my wife and i went here on a friday night with another couple who are friends of ours.  we arrived at 7:30 pm.  the restaurant was busy, but there were enough open tables that we were seated immediately.

the food here is standard tex-mex.  there was nothing exciting or new on the menu.  i ordered beef brisket enchiladas with refried beans and mixed vegetables.  the refried beans were my favorite thing; they were well seasoned with plenty of cumin.  i wish they had not put so much cheese on top because it almost killed the flavor of the beans.  there was also too much cheese on top of the enchiladas.  however, our server brought me more of the tomatillosalsato help cut through the rich cheese.  it was a nice complement to the beef and the corn tortillas.  the mixed veggies were steamed and included tomatoes, summer squash, and bell peppers.  i added some salt to liven them up because they were only steamed and not seasoned by the kitchen.  i think that makes sense, though, given the fact that they probably serve a wide variety of diet needs at this restaurant.

my wife got the chicken tamales with black beans and mixed veggies.  she thought her black beans were the best part of the meal -- warm, slightly spicy, and well seasoned.  she said that the chicken tamales were bland.  the corn meal was not sweet or salty or anything, there was barely any chicken inside of them, and there was too much cheese on top of the corn husks.

personally, we would rather go to birrieria diaz, cantina bravo, or chelino's to get our tex-mex or mexican food.

our service was quite good.  the hostess and server were both attentive to our needs.  when we first arrived, we were sent to a table right next to a door leading to the patio.  we asked to be seated a little bit farther from the door to avoid drafts of cool air blowing on us while we dined.  our request was granted, and the hostess quickly found a new table for us nearby.

pretty good food, so so service. manager did stop by to check on us. we each got tacos, chicken fajita tacos, $13 and ranchero tacos, shredded, $11. the soft tacos were soggy, the corn hard tortillas were excellent. guacamole was good, quest good, salsaa little on the spicy side. altogether, a nice birthday friday nite dinner.

we use to eat at mama roja about twice a month but. now that they have changed thesalsato a combination of the roasted peppersalsaand the red salsa, we don't go to mama roja's. it was our favorite but the newsalsahas ruined it for us.

it has changed and not for the better.. we hadn't been in awhile. we were looking forward to a gourmet meal with excellent service. the first thing we noticed was that the menu had significantly changed. it read like an overpriced version of my neighborhood mexican restaurant. the cheese andsalsadelivered to the table were moderate to boring. we had quite a wait between getting our drinks and the waiter returning to take our order. when the food arrived, someone at my table asked, "who let the gringo in the kitchen"... the grilled shrimp tacos had tiny shrimp that never had seen a grill in their lives. the waiter warned another person that the verde sauce might be a little spicy. it was bland and boring. the cheese enchiladas were not mexican at all.
my grandson's food was ordered shortly after the rest of us ordered and we were finished eating before it showed up. as a two year old, he was not happy about it. the waiter told us that his order got stuck behind a large party and he had the manager bump the order. there was no compensation for the delay.
sadly, we will probably not go back to this restaurant as it was a huge disappointment. i don't recommend it for anything. service-marginal, food-terrible, view of the lake-not bad, customer satisfaction - none.

it was... ok. we had dinner here last night. i was impressed with mama roja the first couple times we came. this time, not so much.

i looked on the menu for guisado of any kind, but didn't see any; our server didn't know what i was asking about.

the queso andsalsawere ok, but didn't have the same rich flavor i remember. i got a ground beef chimi. it was cut open at an angle like you might see a reuben or a roast beef sandwich, which was kind of odd. it was ok. i tried the chicken burrito that raegan ordered, it had almost no flavor.

once we were getting done with our meal, our server disappeared for long stretches. our check was $68.75.

not nearly as good as previous visits, and pretty expensive. might be off my list for a while.

i took my "like" off this restaurant.

thesalsais awful. just awful. how can you have a "mexican" or "tex-mex" restaurant without good salsa? i don't know, but they do. the food is ok. fajita meat is really good, as is the guacamole, but the tortillas aren't. service is usually ok as well, but don't sit in the "open air" section unless you want to swat gnats in between each bite! oh, and it takes forever to get drinks from the bar....

four for lunch. friends from dallas and a disappointing dinner last night, we decided to try this one. great atmosphere and location. loved the view but the waiter was pretty bad. the warm chips and really tastysalsagave us a lift. the food, though a little pricey was good except for the "boracho beans" taste like ranchstyle beans from a can. sorry but not up to standard in my opine. however, this is a place we will go back.

some of the best!. finally!!! a place that is not afraid to put "cheese" in their cheese enchiladas! the best cheese & onion enchiladas in okc. the chicken fajita enchilada with sour cream sauce was extremely good. i love their sour cream sauce...again, the best! rice was tasty & the refried beans were divine, including the wonderful cheese they melt on top of them! the guacamole rocked, as did the cheesecake burritos for dessert.salsawas okay, not the best, but the cheese sauce was the best. my boyfriend enjoyed everything as much as i did. one bummer...i wish the really nice waitress had not forgotten his taco. he was not happy even though she was very sorry. it would have been nice to try since everything else was so good. we overheard the table behind us...they were missing an item too. servers, please slow down, and pay attention. your food is too wonderful to let mediocre service get in the way. we will be back in spite of the mishap, but next time, we need the taco, please.

broken piece of plastic in a salad, 10 minutes with an empty glass, cold cheese waiting for us at the table...what else can i say?!

i've been here at least half a dozen times. the food has always been good. i like the fajitas. but the service is attrocious. while ted's can often feel like the chinese restaurant of okc mexican cuisine, at least my glass stays full, they bringssalsaand queso frequently, and you don't have to ask for the extra styles of salsas and relish. at mama roja's it is like pulling teeth to get tortillas and other salsas. they are good, but they won't offer them to you, you have to ask.

overall, a pretty good place. atmosphere is nice, the ultimate fajitas for two are awesome, but don't bother with thatsalsa(or cheese sauce) they bring out when you first sit down. opt instead for the fire roasted salsa, it's super tasty! another plus? complimentary sopapillas!

food was good. habenerosalsawas hot and very good. our hostess and waitress wasn't very good. sv our waitress must have had a bad day. she was not very welcoming and attempted no building of repore. just flat. the only time she smiled was when she gave me the check. same with the hostess. the restaurant wasn't busy. improve your service and combine that with your good food and you have a winner.
