along with a trillion other eateries, lp's qualitymeatshas been on my radar for some time although it was never at the top of the priority list. i was aware that it existed and it seemed decent but i hadn't really investigated it and didn't feel particularly compelled to. i finally paid some more attention to it when researching dinner spots for a catch-up with vee, who expressed her interest when i suggested it.

we rocked up on a wednesday night without a reservation and were seated immediately. the restaurant is set in a spacious warehouse (right next to ester!) with communal dining tables so there is a lot of seating. they seated us and other couples at right angles on table corners, perfect for knocking knees with a love interest.

being fickle foodies, vee and i took some time deciding what to order. the waitress suggested about 3 dishes to share between us, so we opted for two starters and one main. as the name suggests, the focus is on meat so meat was the starring element of each dish.

the smoked beef tongue arrived first. whilst tongue may not be up everyone's alley - and understandably so - we were intrigued by how it would be served and how it would work with its accompaniments, which outweighed its potentially strange taste. i needn't have worried though: my tastebuds began doing a happy dance when i took my first bite. the dish was tender, fatty and flavoursome. the beef tongue was sliced very thinly and took on the flavours of the bone marrow oil and vinaigrette. the oil was very indulgent but also very moreish.

next came the grilled octopus. it looked like it was served in a watery bolognese-type sauce but never fear, it was much tastier than that. the octopus was definitely the star of this dish, outshining the sauce, which whilst pleasant, wasn't a knockout in terms of flavour. there certainly could have been more chorizo but i suppose they didn't want the chorizo to compete with the octopus. the octopus was well-grilled: it was cooked but not overly rubbery and had an alluring smokey flavour. so far, so good.

there was a bit of a delay between our starters and our main but it was worth the wait. the porchetta was served with a selection of lp's sauces: chimmichurri, chilli and mustard, each adding a different flavour to the porchetta. i liked the chilli best. but how was the porchetta itself? well, i am not a huge pork fan, but i do like my roast pork so this was quite up my alley. there is decent, average pork belly and then there is lp's porchetta. the porchetta was wonderfully soft and tender, falling apart easily at our knives' mercies. the cut had a good ratio of meat to fat, giving it a juicy and fatty flavour but not overwhelmingly so.

i almost considered not ordering dessert since there are only 3 dishes and the menu is very light on their details so they didn't particularly appeal to me but vee set me straight. she is a coffee addict so naturally we ordered the coffee granita dessert, which was more or less what the menu said: a layered coffee granita and cream trifle, served with biscotti on the side. to be honest, there was nothing really stand-out about the dish but it was a refreshing palate cleanser after all the meat. the meat is undoubtedly lp's specialty.

overall, lp's is a very solid dinner option, especially for the meat-lover. whilst it may not be one of the immediate restaurants that jumps to my mind when i think of dinner places, i will be sure to keep it in a mental back drawer as a cool group hangout.

vegetarian – ancient tribal slang for the village idiot who can’t hunt, fish or ride’if you subscribe to this, then lp’s qualitymeatsis the spot for you!tucked away in dark laneways in the middle of nowhere, chippendale, are some of the hottest trendy restaurants of the moment. lp’s qualitymeatsis one of those for the caveman in you.there are plenty of accessible public transport options to get you to broadway, or at least central station. from there, it’s a 5-10minute walk through the narrow streets of this interesting suburb. you’ll go past art galleries that are too weird for my liking, the hottest bars that have no visible entrance and dodgiest looking petrol station chinese takeaways that’ll almost guarantee instant weight loss.if your chair is on the big side, you may have to go on the road at times, because the sidewalks are way to narrow with lots of poles.then you get to this spot. wide doors, all flat, even comes with a friendly bouncer, so roll straight in people and let the feast begin!the inside is extremely simple, like most of these hipster joints. there’s no  carpet, easy to push and get around. table height is low but bar stools are high, not ideal, however workable.if smoky meat is your thing then this place is heaven. the beef short rib is to die for, even simple sides like homemade sourdough and corn are surprisingly delicious. if you don’t know where to start, go for the platter. the sauces are delicious, and pickles are a must, their mustard is a bit funky for me, but since you don’t pay extra for it, just top up more of the other stuff. if you are there with a good size group, why don’t you mix it up with some seafood too? octopus is a not-so-fishy choice.this place books out quickly, so make sure you reserve a table in advance.the kitchen is more than happy to cut the meat up into small pieces before serving, but hey, who wants that? there’s that extra hint of wildness if you just grab the whole chunk and wolf it down.the whole venue is well set up for easy access. the bathroom is spacious and practical, comes with a pot plant and a table for your bag, and get this… a scented candle.the toilet seat comes with a soft padded back support cushion for all of us that don’t like leaning forward, and extra toilet paper is there too if you accidentally eat way too much meat for your digestive system.great food, good atmosphere, if it wasn’t a little too loud and crowded, i’d give it full marks.all and all, 4/5 for the restaurant and 5/5 for access.-march on

