an excellent all day dining joint. situated in centralaustinis perfect for a early lunch or a late lunch whatever you wanna have. they have an all day healthy breakfast menu with crazy varieties. the host is sweet and the service is amazing.
food -
the veggie lasagna was out of this world. divided between beans veggies and rice topped with cheese. the whole dish altogether was a brilliant dish with excellent quantity.
soft tacos 🌮- another amazing and filling dish. you can ask for how many ever tacos you want. it's a great mexican dish they've got on the menu. can be a little dry but they serve it with salsa so makes it perfect.
chicken fajita - the rice beans and pico on that dish are just outstanding. they serve 4 tortillas and you've got to make it however you please.
grandmas brownie with ice cream - decadent and that's all that there is to it. can suffice 2/3 people easily.
overall an insane place to start youraustintrip with.

i highly recommend this localaustinspot. no leftovers. we ate it all. my son finished what i couldn't eat of my pancakes. the mango sourdough pancakes were a special and were delicious. the queso omelet was really good too.

when thinking ofaustincool and legendary, magnolia cafe south tops the list. a 24 hour diner which is consistently good for breakfast, lunch, dinner or late night dining. it’s hard to pick a favorite, but breakfast served all day is hard to beat. try the love migas, along with one of their pancakes, and keep an eye out for celebrities, as the last one seen eating at magnolia was alton brown.

every city needs one like this.. while inaustini was here three times during the week and each was great. ginger pecan pancakes was the breakfast highlight, and the service is super responsive and professional. always crowded but it moves fast and is certainly worth the wait. the menu is very diverse and exciting. every city needs a place like this.

humm...still not sure. we had eaten brunch at this quaint cafe one day before departing fromaustinand thought this time we would try dinner since we were staying close by. it was later in the evening but the place was still quite busy. we were a bit confused with the differences in menu descriptions and the actual arriving plate. we had one of the vegetarian specials which featured baked acorn squash, suateed spinach and mixed vegetables. my husband threw in shrimp. the dish was eclectic and the sum of the whole left you saying what? we did not finish it. the gazpacho soup was something i thought should be featured in a luby's cafeteria. as my 15 year old son said, "everything is very much one note tonight.' we may still go again and give them another try. perhaps we were just tired from the trip. the atmosphere is very cool and the house specialties looked appealing as they walked by.

spinach lasagna the best of my life.. i went here during sxsw and had the spinach lasagna, i almost cried tears of happiness it was so delicious. my boyfriend got the magna cristo, it was also very delicious and fresh tasting, although not as transendent as my lasagna. i've only been to a few places to eat inaustinso far, but this is by far my favorite!

go there half in the bag. okay here we go again withaustinmythology and what is so cool about austin. this cafe is something else. two of us went for dinner and we both had the same reaction when the main course came to the table. disturbing. the combination of flavors was not right. the other notable fact is that the portions are very small while the prices are not. we each had iced tea which was good (but they do not have sweet tea, so how southern is that?). i had a small and i do mean small green salad that was tasty , tiny but tasty. we had the full order of nachos that was okay to start but disappointed once you got past the toppings. lots of black beans. my magna cristo...hummmmmm what can i say? it was odd. supposed to be like a monte cristo except they do not have a deep fryer but the smell made you think sweet but the sandwich was not and it didn't work. the shrimp enchilada was truly strange. the cheese on the menu said montery jack. if that was montery jack then it was a very strange brand. the tortillla was soggy and the whole mess was covered in a heavy tomato sauce. and they brough a salsa bowl to the table for this disaster. the home fries were good i will say that. we ordered a piece of peanut butter pie with ice cream. the pie was very small the scoop of ice cream was generous, the cream put on the side had an odd consistency that we scooped off and hid in a napkin. this distasteful repast came to 50.00 with tip. i do not see what the attraction is about this place it is off my list that is for sure. do people inaustinjust not know good food? i am mystified how this place could be even considered passable.
it is supposed to be great for breakfast but i thinki because people who go there at 5 in the morning have been drinking all night. ugh!!

sorry, we're delicious!. i had the presidio which is like eggs benedict but with tomato and avocado - sooooo yummy! the sauce was perfectly tangy and the creaminess of the avocado just worked :) anything with the home fries is a safe bet too. i'm not a big potatoes girl, but the seasoning was perfection! the vibe is typically chillaustin- check out the pteradactyl in the middle of the room! seems to be the only breakfast place on that stretch of soco that's actually open during breakfast hours, and the "sorry, we're open" sign is classic :)

anaustinfavorite. i always stop by magnolia cafe whenever i visit austin. despite the waiting period during the weekends, i always find myself not minding the wait. the staff are extremely warming and laid back, the food is good and cheap, and the decor is charming. one of the major upsides is that they are very vegetarian friendly, something that any vegetarian individual can appreciate. their swiss mushroom burgers, both garden and beef, are absolutely phenomenal. this is a joint where meat eaters can easily fall in love with the vegetarian dishes because they are so good.

texcentric. this place is whataustinis all about in my book, its funky its hip it's everything i love about austin. it's even on soco, which adds even more cool points.
and as weird (keep weird austin) as the place seemed to me, for people living inaustinit's just natural. and you can tell, the cross section of customers runs the gamut. it's true, everybody knows and everybody goes.

the menu has staple café fare, but when you are inaustinyou got try something different. for me, i have never had migas for breakfast. much less eat black beans or any kind of bean for breakfast. but that was the day i found out i like green eggs and ham. i have tired migas at many places since then but no ones version has ever been better than the love migas at magnolia. my son had the pancakes, but the pancakes took him to school. they were like man vs food big you know what i mean?

we have been back several times now and have always wanted to try dinner there. the problem is, its austin! and there a dozens of great places to have dinner. but when we are in austin. we will always work in the magnolia cafe, sorry they're open.

love migros forever!. great, great food and value. breakfast 24/7. try the "love migros" for scrambled egg with corn tortillas incorporated into the scramble. filling, satisfying and a must for everyone visitingaustinfor any length of time. try it once, but at least try it.

great late night food.... i would avoid going in this restaurant in the light of day at all costs, just to avoid having the dingy atmosphere and decor slammed in your face. somehow at night everything always seems more charming, especially late late night!
i definitely recommend the jalapeno cheeseburger.. always a winner. queso is so so. my one piece of advice: skip the pancakes, and have the french toast instead! the regular french toast here is amazing, fresh and flavorful. the waitstaff is a hit or miss as mostaustinrestaurants but i would wait for the french toast any day.
