good food but look elsewhere. i tried to make reservations there for mothers day and can't believe a business would operate this way. i called and was told to leave my name and phone number for a callbackfor a reservation 'request'. i never received a call back. i tried to call again and was told by amber that she was too busy and would only take 'requests' or answer questions from 3-5. i tried to call again today, (because i wasn't sitting by my phone waiting to call lucky's during their free period,) and now get a recording saying 'the person you are calling, can't take your call'.

to top it off i was told by a friend that her reservation request is just a request. lucky's will call the day before mothers day and let her know if they will honor her request , or not.

try the inn on coventry if you want a great breakfast. i thought lucky's was a good second choice but not with the way they run their business.

we ate here while visiting cleveland and had a splendid experience. this locally sourced fare is amazing! we were a large group and ordered many different dishes--all were phenomenal! and the service we experienced was pleasantly attentive. we will gobacknext time we're in town!

great food, horrible atmosphere. i feel so mixed writing this review.

the food here tastes amazing.

yet the experience of eating here is really rough. if you want to re-live the worst parts of middle or high school the wait staff will happily oblige.

trust me, no matter how cool you are, you are not cool enough for the staff that works there. you want a water refill? be assured of a nasty comment along with a glare. you are the jerk for asking.

i have visited three times.

all three times the food has been out of this world delicious. all three times i have been treated like trash by the wait staff.

i crave their biscuits and gravy, they are, hands down, the best i have ever had.

i wentbackafter the first visit when a waitress, literally, yelled at me (in front of the whole restaurant) for signing my name in to the wait list without her permission. i wentbackwhen i was told asking for substitutions was not allowed. i wentbackwhen i was confronted for using the restroom without permission. i really want to gobackagain, i am just afraid of what i might do wrong.

visit if you want great food and have a very strong will.

worst ever restaurant experience - do not go!. we are eastsiders who wanted to come to the westside to see what guy fieri was so excited about. last sunday we came after church for brunch with our three kids under the age of 10 and realized the wait would be in excess of an hour and inquired if we camebackanother day if we could make a reservation. we were told they had a no reservation for parties less than 6 policy but that if we called when we were about 15 minutes from the restaurant they would put us on the waiting list. so, this sunday we were all ready. after church we started driving and when we were 15 minutes out called and got our name on the list. we were told it would be an additional wait of 30 minutes once we got there. we prepared the children for an additional 30 minute wait. an hour later we were still waiting...but being patient. i knew we were next to be seated and had been keeping track of who was being seated so i could help the kids manage. i confirmed with the hostess that we were the next large table and she explained that she had to sit a reservation for a party of 4 in front of us. i said, we were told you didn't take reservations for parties less than six. she explained that this was a vip who worked for the company and she was very sorry but we would be seated after them. i asked to speak to her manager. the manager approached the hostess stand and said "do you have a problem?" and i explained my story. i was interrupted by a woman who said, "i am the vip who has the reservation...it is my birthday...". at this point i am seeing red! we have driven two times from the east side, played by their rules, managed our very hungry children (by now it is 1:45pm), and are told this all doesn't matter because of some vip. terrible customer service! not a place i want to patronize. we ended up drivingbackto our neighborhood and ate a delicious lunch at our favorite neighborhood spot instead.

what a gem!. my friend and i were visiting from out of town to see a friend here in cleveland, boy did she make the right choice in restaurants! steel cut oatmeal, quite creamy with fruit and so yummy, plus and baked egg with spinacha and parmesan cheese, and homemade multi grain toast. my friends' meals were equally as good. if i ever comebackto tremont, lucky's will be my first stop!!

great food. we chose lucky's to celebrate our son's birthday.
food - hubby had the reuben omelet with goat cheese. the corned beef hash was homemade, and the potatoes were very tasty. my son had the shipwreck which he was very pleased with. i had the hash with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce and i was pleasantly surprised to find my eggs weren't runny! we all shared an order of biscuits and gravy, and that meal once again was incredible. of course we had to try a dessert. my son had a chocolate mousse bomb, hubby had the s'more, and i had the coconut orange cake topped with the most decadent buttercream frosting i have ever tasted. all i can say is that the desserts were better than i have probably ever had. i would stop by just to grab some baked goods. i am impressed with the "farm to table" restaurants and this is no exception.
atmosphere - i was glad our family dined while it wasn't very busy so we were able to get a table and not sit atop anyone. it was clean and we were comfortable. i didn't like that the restroom is shared by men and women and while pottying you stare at a urinal, but it was clean.
staff - the staff work as a team which is a really neat concept. although our waitress was very knowledgeable and entertaining she was very slow in getting water and coffee to the table. two tables of two had sat down after us and had drinks before we did. the other staff women we interacted with were just as friendly and helpful as our initial waitress.
all in all it was a great experience (i am sure the company had a little something to do with it) and my family will beback(there are a few more things on the menu i need to try).

