer if you are with a korean person coz the first time i went here i am with four of my korean bosses. side dishes are also good (except for their veggie salad which doesnt fit our taste, their salad dressing tastes like a normal sandwich mayo which you dont usually use as salad dressing). ourorderis good for 2-3 persons (if your really not a heavy eater) and just add on plain rice if you are a rice person.
free hot coffee/tea before you leave the resto (its that vendo near the front door where kuya guard is posted, you can ask kuya guard for assistance) i love the aroma of their free peach black tea. /i dont drink coffee btw so i haven't tried it/
>staff is friendly and always smiling, even kuya guard. you can also ask them to take your photos and they know how to find good angle 😋
>fast service (even bill out transaction - which usually takes time for some resto, they even proactively offer to or your receipts for possible reimbursements)
>ambiance is good. even their outside patio is nice.

always have a sweet spot for korean food in my heart. so i was really excited to try our this authentic and highly praised korean barbecue place.

unlike other korean bbq places, their food isn't buffet style. our orders got us up to 2 refills of side dishes (total of 3). all of the meat were really tender and really good.
-saeng galbi - premium beef short ribs - 250g perorder- p880 (my personal favorite!!)
-yangnyeom galbi - premium beef short ribs marinated in special sweet sauce - 250g perorder- p770 (best seller)
-la galbi - laterally sliced premium beef short ribs marinated in special sweet sauce - 250g perorder- p660
-galbi jim - tender beef ribs in sweet sauce also known as korean beef stew - p490 (was really flavorful. one of the crowd favorites in the table.)
-japchae - potato noodles sauteed with vegetables and pork - p330 (had a big serving and was really good)
-doenjang jjgae - bean paste soup - p300 (great palette cleanser from all the meat you're gonna eat!)
-gyeran jjim - steamed eggs (soup) - p150 (first time to try this dish. was really good! a definite must try if you like eggs. it's served really hot on a bowl and it has that really fluffy texture)

masil set a - p2,400
again, all of the meats were up par, everything handpicked from the market to make sure they're of great quality.
-galbisal - beef rib finger 160g perorder- p550 (my other favorite. it's simple, but it's simplicity kind of "hits home" that warm feeling i get when i eat great korean food.
-masil bulgogi - beef brisket marinated in house sweet sauce 180g perorder- p490
-chadol-bagi -thinly sliced beef brisket 180g perorder- p390
-yuk hoe - fresh beef tartare in sesame oil based sauce - p450 (first time to try raw meat! it was surprisingly familiar though. it kind of felt like eating raw fish / sushi. would definitely try again!)
-haemul pajeon - korean style spring onion pancake with seafood - p350 (i love korean seafood pancakes. this one had lots of fresh seafood in it so i was really pleased.)

my favorite side dishes were of course, kimchi (they were fresh and crunchy), the marble potatoes and their anchovies.

they're a bit more expensive than other korean barbecue places, but the price is justified by their taste and quality, as evident by the number of korean folks eating there!

we're craving for korean food and it's a good thing that we found this restaurant that's really close to my brother's workplace at tiendesitas. masil charcoal grill really satisfied our craving with their authentic korean taste of their food. we just love it. ❤️

they serve a wide variety of ban chan (side dishes) like kimchi; sautéed sayote and spinach; stir-fried anchovies; stir-fried peanut in soy sauce; steamed tofu and green salad with dressing. they refill their ban chan up to 2 servings.

they also have set meals that will surely satisfy the appetite of a group of 4. they offer premium quality meat and it's really scrumptious. i really love their yangnyeom galbi, la galbi and my favorite, the masil bulgogi. any fan of korean food would be delighted in this haven.

it's also best to cap off this delectable meal with their refreshing cold tea.

you can visit them in 2 locations: one in tiendesitas and the other one in oranbo drive. the ambiance and service is also very notable.

here's some in their menu and the prices:
