we arrived around 8 with 2 other couples, that made 6 people combined. i ordered the crab and corn bisque, it tasted like cream corn and heavy cream, it was so gross. i am still waiting for my food and it has been an hour and still no food. most of us ordered soup as our meal and 1 person ordered nachos and the other a burger, they can't get that order out any faster than an hour? we also noticed that other people who arrived later than us are getting there food before us.goodplace to drink for all ages not agoodplace to eat.

robin would be proud.. loxley's has the most amazing outdoor seating area of any restaurant in lancaster county. it has a great view, and a nice feel to it. they just added a massive upgrade to their outdoor bar area and now have 30 different beers on tap. they expanded the upstairs deck (that's right it's a two-tier deck) area and added more covered seating available now. so for those looking for a nice dining experience outside, loxley's has got you covered.

now let's talk about inside. the interior of the restaurant has a really nice feel to it as well with lots of exposed wood, trimming, and glass work. very suiting for the "loxley" name. they have a bar inside with tvs as well as seating around the bar area with individual tvs at each table (which someone mentioned before as a detractor for a date night location). they also have banquet rooms for parties and lots of seating on the other half of the restaurant away from the bar that would be better suited to "date night" as it's quiet and cozier. so whether you want indoor or outdoor seating for dates or parties, loxley's can offer it to you.

of course if you wanted to see pretty things, you'd go to a museum or art gallery, so let's get on to food. loxley's, unlike chain restaurants, employs a chef. a legitimate, actual, chef. their menu changes throughout the year as new items are added and old ones removed. they have fantastic burgers, delicious pastas, and savory seafood (though i personally don't eat it, but my girlfriend raves about theirs). there's a variety of tasty options on their menu for all tastes and the prices are fair and on par with most chain restaurants. they have a full service bar, and tons of options for beer alongside a drink menu with some deliciously interesting concoctions like the rootbeer moat and archer's arrow. that about covers the food and drink options, so let's talk about how they get to your table.

the staff at loxley's have always been friendly and professional to my friends, family, and myself when we've been there. they're also not afraid to play so for those of you like myself who like to be sarcastic and toy with your servers, they will indeed give it asgoodas they get in my experience.

all things considered, loxley's has a little something for everyone, and why shouldn't they? they are attached to the hotel after all. i don't think they have an identity crisis as some have mentioned. i think they want to make sure that whether you're on a date, just looking to eat, kicking back under the stars, or having a small party; they have what you need. to top it all off, loxley's chooses 3 charities each month (they change) to host as part of their "legend continues" program where you select one charity at the end of the night and they will donate a percentage of their profits from your check to that charity. to reiterate, they give their share of your money to the charity on your behalf. so you can get the feelgoods and all you have to do is eat food.

lastly, no i don't work at loxley's. it just happens to be my favorite restaurant in lancaster county, and withgoodreason.

not too bad, but not as great as expected.. my husband and i decided to check out this place tonight because we wanted somewhere new to try and loxley's seemed to have an awesome menu andgoodreviews. we chose to eat indoors (tonight was humid and a bit rainy) and the atmosphere was nice. the server was ok - she was nice enough to move us somewhere quiet after being sat near a family with a screaming baby. she was polite but not overly friendly and seemed like she was too tired to muster up a lot of smiles and friendliness. she was ok though. the food was alright, some things better than others. we got the calamari appetizer which ended up being a disappointment. while it did come out extremely fast, it could've used an extra minute or two in the fryer and drained a bit better. it was very greasy (actually had a little pool of oil at the bottom of the basket). we didn't care for the tartar sauce served with it either. on to the entrees - my husband got the chicken with penne pasta plus the salad bar. his entree was again alright, but not awesome. he got a salad from the salad bar and seemed to like it well enough, and he really enjoyed the soup of the day (cream of mushroom) that was on the bar. he actually got a second bowl of it. on a side note, the potato salad from the salad bar would have been reallygoodif the potatoes were actually cooked all the way. where i come from, potato salad shouldn't be crunchy. my entree was the crabcake with au gratin potatoes. the crabcake was prettygoodbut again, nothing to write home about (then again, i come from maryland so it's hard to impress me with a crabcake). i loved the potatoes though. the portions could have been bigger and the coffee could have been hotter. we were really impressed with the 5% that goes to charity (you pick one of three charities) - which emulates the whole "take from the rich and give to the poor" idea that the robin hood legend is famous for. overall, thumbs up for the charity and ambiance but the food was just not great enough or large enough portions to be worth the money. also, my husband is having some stomach issues after dinner (about 2 hours later) but i'm going to chalk it up to his occasional seafood sensitivity. we may give this place another shot in the future...but then again, we may just save our money.

