there appears to be 2 shops in marrickville that go by this name, both on the same street. this one is bigger and doesn’t appear as popular as its namesake a little further down the street, which is smaller but had a queue. it may be owned by the same folks, who knows.. anyway the reviews on this place looked good so i assumed this was the place i was looking for.
that said, they make a pretty good chicken roll here. the thing i like is that they don’t hold back with the filling, it’s probably the most densely packed viet roll i’ve ever had - great value for money. all the ingredients work together in harmony, with just enough chilli and pate to excite the tastebuds.

i was told that these pork rolls are crazy! in my opinion, the fillings were nice because there was a generous amount but the roll itself can have improvements!

flavour is good but hygiene is compromised. the lady wore gloves to prepare the rolls then used the same gloved hand to take money then continued to serve the next customer without change of glove. great taste but hesitantly have to accept the compromised hygiene in food handling.

this very small shop in marckville is so famous in sydney for their banh mi. before arriving in sydney i didn’t even know what was a banh mi but after trying it that’s true hat it can be very good…but also not very good is the quality of the meat is not nice. but for 5$ in the shop you get such a good pork roll with or without chilli and you have different type of meat (pork, bbq pork, chicken…i don’t be afraid by the queue in front of shop, they are so fast to make their sandwiches that you will never wait a long time and it really worse it ! one of the best in sydney so far.

quite simply the best bahn mi you will ever have. and i've tried bourdain's recommendation in hoi an. forget hong ha in mascot, the pate here eclipses them. oh and they bake their own bread in house.

if you hate yourself ask for fresh chilli and chilli sauce 👌🏽

i'm going to go get one now.

this is tied first place for the best pork roll on earth. not an opinion. that's a fact. the other is nhu lan in footscray but i'm not going to drive 10 hours for a pork roll. not today anyway.

this one is faultless, no matter what you actually order.

i love this place. i'm willing to move to marrickville because of it. it has more variety than hong ha tastes more authentic. the bread was crispy and the pickled vegetable is crunchy.

i love banh mis, so i wanted to try some of the best in sydney and trekked out to marrickville just to try them here. we had the pork and bbq pork rolls. they are so inexpensive considering they are bursting full of ingredients. they drizzle a liquid sauce on it that filled up our paper bags while we were eating, so you've been warned. they're pretty good, but it would've been so much better if the buns were warm. i was expecting a different type of bbq pork, rather than the hot pink flat piece of meat they use.

i came here on a queen's birthday public holiday morning around 9am to avoid the crowds and lines, and it worked, there was nobody there and i didn't have to wait! i ordered a pork roll and a bbq pork roll, and a can of drink.

the bbq pork roll uses nem nuong, which is a vietnamese grilled pork, and i love nem nuong so i was looking forward to trying this roll. i loved how their bbq pork had that beautiful bright pinky-red colour that nem nuong has, unlike some other places where it's a little more brown than pink. it's packed and delicious, every bite tasted full of flavour, right down to the last bite, and the salad was crisp and fresh. the bbq pork itself was perhaps slightly on the salty side, but it wasn't too much of a problem for me, especially as i had a drink to go with it.

but the pork roll was the main attraction that i came for, and it was every bit as good as the hype that i'd heard about it. it had so much flavour and i got a good bite of everything in every single bite, it wasn't lacking in one ingredient while being plentiful in another like some pork rolls i've had. i had the pork roll with chilli, and unlike some shops, they use a chilli sauce/paste instead of fresh chillies. for me, i can't eat a lot of chilli, and as they didn't use fresh chilli, i couldn't pick any out, and my mouth was on fire but it was well worth it still. (my friend loves chilli, which is why we ordered the pork roll with chilli.)

apart from the strong flavours and delicious freshness and amount of the ingredients, the bread roll itself was beautiful, it was crispy without being too hard and cutting into the roof of my mouth, and it was soft on the inside, but not too thick inside, so i didn't feel like i was eating a whole lot of dry bread.

the service was great, they ticked everything; they were very fast, efficient, polite, and quite friendly. everything was very cheap, the rolls were $5 each and the can of drink was only $1.

tip: if you can, get there early in the morning and have this for breakfast, it's perfect and cheap, and you won't have to wait in line for ages. also, in my opinion, the chilli sauce/paste they use is quite hot, and if you get it, it'll be in every single bite, right down to the end, so get a drink to help combat that heat.
