everyone always raves about market! one of my besties swears by it, so when my favorite restaurant was having an event for my birthday we decided to give this place another try (being only mildly impressed by it some years ago).

reservations were made and we were given a table inside, on arrival we realized that it was alovelynight and would maybe like to dine outside. however the staff weren't too helpful. nonetheless we took our seat inside, our waiter not even introducing himself. needless to say his attitude throughout the night was pretty much the same. we had to continuously enquire about stuff and he didn't even know what 'sq' meant ?. even made a huge fuss about table settings because we had two less people at our party so removed the extra table to be closer to one another, saying we not allowed to do that.

anyway, the food was excellent, everyone enjoyed their meals thoroughly and so we have no fault there. definitely alovelyplace but not solovelyto be served by indifferent staff.

i would return but not in the near future!

a very cute and quirky spot in durban. the ambiance islovelyand so relaxing especially when seated outside by the fountain. i had the duck salad...which was👌🏽 and some freshly squeezed pineapple juice. this is a definite must go when around morningside

first of all! please excuse my tardiness as i forgot to take pictures of ourlovelyfood while visiting market over the weekend , i'm from joburg so it was my first time there and i was blown away! it's a little hidden piece of heaven that welcomes you with fairy lights and alovelyalfresco setting , our waitress was lovely, food was great and honestly the only reason i'm not giving this place a 5 is because you have to go through the kitchen to go to the toilets which are incredibly small. otherwise, if u find urself in this area it's a must try! i had the chicken tagliatelle pasta & my husband had the beef burger , bothlovelyin flavour.

one of my ultimate fav spots in durban! perfect for an afternoon lunch. good service from the waiters although the food did take over 45mins to arrive.lovelyoutside setting with waterfall and stoney grounds. we had the prawn and asparagus risotto which was delicious and quite a large portion. also had the corn fritter from the breakfast menu which is served all day. food was definitely worth the wait!

what alovelylunch experience . market has a beautiful outdoor setup and great service. they have a interesting menu and the food does not disappoint. definitely worth a visit.

such a beautiful restaurant serving hip dishes with fresh, organic ingredients. the setting is simple yet beautiful. the waiters are friendly and deliver such great service. the food is absolutely delicious. we had alovelybrunch to the sounds of a live musician and sunny skies. the toilet arrangements are the only reason i haven't given a 5/5.

i visited market today for alovelylate afternoon meal. it has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. the outside area is lit up with fairy lights which is a great touch. the service is a bit slow as they are busy but the waiters are friendly and the food is fresh and plated well. i ordered a warm cappuccino to drink and the hallloumi and avo on rye bread to eat. the rye bread was a bit hard but overall i enjoyed the snack. my friend ordered the butternut ravioli without bacon which she throughly enjoyed. for desert we shared the cranberry chocolate brownie. it was topped with ice cream. we found it a bit rich and had quite. unique taste. the restaurant has a great atmosphere and good food.

had alovelytime here once again. the food was fresh and the service was up to standard. having a live band play was too nice and added to thelovelyambiance.

i absolutely love this place, have never been disappointed in their food or service! they have alovelymenu with great wine selections, and while a bit more expensive than average, i'd happily pay for what you get here- it's a really special night out.

amazing! i absolutely love market. it's bustling and busy and noisy but somehow you relax and slip into people-watching mode! food is superb with a very interesting menu! service was relatively good. i had an amazing cannelloni made out of brinjal (what!) and stuffed with creamy feta spinach and topped with a fresh, light tomato relish. my companion had fish cakes atop a leafy bed, the cakes tasted fresh and home made and we're definitely not processed - alovelychange!

took my friend who had come for a visit from johannesburg here. she looked at the menu & pictures of the place & found it quite underwhelming and was not quiet convinced to come here for our last dinner in durban. boy was she wrong. she loved every single thing about the restaurant. this place has such alovelysetting and casual atmosphere - giving european bistro vibes, perfect romantic hideout.

the food: great value for money. the composition and flavours are outstanding. for starters i had their special of game carpaccio with beetroot and goats cheese - i will never taste a carpaccio quite like that again. definitely could've had 2/3 servings of it. mains was the "free range duck comfit leg and pan fried duck breast deglazed with honey and served on a butterbean mash - finished off with a tomato and bean compote." i cannot describe the explosion of flavours with this meal. the combination of the butterbean mash and the duck worked incredibly well. sadly didn't go for desert, my tummy was overwhelmed already but will try it out next time.
they have a great wine list to compliment their food.
they do have a seasonal menu as i gathered.

staff & service is amazing. bookings are essential.

this is definitely the first restaurant that comes to mind when i have to recommend one in durban.
