lp’s is a greatplaceto go if you want something that feels a little bit special, but is still accessible and easy to eat. i found the food to be a little bit on the too-simple side, but i enjoyed the quality of the produce, as well as the bold, classic flavours. it is also pretty pricey, and i would personally much rather spend the dollars at ester, which is literally just around the corner. but with that said, i had a great time at lp’s, and would be happy to come back and have a go at their steaks and smoked potatoes; it just wasn’t quite as outstanding as i had built it up in my mind to be.

location is a little out of the way but still walkable from central station (or even town hall; what i did). i first noticed a lot of working people in the restaurant, i suppose it is a popular post-work haunt as they do have a nice selection of drinks. overall had a very classy atmosphere to theplaceand they have an open kitchen.

service was very helpful and they patiently explained to us that salami cotto was cooked whereas salumi was cold cut. we got the salumi, smoked beef short rib, porchetta, mash & gravy, sourdough and butter, applewood smoked ocean trout and smoked shoulder ham.

my favourites were the ocean trout and the porchetta! the trout had such a lovely mix of flavours to it, so creamy and tasty. the pork belly had the crunchiest skin and juicy meat. the salumi was also very smokey, and the short rib sooo very soft. special mention to the mash & gravy, amazing buttery goodness but it was a little tooo mushy for my taste.

overall was a great experience, quite pricey so would only recommend for a splurge every now and then or for a special occasion.

vegetarian – ancient tribal slang for the village idiot who can’t hunt, fish or ride’if you subscribe to this, then lp’s quality meats is the spot for you!tucked away in dark laneways in the middle of nowhere, chippendale, are some of the hottest trendy restaurants of the moment. lp’s quality meats is one of those for the caveman in you.there are plenty of accessible public transport options to get you to broadway, or at least central station. from there, it’s a 5-10minute walk through the narrow streets of this interesting suburb. you’ll go past art galleries that are too weird for my liking, the hottest bars that have no visible entrance and dodgiest looking petrol station chinese takeaways that’ll almost guarantee instant weight loss.if your chair is on the big side, you may have to go on the road at times, because the sidewalks are way to narrow with lots of poles.then you get to this spot. wide doors, all flat, even comes with a friendly bouncer, so roll straight in people and let the feast begin!the inside is extremely simple, like most of these hipster joints. there’s no  carpet, easy to push and get around. table height is low but bar stools are high, not ideal, however workable.if smoky meat is your thing then thisplaceis heaven. the beef short rib is to die for, even simple sides like homemade sourdough and corn are surprisingly delicious. if you don’t know where to start, go for the platter. the sauces are delicious, and pickles are a must, their mustard is a bit funky for me, but since you don’t pay extra for it, just top up more of the other stuff. if you are there with a good size group, why don’t you mix it up with some seafood too? octopus is a not-so-fishy choice.thisplacebooks out quickly, so make sure you reserve a table in advance.the kitchen is more than happy to cut the meat up into small pieces before serving, but hey, who wants that? there’s that extra hint of wildness if you just grab the whole chunk and wolf it down.the whole venue is well set up for easy access. the bathroom is spacious and practical, comes with a pot plant and a table for your bag, and get this… a scented candle.the toilet seat comes with a soft padded back support cushion for all of us that don’t like leaning forward, and extra toilet paper is there too if you accidentally eat way too much meat for your digestive system.great food, good atmosphere, if it wasn’t a little too loud and crowded, i’d give it full marks.all and all, 4/5 for the restaurant and 5/5 for access.-march on

lp’s quality meats as the name suggest serves up a wide array of smoked and cured meats, fish is also on the menu with some non meat sides.  its in a lane way in chippendale not really aplaceyou would expect to find a restaurant or just walk by. all of the dishes i had were excellent, simple food done really well. if your in the mood for a meat meal i would defiantly check out lp’s quality meats.   vitello tonnato $16- i did not know what this dish was so had to ask the waiter was told its cold sliced veal covered in a creamy sauce. not something i have had before but i was in the mood for something new so i gave it a go. i’m not the biggest veal fan however this dish was great the meat was soft and full of flavor with out being overpowering. glad i tried it and would defiantly order it again. coppa $15 – hard to go wrong with   cured pork   so good two servings were ordered. 15 hr smoked beef short rib $38 –  the meat was so soft it was just falling off the bone, with the meat has a strong smoked taste to it. pouding chomuer with vanilla ice cream $14 – super sweet tart a great way to finish off a meaty meal. the sweetness of the syrup is balanced with the creaminess of the iced cream, a simple but very tasty dessert.     lp's quality meats unit 1, 16 chippen street, chippendale ph: (02) 8399 0929   http://www.lpsqualitymeats.com/ tuesday to saturday bar menu from 5pm dinner from 6pm–11pm chippendale meat

oh my gosh.... my partner and i have been to lp's quality meats twice now, and to say thisplacecompletely blows our minds is an understatement. the meat! the smoked salmon! the service! everything in thatplaceis pure class - the waiters and waitresses seem like they genuinely want to be there, which is a rarity these days. the quality of food is outstanding; two standouts for me are the beef short rib and the smoked salmon. the short rib is so good that the only words my partner spoke to me for twenty minutes were "mmmm...mmm". the smoked salmon is a great alternative for someone who is not keen on the meat sweats; the beautiful smokey flavour takes away some of the 'fishiness' that can sometimes come with salmon, and it is served on a bed of creme freche and capers (which are also smoked). thanks lp's - we won't find it hard to create another occasion for us to return for.