ready to drivebackto cleveland on weekends for breakfast there. we went to cleveland on sunday sept. 23 and had to stop at luckys. saw it on dd&d a couple yearsbackand knew if i ever went to cleveland we had to eat there. we got there around 10:00am and had a 20 minute wait that was pleasantly spent talking to other customers, the owners mother, and some cleveland brown's fans. we are from pittsburgh and steeler fans and they were still nice to us :)! the 2 girls ahead of us on the wait list said they had no problem allowing someone else sit at their 4 top so we did. i must say the people of cleveland are sooooo friendly. patrick waited on us and he was great, so helpful and attentive. when he asked what, i wanted i said i've know for the last two year, the biscuits and sausage gravy, of course. the food was wonderful. on the way out we talked to the owner's mother again, such a friendly woman. it was my boyfriends birthday so she gave him one of their wonderful red velvet cupcakes. we ate it on the way into cleveland, even though we were already stuffed. lucky's was a little pricy for breakfast but well worth it. i'm ready to drivebacksome weekend just to have breakfast there. i read anther review on here from a diane that liked it and praised patrick. that review isn't me. name and day is a coincidence.

with the exception of the lack of service (after taking our order or server never camebackexcept to bring the check), brunch was fantastic. it’s a place that i definitely would take friends or family that came to visit to show them that there is great food to be found in cleveland. and it’s a place that i want to gobackto…i mean there are biscuits and gravy on the menu…

exactly what's wrong with the cleveland food scene. we went to lucky's last october after visiting the zoo. it was my wife's birthday and she had wanted to try lucky's since it was on ddd (not always a good indicator) we parked and walked in. not to busy for a weekday, and several open tables. we were told we could have a seat anywhere. the kids wanted to sit at the table by the front window. ok.

we sat at the table. there were several other empty tables. there were business people there. there were moms there with kids. there were a few older couples. we sat. there were two women standing behind the counter. no on made any move to greet us, take drink orders, acknowledge our existence on this planet. nothing. we sat.

after about fifteen minutes the guy clearing the next table said someone would be with us. we sat. the two women ten feet from us behind the counter made no move to acknowledge us, and actually started to look kind of hostile. my wife was starting to get frustrated, she really wanted to eat there, but finally said "let's go." we stood up, put on our coats, and headed for the door. only then did i hear "is everything..." but didn't hear the rest as we were out the door.

so obviously this is not a review about the food, but about the service (or lack thereof) from the other reviews i've read, that seems to be the common factor at lucky's. i tried contacting them via e-mail, but got no response. my comments on another site (rhymes with kelp) were removed, and i expect these will be too at some point.

service such as this is why people go to chains, which the ncg's despise. at chains, they at least give you the impression that they are happy you chose them. they get you in, take your order, serve you, and keep the chit chat to a minimum. at places like lucky's, they expect you to feel lucky (ironic) that they have allowed you to dine there. lucky's is the first place in cleveland i've been made to feel that way, but i've heard similar stories about other places. i wouldn't gobackif it was a free meal, and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. war on the ncg's (you know who you are)

ps. we ended up at the steak and shake in steelyard commons and enjoyed it thoroughly.

outstanding. i went for brunch this past sunday and expected a long wait, but was willing to give it a try anyway. i took 4 people with me, because we had all heard great things but had never been. we did have to wait for about 30 minutes so we were very hungry when we sat down. one of my friends was already being a bit high maintenance because of this and the price he saw on one of the menus. all i can say is that it didn't take long to turn him around. the place was packed for a reason. the staff was informed and friendly. the coffee hot and plentiful and the food.............there isn't enough room to say what i want to say. i can't wait to take more friends. yes, it is more expensive then your neighborhood diner, but worth every penny.they hav officially ruined all other ruebens for me. it was amazing! the mac-n-cheese is still on my mind and the waffles took mebackto a place when my grandmother was alive and would cook for me after picking apples off her tree in thebackyard. worth the wait and worth the money. i will share more after my next visit.......hopefully this next weekend.
