mabel's cupcake emporium

we had originally stopped by the english pie company but the desserts didn't look great.  we then went to the byrd cookie company but they had already closed (but other stores were still open and the market still had tons of people walking around).  so, we found mabel's cupcake emporium- and we are glad we did!   the girl behind the counter was very friendly and helpful.  the famous mabel and confetti cupcakes were delicious- they were so moist they melted in your mouth and theicingwasn't hard or thick- rather like sweet and airy.  the macaroons were perfect- the only other macaroons that we have had that were better were from boston, ma.  the blueberry croissant was incredible.  go here.

got 2 of the signature cupcakes (buttercream & vanilla) and they were average at best. cannot figure out the hype. the cake was not very moist & theicingwas average too. tried 2 macarons too.....average again. the ones from papilotte are so much better. service was good, though. wanna go back to see if i'm just missing something but don't wanna waste my money.

different strokes for different folks.... was visiting savannah and i try cupcakes anywhere i go, but these were the worst. i had the key lime, almond joy, mabel's (who's old fashion birthday cake???) and red velvet. not really cream cheese,icingtoo sweet on others, tasted like box cakes; no boxed cakes taste better and dude working was uninformative, very short and just ready to make a sale. didn't notice there were no cupcake dividers so cupcakes ruined when i reached destination. waste to time and $$ but presentation simple and appears appealing but they look way better than they taste.

disappointing. after a warm welcome and a nice chat with the staff member on duty, we made four selections. these included the peanut butter cookie cup, the autumn special, the heath bar crunch cookie cup and the pink lemonade cupcake. first of all, i was competely underwhelmed when i opened the small box to find the too large cupcakes crammed into it, two on their sides, and with theicingon the two left standing all messed up. surely you can afford a larger box! i started with the peanut butter cookie cup which needs more peanut butter flavor, perhaps crunchy peanut butter. the overwhelmingly noticable aspect of this item is oil. i was left with an oily film on my lips and in my mouth and i did not like it. now, on a better note, i really do love the taste of autumn, even with its now malformedicingsmeared all over the cupake paper. one thing i know; when it comes to food so much of its success is about presentation. they looked pretty in the case and horrible in the box with which you sent us off. pity.
