the market is tucked away in suburbia, off the touristy beaten track. the menu has a little something for everyone including a very good (if pricy) wine list and an excellent selection of craft beers. the food was delicious and despite the service being slow, the wait staff was charming and well-versed in the menu. have the soufflé, it is dreamy. if you enjoy beautifully (freshly) prepared food and have time on your hands, you won't be disappointed.

took my friend who had come for a visit from johannesburg here. she looked at the menu & pictures of the place & found it quite underwhelming and was not quiet convinced to come here for our last dinner in durban. boy was she wrong. she loved every single thing about the restaurant. this place has such a lovely setting and casual atmosphere - giving european bistro vibes, perfect romantic hideout.

the food: great value for money. the composition and flavours are outstanding. for starters i had their special of game carpaccio with beetroot and goats cheese - i will never taste a carpaccio quite like that again. definitely could've had 2/3 servings of it. mains was the "free range duck comfit leg and pan fried duck breast deglazed with honey and served on a butterbean mash - finished off with a tomato and bean compote." i cannot describe the explosion of flavours with this meal. the combination of the butterbean mash and the duck worked incredibly well. sadly didn't go for desert, my tummy was overwhelmed already but will try it out next time.
they have a great wine list to compliment their food.
they do have a seasonal menu as i gathered.

staff & service is amazing. bookings are essential.

this is definitely the first restaurant that comes to mind when i have to recommend one in durban.

popped in for a friday afternoon coffee break after a hectic work week- it wasnt very busy which was perfect as it allowed us to relax and unwind. the outdoor seating facilitates a calming ambience tucked away in the middle of a very busy street!!
the chocolate brownie served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream was simply divine! for those who are into decadence - try the pecan pie!!

elegantly balancing of flavours in every dish. i ordered the quinoa salad, devouring every morsel while enjoying the special courtyard ambience. food came out quickly with no fuss, service was fun and efficient and my partner's pasta was just as mouthwatering.

quaint, laid back hidden little gem, just off marriott road in essenwood.

we had the most wonderful waitress who was exceptionally well spoken and explained the specials "deliciously" (thank you summer)

i had the butternut sage penne and the portion was adequate, but a starter or dessert would compliment nicely.

i would recommend gladly!

absolutely great set up, best breakfast i have ever had! the weather was perfect, to add to a great first time @ market!
plus having the open stalls nearby made the experience even better! this is a place to go to before leaving durbs.

it was a friday afternoon and my mum fancied coffee and my hubby lunch. this seemed like a good spot we had heard good things. my hubby had the sesame lentil burger which was really good but expensive all things considered, i had cheesecake which was also excellent. their coffee wasn't particularly hot and the service, although friendly was sadly inattentive - they were quite busy with a lingering lunch crowd but the waiters seemed invisible rather than rushed off their feet. will have to give the market another go - perhaps for breakfast next time !

nice atmosphere, waitrons are not always checking for additions to the order, service obviously depends on how many patrons present, the food though is great. if only there were more options that were pork and beef free!

lovely place in musgrave, with an outside and inside table setting. i had the lamb burger which was not what i expected, it was alot better, the mince was curried and packed full of flavour. my wife had the french toast brioche with crispy bacon which was just as good and will be perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth.

this is one i my favourite durban restaurants. you may struggle to find it as it is nestled away down a little alley way. the service is good, the atmosphere / vibe is great and the food is really good. great spot for breakfast or lunch.

a great modern restaurant set in greyville. excellent spot for breakfast or light lunches. the menu offers a range of creative options to excite those who are searching for a little something extra. all dishes are presented beautifully. the restaurant is set in a light and modern atmosphere. the dining area spills out onto a deck and tree- lined courtyard with a water feature in the middle of it all. be sure to order one of their freshly squeezed juices or order a glass of bubbles with breakfast!

what a hidden gem (excuse the pun abouts its "hidden from the world" location).

really like the secret garden feel. interior look - and - feel is impeccably done.

staff friendly and service was great.

food is well thought out for the genre.
