the best thing aboutmagnoliais that you can walk in at 1am, and it's packed with people enjoying delightful breakfast platters!  their pancakes are huge.. and full of flavor.  they have a full menu, not just breakfast.  one of their menu items includes a huge plate of nachos covered in cheeses and meat.  just the size of it makes you say, wow.  the atmosphere is always fun, vibrant and charged up.  love it.

when thinking of austin cool and legendary, magnoliacafe south tops the list. a 24 hour diner which is consistently good for breakfast, lunch, dinner or late night dining. it’s hard to pick a favorite, but breakfast served all day is hard to beat. try the love migas, along with one of their pancakes, and keep an eye out for celebrities, as the last one seen eating atmagnoliawas alton brown.

well all i can say is disappointed. we try to come here while visiting my daughter in school and had always had a good experience. however, not this weekend. we had a party of 7, we patiently waited, when i finally asked, the guy at the front he said he forgot to get us. by the time we got to the table, there were several large tables open. and when did it become the norm to serve a large party in waves? half the table received our food and it was more than 10 minutes before the rest of the party was served! how is that right? we understood the whole 17% gratuity thing for large parties, but didn't feelmagnoliacafe did their part. sad. we probably won't come back. lots of other food options in austin, no reason to put up with that no matter how "eclectic" a spot.

simple groove; complex palette. we attended themagnoliacafe for a mid-summer brunch this morning.needless to
say, expectations were not only met, but exceeded. in this southern-town bohemia, one is free to indulge in the sights, sounds, and radical tastes of magnolia. forgive me, my garments seem to be moistening at the thought of it. the gingerbread pancakes are truly sublime. nonetheless, just about any item featured on their menu is sure to deliver your pallette into the ethereal realm of what i ordinarily call a "food climax".

food hound: tidbits -magnoliacafe' south. hey guys it's me, etan wish! in ny, you have diners open 24/7 and always serving a full menu. in austin, you have themagnoliacafe. with two locations to choose from and breakfast all day, this is the perfect spot to go to when you want some amazing foods. a lot of the menu is healthy, filled with lots of tasty ingredients that mix so well together.

you might have seen this place on diners and dives, but we heard about it from not only the locals but from everyone's favorite wookiee, peter mayhew and his wife angie. they always come to eat here when they are in town. so we made the trip into the more artistic side of austin.

it's not an enormous location, but there is the main seating area as well as a large patio outside. the outside is a little more spacious than the inside, but inside they are supporting the local artistic community. they have different pieces of art up on the walls that the profits go to the artist, as well as a lot of other interesting pieces like a colorful pterodactyl hanging from the middle of the ceiling.

we heard that it was the breakfast we needed to try. so breakfast at night it was! we tried a bunch of different dishes, ranging from the t-rex omelet, french toast, and the "love mijos". the food came out fast. the omelet was enormous and filled with such delicious goodies, even avocado! everyone loved their meals, and finished everything on their plates, including the sides of potatoes, garlic bread and salsa. speaking of the salsa, they actually make it fresh everyday, making it unique from day to day. on certain days there is one person who makes it super spicy, so be forewarned! we like it hot, but some may not, you can always inquire how the salsa is that day.

we were still hungry after our big meals, after all it was a long day at the convention (and we have big stomachs)! so we then ordered a blue cheese burger. i hate blue cheese, but this was actually amazing! two thumbs up!

with all the friendly service, delicious food, and nice family atmosphere, we would definitely advise people to come check it out, and we will be back again!

aw,magnoliacafe.. i've been to both locations on several occasions. both are outstanding in my book.

my personal menu favorite is the bbq chicken enchiladas. they are smoky and spicy, cheesy and saucy, delicious in every bite. queso appetizer and any of the myriad pancakes are also personal favorites.

one reason i love mc is the service and the eclectic nature of the place. you never know what your server will be like and you are always intrigued by who is sitting around you.

in summary, a fun place with great food at a fair price and an enjoyable atmosphere. just know that there can be an extensive wait at the busiest times (usually weekend mornings). delicious is always popular after all.

an austin favorite. i always stop bymagnoliacafe whenever i visit austin. despite the waiting period during the weekends, i always find myself not minding the wait. the staff are extremely warming and laid back, the food is good and cheap, and the decor is charming. one of the major upsides is that they are very vegetarian friendly, something that any vegetarian individual can appreciate. their swiss mushroom burgers, both garden and beef, are absolutely phenomenal. this is a joint where meat eaters can easily fall in love with the vegetarian dishes because they are so good.

texcentric. this place is what austin is all about in my book, its funky its hip it's everything i love about austin. it's even on soco, which adds even more cool points.
and as weird (keep weird austin) as the place seemed to me, for people living in austin it's just natural. and you can tell, the cross section of customers runs the gamut. it's true, everybody knows and everybody goes.

the menu has staple café fare, but when you are in austin you got try something different. for me, i have never had migas for breakfast. much less eat black beans or any kind of bean for breakfast. but that was the day i found out i like green eggs and ham. i have tired migas at many places since then but no ones version has ever been better than the love migas at magnolia. my son had the pancakes, but the pancakes took him to school. they were like man vs food big you know what i mean?

we have been back several times now and have always wanted to try dinner there. the problem is, its austin! and there a dozens of great places to have dinner. but when we are in austin. we will always work in themagnoliacafe, sorry they're open.

great food! great service!.magnoliacafe is one of my favorite places to eat in atx. the food is great and is somewhat cheap. the have great pasta, tacos, and numerous breakfast foods. if you are a pasta-lover (like myself) then i recommend trying the caspian pasta. it is terrific!

yes, the crowd that usually eats here is a little different, but that just adds even more fun to the place!

great brunch. you can always count onmagnoliacafe to come through. i think kerby lane andmagnoliaare very similar, although other locals might disagree. you won't be disappointed with either spot - although please skip the kerby lane up north - it's awful