edit: i tried this place again after my dad requested it for his birthday lunch. the server was very friendly, and sucked us into getting an appetizer (crab nachos, which happened to be the most expensive one on the menu). the portion was huge and we didn't really have much room for our sandwiches after that. he got the gyro and took the whole thing home. i got a chicken salad wrap, which was supposed to have grapes and almonds in it. there were no almonds, which was a bummer. it wasn't bad, but i wouldn't order it again. still am not impressed with this place.

outdoor dining. the food at loxley's is pretty much what you would get at any chain restaurant. the service isn't particularlygoodand given the food quality, the prices are a little high. the real attraction though is outdoor dining. indoors the decor is a little dated. i would say if you don't need the outdoor ambience pass on loxley's.

renaissance in lancaster. loxley's has a medieval feel with a menu fit for nobility. i had the mussels as an appetizer and the crab cake entree, both exceptional.goodservice, great atmosphere and nice crowd. we stayed afterward for a drink at the bar outside and listened to a jimmy buffet-type band, all on a wednesday night! check it out!

two strikes and you're out.... i've eaten here three or four times over the past year with friends so i feel fairly well qualified to write this. i have to agree with the folks that said the outside ambience is nice. the food is usually well prepared but i would say the portions are a bit small. my complaint is with the quality of service. on two occasions (one about a year ago and another a few weeks ago) the service was terrible. long wait for order to be taken, food to be served, etc. on the last visit the waitress was one of the worst i have encountered (and i eat out a lot). slow is bad but, slow with a bad attitude is worse. food took too long to order, longer to come out (when it did it wasn't too warm), and the time it took to get our checks took even longer. yes, it is a nice place to sit out and eat but...there are other places that are just asgoodwith better service.

had agoodexperience.... i have only eaten here once. i sat outside on the patio, it was comfortable and service was good.

i had the corn and crab chowder. it was pretty good, tasty and chunky. i had a ny strip. it was lean and cooked correctly (rare). i had a draught beer - it was also fine.

i got exactly what i asked for, served prompyly and hot. the atmosphere was nice and a family could go here (i was there on business). based on that single visit, i would return.

big changes from last time!. a year ago wife and i went to loxley's and we left unhappy. we waited forever for a table and when we got sat our service was so so and the food took forever...... well we heard from several friends that kinks seem to be worked out after the initial opening. seriously i guess it should have been expected to have some bumps in the road when you first open an establishment like this. well we went back last evening on a busy friday night. we were a little worried about the wait but the hostess quoted us a perfect time and while we waited we checked out the new upstairs bar. that bar is amazing and the view is not bad either. when we were seated our server arrived within a minute to take our drinks and made us aware of the specials. i went with the sauteed pork loin. it was cooked to perfection. loved every bite of it and will suggest that dish to anyone i talk to. my wife had the crab cake. shes very particular about them but she was very pleased. the presentations are also great. another neat thing we noticed was the great wine selection. by the bottle or glass you will find what you want. i highly recommend trying loxley's out now. even if you did not have agoodfirst experience last year when they first opened, i bet you wont leave unhappy. loxleys's is now my favorite spot in lancaster

luv2eat at loxley's!. this place is really unique. i expected a much longer wait time for such a large place - there must be 300 seats - but we were seated on the top deck in just a few minutes. eating in the trees is so nice!

i got the "outlaw" salmon and the whiskey sauce on it is amazing. my friend got the crab cake and was raving the entire time. we each got the salad bar added to our meals for only $4 and what i thought might be a puny little thing surprised me with fresh fruit & a large amount of fresh options. i know i probably had 1 more than i should have, but the forest tea is really to die for.

our server was amazingly sweet & very attentive for the amount of people she was taking care of. she said the absurdly large party next to us was a soccer team - what restaurant do you know of where you can get an entire team together on a deck and have agoodtime? i was amazed.

