great brunch. you can always count on magnolia cafe to come through. i think kerby lane and magnolia are very similar, although other locals might disagree. you won't be disappointed with either spot - although please skip the kerby lane up north - it's awful

overwhelmingly good. there was a whole lot going on here... i could not decide between about 4 dishes but landed on the gingerbread pancakes. very good indeed. and the prices are probably better than the food they are so good!

great late night food.... i would avoid going in this restaurant in the light of day at all costs, just to avoid having the dingy atmosphere and decor slammed in your face. somehow at night everything always seems more charming, especially late late night!
i definitely recommend the jalapeno cheeseburger.. always a winner. queso is so so. my one piece of advice: skip the pancakes, and have the french toast instead! the regular french toast here is amazing, fresh and flavorful. the waitstaff is a hit or miss as most austin restaurants but i would wait for the french toast any day.

food good; service terrible.. magnolia cafe on lake austin always has better service, even when they have bad service, than this location. i've never not had a wait, regardless of the time of day, the wait staff are impersonal and hurried, and that leads to issues with your order wrong.

if you can deal with that and really large booths so you're far away from the table, then by all means, give this location a shot. personally, bad service bugs me, so i avoid this location and head up to lake austin blvd for better service and the same food.

just okay. i was there on a bad day because it didn't appear that busy and my omelet arrived lukewarm. i know there were a few regulars because they were greeted by their names, which i thought was cool. i was bummed because the cafe was recommended by a local and my breakfast was "okay" at best. the pancake was huge but dense. one good thing...the orange juice tasted freshly squeezed.

the place to be. first time i went there with friends, i wound up going twice in the same day. i had to bring back other friends to try it. we are from out of town and this immediately became my favorite breakfast and late-night spot. the food is great. the portions huge. the prices low. and you can not beat the floor show put on by guests and staff after the bars close. even the "normal" crowds and staff on day shift are pretty interesting to watch and meet. i certianly suggest going with the atmosphere and be casual. no formality here.

we love it!. when in college, we came to magnolia all the time. when we visit, we always make a stop or two or three because it's soo good. anything you order - omelettes, sandwich, stir fry, lasagna, anything - it's all very very good.

doing their part to keep austin weird. so if you can get past the colorful characters that will be serving you, the food is always awesome.

everything is made fresh, homemade and wonderful. magnolia used to be a hidden austin gem, now, not so much on the hidden side.

waits can be long at the regular dining hours, but well worth it. nightly specials are always unique and wonderful. seasonal menu items always keep the menu new and unique with each visit. like kerbey lane, but more varied menu items.

this is always in my back pocket when friends are in town and need some suggestions for good food with an austin flair.
