everything was delicious. we had a party of four and eachordereda different item. the seasonal waffle, shipwreck, oatmeal, and the biscuits. we all left stuffed. i will keep them in mind next time i go out for breakfast. just a warning, they do have a policy where you cannot substitute or change the menu item.

such a gem!!. i had the pleasure of dining at lucky's cafe this past weekend for brunch and found the food divine!! lucky's is a charming little spot in tremont that promotes local sources of food. the freshness of their ingredients is obvious within the first bite of one of their delectable dishes. iorderedthe weekend special- a brie and asparagus omelet served with duck egg hollandaise, house made bread and hash browns. it was spectacular-comforting and rich, but not overwhelmingly so. a few dashes of their house made hot sauce helped the hash browns to disappear quickly. and their fresh berry jam was such a treat- especially considering my usual indifference toward jams, jellies and the like. i can't wait to return!!!

tucked away on starkweather avenue in tremont, the space itself long and shotgun straight with a nextdoor garden patio built for al fresco dining when the weather is right, lucky’s café offers a limited menu beginning at nine o’clock in the morning daily, the more intriguing aspect of the restaurant being a collection of baked goods sold for dining-in, or to-go from a counter up front.

focused on local sourcing and scratch production, daily specials often presenting the market’s best ingredients both in the dining room and from the glass cases up front, it was just past 8am on monmday that i entered the empty space to peruse the options, the start of breakfast not to begin for an hour and thus seeing seven itemsorderedin two courses, the staff nice enough to rewarm as appropriate, though the lack of a microwave means this entails a short wait.

apparently visited by guy fieri in 2009, his suggestions offered boith online and in-store, it was at a small table near the kitchen that i sat to enjoy the selections, a few patrons coming and going for coffee or office orders, free wifi providing entertainment as bites of two cookies proved well-crafted while the blueberry cornbread was unfortunately far too mealy to eat.

receiving hot bread pudding after approximately ten minutes, the hefty wedge of pumpkin brioche punctuated with dried currants amidst custard-soaked cubes beneath a toasty darkened top, suffice it to say that the thinly-sliced sour cream apple pie is another selection worth the wait for warming, a salted caramel brownie presented more like a flourless cake slice topped in nuts and icing while the sweet potato pie rivals the best in the business with a lightly sweetened base juxtaposing the nearly weightless meringue topping.

avoided the weekend rush and tried lucky's for breakfast on a weekday. iorderedthe shipwreck on recommendation of the really loud, obnoxious waitress/hostess with the short hair, and was told i could not have it without bacon because 'it's already mixed in' to this egg and veggie breakfast dish. seriously? ok.

my breakfast date and i were discussing how very limited the breakfast menu seemed (two egg dishes, one very specific flavored waffle, and no substitutions), when i overheard another staff member telling the table behind us that they do have egg breakfast sandwiches, off menu, but they weren't allowed to order off menu until the lunch hour (this was at 10:45 am). it just seemed so confusing!

our check came out near the $50 dollar mark after two lattes and two overpriced shipwrecks at $13.50 each. do they call it a shipwreck because of the havoc in my stomach an hour later? either way, cute restaurant with too many flaws. sadly, i hadn't read reviews before trying lucky's, i just considered it a local staple worth giving a try. consider it my first and last trip.

lunch at your own risk. went for lunch today. iorderedthe special, which was a blt for crying out loud, and my lunch dateorderedmac and cheese. that's it. not complicated. oh, iordereda water to drink, maybe that's what threw them.....took a effing 50 minutes......ended up having to take it to go. the blt wasn't fantastic. there was one piece of bacon. maybe they were running short. it was during lunch hours after all. the manager came over and apologized. took 25% off of our ticket. instead of paying $17 for the mac and cheese and $14 for a frigging sandwich i could have made at home, it only cost us about $25.....so, go if you like to pay a lot for mediocre food that you could have made better at home.

iorderedthe canoewreck, which consisted of curried tofu, hash browns, seasonal veggies and brewer's yeast , served with como toast and fresh fruit . i was impressed with the innovation in the menu. not many places do you see curried tofu and brewer's yeast for brunch. every ingredient was also incredibly fresh. i was thrilled with the interesting flavors of the curry, vegetables, potatoes and brewer's yeast.  the only thing i w

...we quickly learned that everything at lucky's is crazy, huge and out of control! three thick slices of naturally cured bacon topped with pecans and brown sugar. cuz yeah - bacon isn't good enough on it's own - it's needs pecans and brown friggin sugar. holy cow - this was amazing! it was really thick thick bacon and then you load it with this salty sweet decadence. yeah - cincinnati - you've been served...pecan bacon. (seriously - somebody needs to do this here - virgils ?!) next up oatmeal. seriously - when my blogging friendorderedoatmeal

