used to be worth it.... used to love luckys. excellent food for a fair price, and even worth the long wait to get in. ever since getting some national publicity, the prices are exaggerated for what you get. i agree with other reviewers about this. i don't ever eat there anymore. there are other greatbrunchspots around tremont that charge at least 1/3 less with food that is very good too.

such a gem!!. i had the pleasure of dining at lucky's cafe this past weekend forbrunchand found the food divine!! lucky's is a charming little spot in tremont that promotes local sources of food. the freshness of their ingredients is obvious within the first bite of one of their delectable dishes. i ordered the weekend special- a brie and asparagus omelet served with duck egg hollandaise, house made bread and hash browns. it was spectacular-comforting and rich, but not overwhelmingly so. a few dashes of their house made hot sauce helped the hash browns to disappear quickly. and their fresh berry jam was such a treat- especially considering my usual indifference toward jams, jellies and the like. i can't wait to return!!!

worst ever restaurant experience - do not go!. we are eastsiders who wanted to come to the westside to see what guy fieri was so excited about. last sunday we came after church forbrunchwith our three kids under the age of 10 and realized the wait would be in excess of an hour and inquired if we came back another day if we could make a reservation. we were told they had a no reservation for parties less than 6 policy but that if we called when we were about 15 minutes from the restaurant they would put us on the waiting list. so, this sunday we were all ready. after church we started driving and when we were 15 minutes out called and got our name on the list. we were told it would be an additional wait of 30 minutes once we got there. we prepared the children for an additional 30 minute wait. an hour later we were still waiting...but being patient. i knew we were next to be seated and had been keeping track of who was being seated so i could help the kids manage. i confirmed with the hostess that we were the next large table and she explained that she had to sit a reservation for a party of 4 in front of us. i said, we were told you didn't take reservations for parties less than six. she explained that this was a vip who worked for the company and she was very sorry but we would be seated after them. i asked to speak to her manager. the manager approached the hostess stand and said "do you have a problem?" and i explained my story. i was interrupted by a woman who said, "i am the vip who has the reservation...it is my birthday...". at this point i am seeing red! we have driven two times from the east side, played by their rules, managed our very hungry children (by now it is 1:45pm), and are told this all doesn't matter because of some vip. terrible customer service! not a place i want to patronize. we ended up driving back to our neighborhood and ate a delicious lunch at our favorite neighborhood spot instead.

we came for sundaybrunchafter reading online reviews. horrible! there was a 20min wait. we had a beverage and pastry while waiting = $20.00.
there was no where to wait. it was very cramped and unpleasant. finally we were seated at a dirty picnic table with birds on it, doing
what birds do.
when ordering the server refused to remove spinach from a omelet.refused to do a made to order omelet. then when trying to order a waffle the server said syrup was a additional$5.00!
finally we settled with a scrambler type meal "shipwreck" which had toast. i tried to order gravy. i was told they don't do sides of gravy. so i paid a additional $15.00 for a biscuit w gravy!
when the food runner arrived he inquired why we had 3 plates with only 2 of us. i explained that the server stated they were "dangerously" (lol) low on gravy. he seemed to acknowledge the absurdity of it all and offered to return the biscuit&gravy to return with a side bowl.
instead a behemoth butch man hating wynona judd looking chef/owner returned carrying the now gelatinous plate of b&g. interrupting ourbrunchand hatefully barking off, "what's the problem here. i stated no problem & asked if she had a problem?
she asked, did the server not explain that we are "dangerously low on gravy" (lol makes me laugh every time) i replied yes, thats why i ordered a b&g at $15.00
instead of a side bowl. but i then explained how her other employee said that was not the case offered to bring a side. (the only polite person in the whole restaurant)
i then stated that my only problem is that the overpriced food we had ordered was getting cold while she was on her tirade. she barked back, "do you want this or not" i said i didn't care. she threw the plate on the table and left. i cant imagine anyone ever paying $80.00 for such b.s.
go to pier w at that price point. or go to ihop for better food. the worst ever! please don't go!

dissapointment. on a family trip through the midwest we spent a day in cleveland. during the trip we decided to seek out places featured on triple d. so while in cleveland we stopped at lucky's for lunch on sunday. we arrived around 11am and the placed was packed! it must be good, we were excited! we waited 1hour 40minutes. the signs in the restarant say that guy f. had the mac and chees as well as the reuben. the service was greta, everyone including the manager were very polite. well, after our 1 hour 40 minute wait and the anticipation of trying the two dishes. they were out of the mac and cheese! how in the world...as a restaurant...could you run out of one of your signature dishes?! you are featured on triple d and drawing crowds how can you run out!? what a dissapointment! i would not reccomend going on a sunday during the crazy busybrunchtime, no guarantee they will not run out. one other note, there is no kids menu. so if your kids do not like fresh made all natural foods you might choose another place. of course it was our son who wanted the mac and cheese... well, he waited the 1 hour 40 then waited for us to eat before he got lunch elsewhere.

