i visited market for a relaxed sunday brunch and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful trendy decor and overall vibe. the restaurant is hidden beneath large trees, allowing it to spill out with fairy lights wrapped around the trees above. this must be stunning in the evenings.

the crowd ranges from young to old all very modern and hip. i loved the attentive service and relaxed warm atmosphere that makes you not ever want to leave. the menu although small manages to cater for a variety of tastes. i went intending to try out their flapjack stack but was rather hungry and went for the prawn pasta instead which was extremely delicious. the servings are also quite large and well priced. the prawns were cooked to perfection and the pasta was perfectly spiced. in fact that specific dish is said to be loved by a fellow bloggers husband who is actually italian so you know it's good!

i can't wait to go back for a girls lunch or breakfast again. market is absolutely a beautiful hidden gem in this bustling area.

on a gloomy durban sunday, i visited market for brunch.instantly i loved the atmosphere, decor and vibe of the place. it reminded me of a little bistro in europe.we started on some bubbly and freshly squeezed orange juice.

the staff were friendly and accomodating in providing us all with the codes for wifi.the place slowly filled up with a young trendy crowd as well as families many seemed to be regulars.

the menu is not very large but offers an selection of yummy all day breakfasts and casual /light meals. i opted for the grilled lamb chops served with sweet potato and broccoli which was totally moorish.succulent tender chops basted with a yummy marinade with crisp veg.

and to round of my meal, i chose a chai latte which was divine with a great blend of spices.

will i be back yes :-)

market is a beautiful restaurant, situated in a courtyard hidden just off gladys mazibuko road, with a fantastic indoor/outdoor balance. the service is the best that i have experienced in durban, with friendly, fun waiters, and the food is brilliant. i have eaten there on three or four occasions, brunch and lunch, and have been delighted every time. recently some friends and i were there on my birthday for an impromptu lunch. not normally one to order a salad, i took a chance and was not disappointed - fresh, interesting, full of flavour, lightly dressed and beautiful to look at. the freshly squeezed fruit juices make a great accompaniment, and the deserts are equally enjoyable - try the chocolate brownies!

one of durban's hidden gems.
