an excellent all day dining joint. situated in central austin is perfect for a early lunch or a late lunch whatever you wanna have. they have an all day healthy breakfast menu with crazy varieties. the host is sweet and theserviceis amazing.
food -
the veggie lasagna was out of this world. divided between beans veggies and rice topped with cheese. the whole dish altogether was a brilliant dish with excellent quantity.
soft tacos 🌮- another amazing and filling dish. you can ask for how many ever tacos you want. it's a great mexican dish they've got on the menu. can be a little dry but they serve it with salsa so makes it perfect.
chicken fajita - the rice beans and pico on that dish are just outstanding. they serve 4 tortillas and you've got to make it however you please.
grandmas brownie with ice cream - decadent and that's all that there is to it. can suffice 2/3 people easily.
overall an insane place to start your austin trip with.

in a word ... very good ... ok ... two words.

hitting the seam between the early crowd and the late risers found us arriving while there were plenty of tables open.

service was snappy as a result and my migas were soon in front of me with a side of corn tortillas.

delicious for sure with goodserviceby personable staff is always a winner in my book.

stop in.  enjoy.  i'll be back.

we have been here twice now.
the food is good. our favorite so far is the gingerbread pancakes.
the rest is food not unlike many other places but they do offer quite a few other eccentric items.
good atmosphere. ourservicehas been considerate both times.
overall a good vote from us.

every city needs one like this.. while in austin i was here three times during the week and each was great. ginger pecan pancakes was the breakfast highlight, and theserviceis super responsive and professional. always crowded but it moves fast and is certainly worth the wait. the menu is very diverse and exciting. every city needs a place like this.

not worth it!!!. this place was awful!!! we were expecting a wait, but it was soooo not worth the wait! we came for breakfast and waited 45 minutes to be seated then another 30 minutes for our food.

i ordered a "fritatta," but what i got didn't even vaguely resemble a fritatta. apparently their definition of a fritatta is a small, bland, folded omelet. not a fluffy baked egg dish like i was expecting. my husband got some breakfast tacos, which were also extremely bland.

on top of that, theservicewas horrible. the waitress dropped off the food and took off, never coming back to check on us after that. i wanted hot sauce, and my husband got a pancake but was never given syrup. by the time we got the attention of the waitress and got the hot sauce and syrup, the pancake and "fritatta" were both cold.

i really don't see what people love about this place. other than the hip decor and funky ambiance, this place really has nothing going for it in my opinion. i left feeling completely disappointed and unsatisfied and wished i hadn't paid for the food as it wasn't worth paying for. don't bother coming here!

funky, quirky, cool joint serving fabulous food; breakfast, soups and sandwiches are prepared with the freshest ingredients. theserviceis excellent; the people are ultra-friendly; this place gets packed but is worth the wait; you will enjoy this unique austin treasure! enjoy!

had the eggs benedict. it was good. i didn't like the fact that our server asked if we'd like some fresh avocado with our breakfast and then charged us each $3.00 for a couple of slices of it. some disclosure would have been nice.servicewas good, though for the most part. our glasses were never empty.

aw, magnolia cafe.. i've been to both locations on several occasions. both are outstanding in my book.

my personal menu favorite is the bbq chicken enchiladas. they are smoky and spicy, cheesy and saucy, delicious in every bite. queso appetizer and any of the myriad pancakes are also personal favorites.

one reason i love mc is theserviceand the eclectic nature of the place. you never know what your server will be like and you are always intrigued by who is sitting around you.

in summary, a fun place with great food at a fair price and an enjoyable atmosphere. just know that there can be an extensive wait at the busiest times (usually weekend mornings). delicious is always popular after all.

it's....fine.. so, i read all the reviews and had high hopes - i give it a hesistant "like" - as i wouldn't deter someone from going, but likely won't go back (i'm a visitor from seattle). i got the "love migas" mentioned here a lot - and was disappointed in how bland they were along with the texture. they were super 'wet' eggs, and sure, after adding a lot of salt and hot sauce, wrapping them in a tortilla and adding the shredded cheese my companion didn't want, they were...fine. we had order envy when we saw the pancakes show up at the table next to us and figure we'd have loved the place had we gotten those. true, totally cheap, goodserviceconsidering how busy, food came fast and a fun electic crowd. go once, check the box and move on.

great for breakfast. best pancakes in austin! try the gingerbread and you won't be dissapointed! most of the time, serviceis slow and you have to wait to get a table, but their breakfast is well worth it. i'm not sure the same can be said for the rest of the menu options.

not that great. i decided to go here after watching it on food network.....and...it was a waste of money. theservicewas really good but i was really disappointed with the food. they charged us $11 for a chicken dinner plate that came with a tiny piece of chicken covered with sauce....and then slapped on sides. i could have made it myself for $4. and the "famous" gingerbread pancakes tasted like dry sawdust. even ihop had better pancakes.

food good;serviceterrible.. magnolia cafe on lake austin always has better service, even when they have bad service, than this location. i've never not had a wait, regardless of the time of day, the wait staff are impersonal and hurried, and that leads to issues with your order wrong.

if you can deal with that and really large booths so you're far away from the table, then by all means, give this location a shot. personally, badservicebugs me, so i avoid this location and head up to lake austin blvd for betterserviceand the same food.
