biscuits not the best. i saw that it was the # 1 listing on urbanspoon's talk of the town". i thought let's give it a try saturday morning.

i ordered 3 biscuits. a bacon biscuit, a ham biscuit , & a cinnamon biscuit.
my wife ordered a bacon, egg, cheesebiscuit with gravy.

they have a great concept and are friendly.

the biscuits are not the best. they are rather bland & tough. not hot , fluffy buttermilk biscuits that we make at home using the southern living recipe.

the sausage gravy was good with lots of sausage & a nice bite to it. the bacon was good but the ham was not to my liking. i would have preferred a nice piece of country ham.

the cinnamon biscuit was ok. still rather tough & not hot, fresh or soft.

if biscuits are your hallmark then you would think that they would find someone that can make a decent one. i remember the huge cathead biscuits that were served at the homestead restaurant back in the 70-90s. also famous amos had a great biscuit back then before they went to a cheap mix and now frozen biscuits.

i think "nicole's on the river" on heckscher dr makes a better biscuit than maple street.

still a nice neighborhood place & worth a try.

this place is amazing. thats all. anyone that says its not good doesn't know food. i would say its not the healthiest place to eat but its my go to spot to cheat. the sqwauking goat is to die for and that mac andcheeseshould be illegal. sinful! the owners are passionate about what they do and show you how much they care about the customers. overall a+! can't wait to go back.

the menu was posted on a large blackboard on the wall. so many choices. i was glad when the cashier took the time to explain some of the items and he told us his personal favorites. as soon as he pointed out the squawking goat i knew that's what i wanted. deep fried chicken with a patty of goatcheesesmothered with house made pepper jelly. john ordered the blues biscuit. pulled pork topped with house made slaw and bbq sauce. just like memphis. i was thrown for a loop when the cashier asked for our favorite tv show. what? it seems that's how they call you when your food is ready. it took a few seconds to gather our thoughts and come up with "the big bang theory". the only tv show we watch together on a regular basis. it did give us something to talk about while we waited for our food. we should have said bonanza , have gun will travel or chips, bay watch or the vicar of dibley . something more original... our food came out pretty quickly. they called our tv show and john went to pick it up at the counter. the cashier helped him bring it to the table. hot and yummy looking. the squawking goat flaky biscuit, all natural fried chicken breast, fried goatcheesemedallion and house made pepper jelly. i actually liked the biscuit. it was nice and brown on top and flaky insid

glad i finally tried this place. it took me a while to get around to trying this place because i don't really care for biscuits. i have to say that since trying the squawking goat i'm hooked. (deep fried chicken, goatcheeseand home made pepper jelly on a biscuit) the biscuit was not doughy but nice and fluffy with a crunchy, brown top. the chicken was good but the pepper jelly was what set it apart. a little spicy and sweet. the place was clean and comfortable and the staff were all super friendly. we went on a saturday night and they weren't very busy. we got a complimentary pecan cinnamon biscuit for being first time customers. i'll go back again.

best restaurant every time. my favorite place to get breakfast. jerry from detroit is delusional when he says the food is bland. i always like "the squawking goat" which is chicken filet, goatcheeseand pepper jelly piled on a delicious biscuit. what's bland about that? also, every time i go in to either location the staff is very nice and go out of their way to make sure you get something you like. food is always delish and the people are awesome!

after one visit. i can't say a whole lot about this place as a whole but what i can tell you is i had the "david's hashups" and an order of fried green tomatoes and both were awesome. the batter on the tomatoes was good and seasoned very well- not soggy like some places. also had about 4 coffee blends to choose from. i'll definitely be hitting this spot again next time i'm in the area.

i wanted to like it. service was good and the food was relatively quick, but $7 for one of the cheapest biscuits is a bit much. especially when the chicken and biscuit were cold, thecheesedidn't come close to melting. i *may* give it one more shot.

