lupie’s is a great chili restaurant. in fact, i would venture to say that it’s the chili restaurant in charlotte. what’s great about it is that they have four styles of chili, and according to everyone, they’re all good.

it took me long enough to get here.. i've lived in the clt since 2005. lupie's is one of those classic old school greasy haunts that many a local told me about. finally, after eight years i made it there for dinner. i went with the burger w/ texas chili all the way and chips. the burger was a two fisted beast, my beer was cold, and my chips, well, they were just plain chips. the only downside was they serve no fries. the chili had a nice building heat, but not too hot at all. i need to put this on my lunch rotation.

great chilli. this is one of my favorite places in charlotte. i love the chilli mac with the cincinnati style because it has a little bit of cinnamon. also, the nachos are amazing but you need a couple of people at least because they are huge. also, thursday they have the best chicken dunplins ever!!!

lupie’s cafe is the epitome of a neighborhood hangout.. a hole in the wall.. a dive.. or whatever you want to call it. either way the food rocks and the place transmits a vibe that’s pure and simple. if you’re in the area and looking for some simple food at a cheap price, you gotta check out lupie’s cafe.

not bad. went for dinner last night. i tried a mix of the texas and southern chili's over mac and cheese. it was pretty good and the mac and cheese appears home made which is a big plus for me. it was good but i was craving vegetables toward the end. the wife got the roaated pork special. plain the pork was average but the bbq sauce they provided elevated it. close to home so we will see if we end up coming back a lot. i liked the charm and feeling inside. service was really good. we were dumb and used cash so we left less of a tip then we normally do. we felt bad about it actually.

to-go service was fast and friendly. there was a lot of chicken in the dumplings. it was yummy. the mac and cheese was awesome. the green beans were okay, need more seasoning. this is a great place! try it!

best meatloaf around! good service. make sure you try the banana pudding. to die for! different and relaxing atmosphere. do not miss if you're looking for good home cooking.

i've been eating here for over 15 years. it's always better than the last time. if you love a good chili slaw burger, go here. also their kuchen is to die for. even if i'm full, i always have room for it! it's a great place!!

beware - auto break-ins. do not go at night! several auto break-ins in the past year..just recently myself. until security cameras are posted, i would only go for lunch, still not sure about that. we were just recently broken into and another on the same night. not sure what the issue is, however these creeps know when you go inside and when you have your food. i know the cooks go outside and smoke a lot so i don't understand how they time it just right..makes you wonder, especially when the waiter says, "we haven't had one in 3 wks, i thought it was over."

first time's a charm. from the moment i walked in the front door, the staff was warm and inviting. holly's service was very accommodating from the beginning to the end. as we were first timers, holly did a great job of explaining menu items to my mother and i. when i asked for a cup of coffee, holly quickly brewed a fresh pot for me. the entire meal was delicious and abundant. the vegetarian chili was a huge hit with my mother and the chili slaw burger hit the spot for me as well. all of the positive reviews preceding seemed spot on and i highly recommend for anyone seeking simple tastes from a small southern kitchen. can't wait to return.

one of my favorites!. i love lupie's and have been coming here for 15 years. the food is simple but delicious, and the waitstaff is fantastic! i especially love the meatloaf, burgers, chili, and broccoli casserole. funky, down-home and unpretentious. love it!

overrated. vegetarian chili not suitable for vegetarians who don't care for the extra spice. southern chili not up to par- bland. service lame and irritated. disappointed.

wouldn't have it any other way.. i've been eating at lupie's for many years. i used to meet my mom there for lunch a lot when she worked on monroe rd. it's not just the food that makes it so good, it's the experience as well. the massive amount of food you receive doesn't hurt though. the staff has always been so caring, and attentive. the lunch line is well worth the wait, or you can call ahead and get your food to go. either way, you can't go wrong.