with the exception of the lack of service (after taking our order or server never came back except to bring the check),brunchwas fantastic. it’s a place that i definitely would take friends or family that came to visit to show them that there is great food to be found in cleveland. and it’s a place that i want to go back to…i mean there are biscuits and gravy on the menu…

i must say that everything you see listed above was phenomenal…. there were a few items that totally knocked it outta the park (over the moon and out of the galaxy). that *baked mac and cheese? there are angels in heaven who strum their harps and sing every time that one comes out of the oven. did you hear me? angels? playing harps. also, the como toast? fantastic. it’s dense and hearty and…. ahhhhhh. it doesn’t hurt that it comes with a side of homemade jam. i must mention a few items that are not pictured above… we ordered a bowl of potato leek soup for the table to share. i could have eaten at least a half gallon of that. it was warm and creamy and perfectly spiced. also, they are cranking out a house made hot sauce that is so unique. it found its way onto the omelette, shipwreck and the cuban. so, if you haven’t guessed it already…. i highly recommend havingbrunchat lucky’s some lazy saturday morning(ish) in the near future. this review was brought to you by the number 30 and the

food with arrogance. breakfast should not be an exercise in arrogance.

we went for a simplebrunchon a saturday. when i ordered their waffle , i asked if they could leave off their compote/tofu/almond/organic fruit/hummus/yogurt/black truffle/walnut topping. he also ordered the maple syrup at $4.00 extra.

the ever so hipster server made a sad face and said in a tone that is usually reserved for when one has to speak to the simple minded, that the "chef" had already chastised him once that day because he had asked for a "substitution" on an order.

i explained that he was not asking the chef to substitute anything, but rather just save a step in preparation and the cost of the ingredients, by not ladling them onto his waffle. we noted that i was willing to pay the $4.00 penalty for the organic maple syrup. (how are maple trees not organic). the waiter said again that this was impossible and made a very sad face because we such cretins.

no matter how hip and relevant a restaurant thinks they are, it does not justify treating the clientele with such disrespect.

if you want the hippest food with the most arrogant attitude , then lucky's in your kind of place. otherwise run away as fast as you can

disappointing experience. strict no substitutions policy.. the charming atmosphere of the outdoor dining area couldn't bear the weight of the limited and inflexible menu served by a staff that made me feel like i was asking for too much wanting a side of scrambled eggs for breakfast.

lucky's cafe reminded me of places i've been in maine with casual picnic tables in the midst of a garden. our server started out charming and witty, but things took a turn when i wanted to order a dish called the shipwreck without bacon. she asked the manager and the answer was "no". i then asked if i could have a side of scrambled eggs with an order of pancakes. again the answer was "no" and the excuse was the small kitchen didn't allow them the luxury of substitutions.

mybrunchcompanions thought the food was good, but overpriced. the blueberry smoothies were exceptionally good, but not worth it at $5.95 each.

i doubt i'll return to lucky's when there are so many other great breakfast places nearby (grumpie's, west side market cafe) where side orders are commonplace and the service is better.

not on the weekend!. if you are a vegetarian, vegan, or have any food allergies, stay away from lucky's on the weekend. while i don't mind at all waiting for a table for good food, the menu is extremely limited and the staff even more so. we met some friends forbrunchlast weekend and the staff rudely refused to not put cheese on my vegan son's child's platter. they also are unable to remove meat from any egg dish. i won't be eating here again. i understand having to manage a kitchen; but, this is sad, sad customer service for an up and coming diner. we ate the only thing we could, toast (de-lish!) and hightailed it over to johnny mango's for a real meal. i would highly suggest to lucky's that they offer additional vegetarian and vegan options or make exceptions for people with lactose intolerance or other food allergies.

outstanding. i went forbrunchthis past sunday and expected a long wait, but was willing to give it a try anyway. i took 4 people with me, because we had all heard great things but had never been. we did have to wait for about 30 minutes so we were very hungry when we sat down. one of my friends was already being a bit high maintenance because of this and the price he saw on one of the menus. all i can say is that it didn't take long to turn him around. the place was packed for a reason. the staff was informed and friendly. the coffee hot and plentiful and the food.............there isn't enough room to say what i want to say. i can't wait to take more friends. yes, it is more expensive then your neighborhood diner, but worth every penny.they hav officially ruined all other ruebens for me. it was amazing! the mac-n-cheese is still on my mind and the waffles took me back to a place when my grandmother was alive and would cook for me after picking apples off her tree in the back yard. worth the wait and worth the money. i will share more after my next visit.......hopefully this next weekend.

love the food, hate the service (lately). i want to write a great review for lucky's cause i remeber before it all exploded it was such a cute spot to grab a coffee and scone and chill. forget that now, you can barely even get in the place anymore!
went forbrunchon nov.1st and waited 45 minutes to sit. i'm fine with that, it's a busy sunday, so we grabbed a couple lattes from the bar and hung out outside on the picnic tables for a while. got sat, and it went downhill from there.
the service was so bad. our waiter came over to greet us with this big long speech that was so not necessary and a waste of his very highly demanded time per my opinion. we ordered waters and soup to start. then order our brunch. meanwhile, we got the soup from someone other than our server, still no waters. nobody came to check on us, or ask if we needed anything to drink despite the fact that there was nothing on our table. we flagged down the "hostess" to ask for water, and asked for our waiter so that we could add bacon and an espresso to our order. he never came. we got our food, without any of the condiments promised from our waiter, and asked the kitchen runner for an order of bacon. i asked the table next to me for salt, pepper, hot sauce. halfway through the meal, our waiter popped over, and we ordered the espresso, and got our bacon order. 20 minutes later we were done, and we still had no espresso. he came over with the bill which included the espresso on it, and noticed that we never got it.
i love lucky's and i hate that the service has become like this because of the crowds. but it's no excuse. you were on national television and you knew this was coming. the staff needs to step it up a notch here and learn how to move with a sense of urgency. other then that, the food was amazing, the kitchen was timely, and the lattes' were great. i will return, and hopefully they'll have found their groove again by then.