the best chicken biscuit you'll ever have. fresh made biscuits, all natural chicken, house made jellies and jams. my family and i vacation in st. augustine and we drive here multiple times a week just for their breakfast. the sticky maple is my first choice -- biscuit, chicken and pecan wood smoked bacon drowning in the best maple syrup you've ever tasted. they get it from a small family farm who has been making real maple syrup for 150 years. want to skip the sweet? try the loaded goat -- biscuit and chicken topped with a fried goatcheesemedallion. unreal! both my parents like the five and dime -- biscuit, chicken, cheddarcheeseand pecan wood smoked bacon smothered in spicy sausage gravy and topped with a fried egg. the atmosphere is fun and the service is friendly. it's a definite must!

the best scatch made biscuits. now as a lot of you know now. this place is open and is serving some of the best biscuits n fixins in town. hands down, they make everything from scratch and in front of you. if you are like me and love watching your food being made. my wife calls me a stalker of restaurant with open kitchens and food trucks and food in general i say. now the biscuit here are so so good and you can have them just about any way. from a very generous portion of fried chicken to a giant hunk of ham or maybe some simple bacon oh don't forget the sausage. not my sausage but it's good anyway. then you can match it up with an egg and some killer cheddarcheeseall melting down you biscuit. you also have a few choices of veg from spinach, collards, to simple lettuce. are you getting the feeling i know and like this place cause i can go on for a while here. so no matter which one or two (if your really hungry) you choose you will not be disappointed and if you want to be the hero of the block or the job. bring a bag full or two and you will be everyone's hero for sure. i know i do it sometimes from time to time. i have one job that they still talk about the biscuit from maple street bisuit company. your welcome guys n girls

better than your grannie's bisquits!!!!!!!. found this place by searching for a new breakfast spot online, seen the ratings, and let me tell you that we are so happy!!! walked in attempting to read through the menu and the wonderful cashier offered to walk us through it along with showing us some pictures. i ordered the squawking goat which consisted of a chicken breast topped with herb crusted goatcheesethen topped with their homemade pepper jelly all between the best homemade bisquit i've ever eaten. better than your grannie's bisquits! not only was the food and coffee great, we had the pleasure of meeting carla, the assistant manager to one of the oweners. hearing the history behind maple street and her enthusiasm made our visit even more enjoyable. all the food is fresh and everything is homemade. and you can tell no corners are cut by the quality and taste of the food. and even more shocking is the growth of this outstanding place in only a year and a half of opening. if there is a line, just know its well worth the wait.

first visit. we went in this morning for the first time. overall, we were very happy with the experience. the service was fast and friendly. i had a bacon, egg, andcheesebiscuit and my husband had a the five, which i think is a bacon, cheese, fried chicken, and sausage gravy on a biscuit. all i can say is wow! the biscuits were light and tender, the bacon was flavorful and thick, and the fried egg was cooked perfect. i tried my husband's sausage gravy, and will say that it is almost as good as what we make at home. we make our own sausage and are sawmill gravy snobs, so the bar is set pretty high. ok, it might actually be better than ours. i'll have to try it several more times just to be sure.
we will definitely stop in again for a biscuit of some type. the cost is more compared to your average breakfast biscuit, but it's not your average breakfast biscuit. if you have a buck twenty nine, get an egg mcmuffin, but if you have a few more dollars in your change jar, go for quality at maple street.
a word on the coffee. it was good quality, and i liked the diner-style mugs, but it was served from pump-top thermal carafes, which are great for picnics, but not so great for keeping coffee at the best serving temperature for more than five to ten minutes. my coffee was cold by the time i had eaten half of the biscuit. i drank it anyway because i'm a coffee troll, but it would have been fantastic piping hot. that's my only gripe. but really, it's mostly about the biscuits and they are awesome! get some!

i don't think my words will do its justice for just how amazing this place really is. their biscuits are so fresh and all their toppings are amazing, i don't have a favorite biscuit because all of them are just too darn good, but i can tell you my favorite side is the rocky mountain mac ncheesewith crushed cheez-its on top, it's all so yummy! there's no excuse why everybody shouldn't try this place at least once-- you're missing out on truly good jacksonville food!!!
