i usually make an effort to visit this place after surfing down the coast. i work up an appetite and sometimes down 2 pork bahn mi in the blink of an eye. this little gem does the best pork bahn mi i have tried so far. my favourite is the bbq pork roll. with a crisp roll lathered with pate and mayo, stuffed with a variety of fresh salad and topped with a bbq pork type sausage. they add their seasoning which increases the flavour. agreatcheap eat.

definitely not the best pork roll in sydney, but probably the most well known, other places within a few minutes walk are cheaper and better. but line up like lemmings if you must, just so you can say you have 'been here'. there's nothing wrong with the place, it wasgreatmany years ago when not that many people knew about it .. but as always happens with these places, once they get a 'name', the prices go up, quality goes down..  their pork rolls these days are average at best, they're just living off their reputation they earned many years ago..

great little vietnamese pork roll restaurant. they have amazing service and they keep it going very quickly. you should spend no longer than 2 minutes at this place and 5 at the max if they are busy. the staff have years of expertise and are professional and efficient. of course the food isgreatas well. there are a large variety of flavours to pick from and they only use the best freshest ingredients. best pork roll shop in sydney.

good value, greattasting pork rolls. love the variety. fresh crunchy rolls. unfortunately, if you buy just the roll from their other business where they are baked you get treated badly if you ask for a receipt and in a few hours the rolls are tough and have totally lost their fresh crunch

this is by far the best banh mi/vietnamese pork roll shop in sydney. i am from cabramatta myself and trying out almost all the banh mi shops in both cabramatta and bankstown, i can assure you this banh mi shop will blow you away. the balance is just perfect. the first bite you take, you get a balance of the freshly baked bread, the delicious vietnamese ham pork, the beautiful vegetable and the chilli which gives it agreatkick. to be honest, all the banh mi shops in cabramatta and bankstown all taste the same and somewhat generic to me, but marrickville knows how to construct agreatand memorable banh mi thit.

for what they serve, the price, the quantity and the super quick service, this place is impressive. they really pack the bread roll (which tasted super fresh, crispy outside, soft inside) full of ingredients. the ingredients themselves also tasted really fresh and delicious.greatcombination of pickled veges, meat and fresh salad. i tried the traditional pork roll and crispy roast pork roll. had a slight preference for the crispy roast pork one.

from meters away, you can already see a line for marrickville pork roll—the best banh mi in sydney.

***
location:
it’s not difficult to find because of the line during lunch time. just take note that it’s just a stall, and there are no seats.

food:
i always get the pork banh mi with a little bit of spice. it’s only $5—agreatdeal for how big their serving is. it’s packed with meat, fresh veggies and heaps of pate and mayo. i like pairing this meal with vietnamese coffee from just around the corner.

service:
they prepare your banh mi in under a minute. really quick!

***

they only accept cash so make sure to bring some. worth the drive!

wonderful pork rolls! the meatball roll is also great. they absolutely deserve their stellar reputation.

i used to struggle to find a place to sit and eat these, and then i discovered a shaded outdoor seating near the post office down the road which is agreatspot to enjoy these delicious pork rolls.

i’m not a big pork eater but i do eat chicken and when i feel like a chicken roll i definitely head to marrickville. the constant queue outside this tiny hole on the wall is a testimony to just howgreatthe rolls are.

the best pork roll i've ever had in my life (i've been eating ones from cabramatta since i could walk). this is about the closest you can get to the most perfect pork roll in sydney.

let's start with the bun, a typically overlooked but crucially essential part. a good one is fresh and crispy on the outside while being soft on the inside, yet not overly hard. they have it spot on.

the pate and mayo spread is mouthwateringly rich, smooth and savoury. savour the bits that have it spread in excess. (tip - you can also buy their pate in a take home tub... you're welcome).

the veggies are crispy and fresh, the shredded carrots are pickled to perfection.

the sliced meats are agreataccompaniment that add to the body of the pork roll. i particularly love that the red pork is shredded so that it is always with you with each bite (some other places just put in the whole strip that too easily gets dragged out with a bite). 5/5 for thoughtfulness.

the sauce just tops it off. it is no ordinary soy sauce, it is reminiscent of a roast duck flavoured soy sauce typically found from chinese butchers.

a sign of a good place is a line up of people outside willing to wait. you're lucky if there's no line, but if there is it will move and you'll be at the front in no time. the place is tiny, it's take away only. just know, they do one thing and do it well.

5/5. it doesn't get better than this.

there appears to be 2 shops in marrickville that go by this name, both on the same street. this one is bigger and doesn’t appear as popular as its namesake a little further down the street, which is smaller but had a queue. it may be owned by the same folks, who knows.. anyway the reviews on this place looked good so i assumed this was the place i was looking for.
that said, they make a pretty good chicken roll here. the thing i like is that they don’t hold back with the filling, it’s probably the most densely packed viet roll i’ve ever had -greatvalue for money. all the ingredients work together in harmony, with just enough chilli and pate to excite the tastebuds.

flavour is good but hygiene is compromised. the lady wore gloves to prepare the rolls then used the same gloved hand to take money then continued to serve the next customer without change of glove.greattaste but hesitantly have to accept the compromised hygiene in food handling.

located illawarra rd marrickville, this place needs no introduction except being one of, if not the best, banh mi (pork roll) places. the roll, for me, was the perfect mix of crispness without being too flaky. generous fillings. at $5,greatvalue still.

i've been going here since i was young and it's been great. a. however throughout the years i've seen them increase their prices - from $2.50 to now $5. yes, double the price it was from a decade ago. maybe they now have better ingredients but i doubt it. about every year or so they increase the price by 50c and i have no problem with it if there was transparency about their reasoning. i'm familiar enough with the pork roll business so i know that the ingredient increases would not be enough to warrant increasing the price by that much, especially regarding their following. so yeah not pleased that this business has changed their prices according to their hype. stillgreatbut hesitant since price increases.