lp’s is set to close and become a purely wholesale. we had heard thisplacewas good so had to make sure we visited before it’s closure. in the backstreets of chippendale, you will find this neighbourhood restaurant, reminiscent of a german beer hall. it is a huge kitchen and bar encompassing the whole right hand side of the restaurant. the left side has plenty of long communal tables.

while initially ambivalent about coming here because of the whopping price of one rib ($59), we wanted to see what all the fuss was about and to our delight, lp quality meats did not disappoint. that beef rib was insanely good. we also got the porchetta which was also very tasty but perhaps a bit too fatty for my liking and i’d probably try their other dishes next visit.
service was top notch, the staff were hella friendly and attentive despite the busyness of the restaurant.
can’t wait to visit thisplaceagain!

will come back for:
+ beef short ribs
+ smoked sausages
+ village salad
+ pastassio ice cream

came here with a couple of mates for a quick meal and a couple of beers, and was suitably impressed by the smoked meats! the ribs were some of the best i have had anywhere (on the bone, super tender and just the right level of smokiness), the smoked sausages where also nicely smoked and flavorsome. we also shared a couple of desserts but the highlight for me was the pastassio ice cream, packed with pastassio and super creamy. great little eatery (it was packed for a tuesday night) but service was great and friendly, and theplacewas rustic and modern. price is on the fine dining end of the spectrum but the ribs were worth it! will be back.

if you’re looking for food late at night then this is oneplaceyou can call. dark and relaxed vibe in the back streets of chippendale. they make their own salumi- we tried the mortadella and salami. the mortadella was slightly garlicky but still enjoyable. it came with dark sourdough, a huge jalepenõ, salty butter and olives. the beef tartare was lovely too. different with the caviar added, gave it another level complexity to the dish.
the beef short rib was my favourite. so smokey! i’d love to come back again for the porchetta.

if you're a meat lover then lp's quality meats is theplaceto go. i was pleasantly surprised by the amazing smoked meats served here. we ordered the smoked beef short rib, smoked chicken, smoked sausage and shaved zucchini (to balance the amount of meat ordered!). everything tasted really good but the standout for me was the smoked beef short rib which was cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious. i also really liked the pesto sauce(?) which was served as part of the meat platter.

too fatty and rich for me. gave me a tummy ache.
the porchetta looks amazing but only if you can stomach the fat - i dont really like the texture of fat (6-7mm layers rolled within the porchetta)
i know some like it but not for me.
croquette pigs head too rich - loves the apple mustard though
terrine - has better. husband like it though
sausage - same, can cook nicer at home
spinach - yuck, such a off glamour and not pleasant

service not great either, staff too busy chatting to one another at the counter

disappointed overall as enjoyed it last time

although having just one poorly lit photo, we had an amazing experience at lp's!

looking for a late night eat, we stumbled upon lp's quality meats in one of the alleyways of chippendale. entering through the wooden framed automatic doors, we were transported to a funky yet fancy environment. lp's was happening with everyone in the restaurant very obviously having a good time. we were immediately greeted by friendly faces and were served professionally with great recommendations to top.

we ordered the boudin (sausage), smoked beef short rib, porchetta, bread rolls and beans. the food was amazing! the boudin was sweet and extremely tasty, the beef rib was tender and juicy, the porchetta was perfectly cooked and the bread rolls were great complements to all the meats. we got a few drinks from lp's too, and had no issues with them.

overall, lp's is a greatplaceif your looking for aplaceto date or catch up and drink with friends. it's especially good for meat lovers! would definitely recommend this lp'splaceto anyone!

i feel like a gluttonous suckling pig, but i like it!
thisplaceis a fat and sugar overload. a couple of suggestions when you come here:
1. if you're on a date night ask to be seated at the tables near the front - they are quieter and better suited. we were placed on a share table at the back so asked to be moved.
2. order something with acidity for a side dish, the mash potato and the kale salad were both excellent but very sweet so it didn't balance with the meat very well.
for the entree the mortodella and salami cotto were excellent, paired with really fine olives and dijon mustard.
the eggplant parmagiano was definitely a highlight.
for mains we ordered the smoked beef short rib - it lived up to the hype. it was incredibly tender and very fatty.. yum. the whole rolled lab was excellent as well - it's a side of lamb with a moroccan sausage rolled up in the middle.
all in all a worthwhile experience, although not cheap.
service was extremely attentive and friendly.