lp’s qualitymeatsas the name suggest serves up a wide array of smoked and cured meats, fish is also on the menu with some non meat sides.  its in a lane way in chippendale not really a place you would expect to find a restaurant or just walk by. all of the dishes i had were excellent, simple food done really well. if your in the mood for a meat meal i would defiantly check out lp’s quality meats.   vitello tonnato $16- i did not know what this dish was so had to ask the waiter was told its cold sliced veal covered in a creamy sauce. not something i have had before but i was in the mood for something new so i gave it a go. i’m not the biggest veal fan however this dish was great the meat was soft and full of flavor with out being overpowering. glad i tried it and would defiantly order it again. coppa $15 – hard to go wrong with   cured pork   so good two servings were ordered. 15 hr smoked beef short rib $38 –  the meat was so soft it was just falling off the bone, with the meat has a strong smoked taste to it. pouding chomuer with vanilla ice cream $14 – super sweet tart a great way to finish off a meaty meal. the sweetness of the syrup is balanced with the creaminess of the iced cream, a simple but very tasty dessert.     lp's qualitymeatsunit 1, 16 chippen street, chippendale ph: (02) 8399 0929   http://www.lpsqualitymeats.com/ tuesday to saturday bar menu from 5pm dinner from 6pm–11pm chippendale meat

oh my gosh.... my partner and i have been to lp's qualitymeatstwice now, and to say this place completely blows our minds is an understatement. the meat! the smoked salmon! the service! everything in that place is pure class - the waiters and waitresses seem like they genuinely want to be there, which is a rarity these days. the quality of food is outstanding; two standouts for me are the beef short rib and the smoked salmon. the short rib is so good that the only words my partner spoke to me for twenty minutes were "mmmm...mmm". the smoked salmon is a great alternative for someone who is not keen on the meat sweats; the beautiful smokey flavour takes away some of the 'fishiness' that can sometimes come with salmon, and it is served on a bed of creme freche and capers (which are also smoked). thanks lp's - we won't find it hard to create another occasion for us to return for.

finally got a bbq box to go with variousmeatsof theirs that i've found at other establishments. well, they certainly smoke well. the chicken and the pork ribs were simply the best smokedmeatsthat i've ever eaten. also the most expensive. so i can't really recommend anything else at these prices. the basic sausage that's all over sydney now is very boring, as is the chorizo. i remember some great mortadella though. the sides were all low effort too - terrible sauce, mash, gravy. that chicken and pork though...

deliciousmeats& sides here at lp’s

i loved the low lit, intimacy of the restaurant. it felt fancy but also casual at the same time, especially sitting up on the high tables.

the meat here was a highlight & stand out.
the wagyu tartare was so yummy. it was tender but also a bit chewey which i loved. the sauce was acidic which cut through the rich wagyu.
the octopus was a bit on the chewey side but bbq’d so nicely & had a good smokey flavour.
the lamb ribs that were ordered were so beautifully cooked. the meat fell off the bone & was so tasty. the sauces it was served with were all very different, from being very zesty to spicy, which gave a good choice of flavour to pair the lamb with.
i loved the pumpkin salad, which added some volume to the meal & filled me up.