we came for sunday brunch after reading online reviews. horrible! there was a 20min wait. we had a beverage and pastry while waiting = $20.00.
there was no where to wait. it was very cramped and unpleasant. finally we were seated at a dirty picnic table with birds on it, doing
what birds do.
when ordering the server refused to remove spinach from a omelet.refused to do a made to order omelet. then when trying to order a waffle the server said syrup was a additional$5.00!
finally we settled with a scrambler type meal "shipwreck" which had toast. i tried to order gravy. i was told they don't do sides of gravy. so i paid a additional $15.00 for a biscuit w gravy!
when the food runner arrived he inquired why we had 3 plates with only 2 of us. i explained that the server stated they were "dangerously" (lol) low on gravy. he seemed to acknowledge the absurdity of it all and offered to return the biscuit&gravy to return with a side bowl.
instead a behemoth butch man hating wynona judd looking chef/owner returned carrying the now gelatinous plate of b&g. interrupting our brunch and hatefully barking off, "what's the problem here. i stated no problem & asked if she had a problem?
she asked, did the server not explain that we are "dangerously low on gravy" (lol makes me laugh every time) i replied yes, thats why iordereda b&g at $15.00
instead of a side bowl. but i then explained how her other employee said that was not the case offered to bring a side. (the only polite person in the whole restaurant)
i then stated that my only problem is that the overpriced food we hadorderedwas getting cold while she was on her tirade. she barked back, "do you want this or not" i said i didn't care. she threw the plate on the table and left. i cant imagine anyone ever paying $80.00 for such b.s.
go to pier w at that price point. or go to ihop for better food. the worst ever! please don't go!

undecided. went there last week for breakfast.nice atmosphere, very clean and artsy.server was pleasant and friendly.iorderedbiscuits and gravy while my wife had the shipwreck.my food arrived in about 18 minutes.gravy was very good, the biscuits nice and cheesy.scrambled eggs were slightly overcooked and the potatoes were a disappointment.the shipwreck was overcooked, the bacon was very good but with the same potatoes.what is the deal with all the scallions?everything was loaded with scallions!i picked most of mine out.overall ,the gravy itself would be great on a sock.the biscuits were fine.nothing else required.very pricey for breakfast but staff was friendly to us.this is a one in a lifetime visit.now we have eaten there.no reason to go back.32.00 for our meals and i left a little hungry.

dddelicious. after seeing this place on ddd, my friend and i added it to our list of destinations in the cleveland area we wanted to go to. we were not disappointed. i've read a lot of negative reviews about service etc. but i have to say our server, steve was attentive, entertaining and knowledgeable.
weorderedthe mac & cheese and a cuban. we were told it's best to eat the mac & cheese with the side apple sauce and not just as a side dish, ie dip the m&c into the apple sauce. having never thought of that before we were game and not disappointed. it was great!

the cuban to me was just another sandwich, i wish we hadordereda 2nd order of m&c rather than share.

i will agree on one thing, the prices are a wee bit high. $14 for m&c is a bit steep, with the extra $2 for bacon it was a pricey dish. knock it down to $10 with the bacon and you have a major winner.

would i go back, yes, would i recommend it to friends, yes - i will warn them about the prices in advance though.

thanks lucky's, if we're ever in cleveland again, we'll make sure to stop by.

this was another spot we'd heard about on ddd. everyone told me to get the biscuits and gravy which is what i did. the biscuits were light and flaky. the gravy had this little peppery kick and big chunks of sausage. the eggs were fluffy too. besides the fact that it weighed me down for the rest of the day, this was an ideal breakfast. matt decided to mix things up a little bit andorderedthe shipwreck. this scrambler was huge, but he wolfed it down with minimal breathing in between bites. the potatoes were prepared well too.

what i really loved about lucky’s is that even though they were super busy, they let us linger at the tables. we never felt rushed, and we were able to relax and enjoy our breakfast. a few of usorderedgingerbread waffles surrounded by roasted apples and topped with delicious whipped cream drizzled with caramel sauce. it truly was a dessert, and i loved every bite. iordereda hot apple cider since i rarely get the opportunity. all of their hot beverages come in huge mugs which i greatly appreciated. it was the perfect cure for the chilly weather we had that day. a couple other peopleordered“shipwreck” which was a mix of hash browns, eggs, vegetables, cheddar cheese served with their house baked toast and fruit. i’m definitely going back, and i think i might get that next time! it’s a little pricey, but in exchange you get house made breads and pastries, food from local farmers, and a home-like ambiance. for 6 of us, including food and beverages, the total bill was about $

come on, a $12 half of waffle is ridicules! then u really go to far to charge me $4 for the syrup. i can afford it and that is why iorderedit, but it crossed my mind that it would be the best waffle i ever tasted. that was so far from reality, because it was not even in the top 25 waffles. i have had better at bob evans for $3.95. it's a place at shaker square called zanzibar, that will give you a great waffle, 2pcs of fried chicken and grits for less than $10.

i must say that everything you see listed above was phenomenal…. there were a few items that totally knocked it outta the park (over the moon and out of the galaxy). that *baked mac and cheese? there are angels in heaven who strum their harps and sing every time that one comes out of the oven. did you hear me? angels? playing harps. also, the como toast? fantastic. it’s dense and hearty and…. ahhhhhh. it doesn’t hurt that it comes with a side of homemade jam. i must mention a few items that are not pictured above… weordereda bowl of potato leek soup for the table to share. i could have eaten at least a half gallon of that. it was warm and creamy and perfectly spiced. also, they are cranking out a house made hot sauce that is so unique. it found its way onto the omelette, shipwreck and the cuban. so, if you haven’t guessed it already…. i highly recommend having brunch at lucky’s some lazy saturday morning(ish) in the near future. this review was brought to you by the number 30 and the