i was wary of the prices at first, but was fine with the bill once i had seen the meals. the entrees were beautiful & i would have expected the same caliber & price at a higher-end restaurant without the great atmosphere, so i was happy.

we were stuffed, but i'm intrigued by the look of the burgers that passed us on their way to another table as well as the bailey's irish pudding, so i will be back soon!

not good. we decided to try a new place for dinner one night and after looking through the clipper magazine, we made a decision to go to loxley's. we pulled up to loxley's and were pleasantly surprised to find a very nice outdoor seating area on a nice warm sunday night. it was not crowded, and we were seated right away. it took about 10 minutes for the waiter to come over and greet us, though he was a very cordial person. it then took another 15 minutes for him to come back with our drinks to take our orders. the three of us ordered an appetizer and one entree each (my husband the sirloin steak, myself the loaf of stew, and our friend ordered the porkloin). i thought the prices were pretty high, but figured it must be worth the money. we waited over 45 minutes and didn't even receive the appetizer. we barely saw our waiter during this time so we couldn't even ask what was going on. finally the waiter appeared and sheepishly admitted that he had forgotten to put in our order and that he had thrown it away. he offered to buy us a round of drinks and put our order in again. the three of us weren't in the mood for drinks, so he offered to take 50% off the bill. after he offered this, we figured that we would give it another shot, so we re-ordered our food, nixing the appetizer, hoping that the food order would be put in right away and that we would receive it soon. we waited over another half hour before our food finally came out. during this time, my husband happened to overhear the manager talking about our table and mutter something about "a bunch of kids" in a demeaning tone, which we were offended by because we were not acting in such a way. anyway, my husband's steak wasn't even close to the way he had ordered it (it was almost well-done and he had ordered it medium-rare). the manager came over to ask how things were going and my husband told him about ths steak. the manager apologized and offered to put another steak on the grill for him, but by that time we had already waited an hour and a half for our food, which my husband stated. the manager apologized again and came back with a $15 gift certificate for each of us. the loaf of stew i ordered was notgoodat all, i would highly discourage anyone from ordering it. it was more like horse meat in a tiny bread bowl, in a sauce that resembled cheap stir-fry sauce. our friend commented that his porkloin was okay, but it was a very small portion (it was basically two very thin pork patties atop some mashed potatoes) and he left hungry. we finished our meal and waited for awhile to get the check, which upon examination, we found that we had been charged full price for our meals, there was no 50% off to be found. the waiter insinuated that the gift certificates were supposed to be in place of the 50% off, but to be honest, we would not even have considered staying had the waiter not offered 50% off our meals. the least they could've done was take my husband's steak off the bill since it wasn't prepared correctly. so we ended up spending $75 on three meals that weren't very good. and now we have to come back to this place to use the gift certificates, even though we have no desire. my overall assessment of the place is that the service is pretty bad, the food is not at all worth the price, and that the bar is probably what keeps this place going. it's really a shame because it's a neat concept of a restaurant with the way its built and with donating to charities (though all they really do is jack the food prices up so they have the money to donate, if they even do donate it, who knows). i've talked to a lot of friends and family since then, who have heard nothing but awful things about this place. at this rate, it won't be in business long with this kind of service and the bad reputation it's beginning to develop...there are just too many othergoodplaces to go to in lancaster. don't waste your time!!!

huge disappointment!! won't go back.. i love the renovations.. nice atmostphere but the service and the food were definitely a huge disappointment! we ordered crab and corn bisque.. it took 15 minutes for it to be served and it was lukewarm for starters. bisque is meant to be hearty, creamy; this was like water coming out of a faucet and we found one very small piece of crab and, without exaggeration, maybe a dozen kernels of corn. i told the waitress about it, and she said, "okay, i'll tell the chef." that was it. i had a salad which i have to say wasgoodbut the bread that was served was obviously very old.. the cut edges of the bread were so hard i couldn't even pinch it! it was very obvious the bread sat somewhere for a very long time. my husband had a pannini club, the bread again was stale and "crumbly", and the lettuce was wilted. $36.00 for food that was definitely not fresh and of very very very very poor quality. in today's economy, we definately won't wate any more of our money at this restaurant. once is enough for an experience like this is. unless they make a lot of changes in the food and service department, they'll never get repeat business, at leat, i am certain they won't get ours!