the service was really nice & gave us some awesome recommendations on dishes to try which was great

lp’s qualitymeatsis a meat lovers paradise. i am not much of a meat eater but wanted to try it nonetheless as i had heard so much about it. it’s quality meat indeed. we had the chef’s menu for $70 and there was more than enough food. the meat was tasty, packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. the salads were lovely, especially the cucumber one (pictured). the highlight for me was a canadian sweet called pouding chomeur (pictured) for dessert. it’s a maple and pecan pudding that is luscious and i think the ultimate comfort food. #meatlover #chippendale

while initially ambivalent about coming here because of the whopping price of one rib ($59), we wanted to see what all the fuss was about and to our delight, lp qualitymeatsdid not disappoint. that beef rib was insanely good. we also got the porchetta which was also very tasty but perhaps a bit too fatty for my liking and i’d probably try their other dishes next visit.
service was top notch, the staff were hella friendly and attentive despite the busyness of the restaurant.
can’t wait to visit this place again!

if you're a meat lover then lp's qualitymeatsis the place to go. i was pleasantly surprised by the amazing smokedmeatsserved here. we ordered the smoked beef short rib, smoked chicken, smoked sausage and shaved zucchini (to balance the amount of meat ordered!). everything tasted really good but the standout for me was the smoked beef short rib which was cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious. i also really liked the pesto sauce(?) which was served as part of the meat platter.

although having just one poorly lit photo, we had an amazing experience at lp's!

looking for a late night eat, we stumbled upon lp's qualitymeatsin one of the alleyways of chippendale. entering through the wooden framed automatic doors, we were transported to a funky yet fancy environment. lp's was happening with everyone in the restaurant very obviously having a good time. we were immediately greeted by friendly faces and were served professionally with great recommendations to top.

we ordered the boudin (sausage), smoked beef short rib, porchetta, bread rolls and beans. the food was amazing! the boudin was sweet and extremely tasty, the beef rib was tender and juicy, the porchetta was perfectly cooked and the bread rolls were great complements to all the meats. we got a few drinks from lp's too, and had no issues with them.

overall, lp's is a great place if your looking for a place to date or catch up and drink with friends. it's especially good for meat lovers! would definitely recommend this lp's place to anyone!

if you love meat, this place is definitely worth a visit. they have a small but good menu selection from curedmeatsto smoked to sausages and salads and sides. my favourite was the beef rib, a massive rib with tender, melt-off-the-bone deliciousness. i was a bit disappointed with the cocktail though, i forgot the name but it was one with vodka, coconut and pineapple. unfortunately, it sounded delicious on paper but tasted like yucky medicine.
the restaurant had dim lighting so not the best for photos. seating is bench seating style so you share with other patrons. staff are friendly and helpful with food selection. one thing i didn't like was the meaty smell - the place had a butcher's smell - but maybe it's just me because i'm very sensitive to that kind of smell.
i went with a group of 6 and we totalled about $65 each including drinks. overall, a pleasant dinner and i would recommend :)

found this almost by accident taking a back street to get back home on a rainy night and saw a warmly lit meat house with a friendly security guard at the door.

the theme is industrial chic centered along an enormous wood smoking machine decorated like a christmas tree with hanging sausages and adorned on top by whole crispy little chickens and sliced roulade.

this is a place of pressedmeatsgalore, meatsstuffed with meat wrapped in meat skins and basted in meat juices, then smoked and served up on lightly pickled vegetables for all to enjoy.

they have a good range of fish/octopus/vegetarian delicacies as well (so you can bring your vehicle friends as long as they don't have ethical reservations about watching you devour a huge 16 hr smoked brontosaurus rib) not to mention a whole slew of tasty side dishes.

i was very relaxed in the atmosphere of this place, the food and the service were spot on and i will definitely be back.

oh and you 100% need to get the silky smooth duck liver patê if you dine here - amazing!
