los cucos mexican cafe

wow - pleasantly surprised. we chose this place on a whim, because we were stuck in sandy and starving. it was late for dinner after 9:00, but when we walked in, we didn't get that dreaded late night scowl; instead we were greeted with smiles, open seats and delicious cocktails soon thereafter. they provide a delicious, roasted salsa and a very light and tasty, cilantro, tomatillo guacamole with chips for every table. the menu is very extensive and loaded with unique and delicous entrees. they have stuffed, deep fried avocados! (didn't try them, but they sound good!) they have chile rellenos stuffed with meat and cheese (another unique offering for most mexican restaurants in the area), but i didn't try them either. we ordered chalupas, with ranchero chicken. these are generously topped with purple cabbage, avocado, cotija, tomatoes and crema fresca served with this fresh, garlicky salsa on the side. we also ordered a mixed platter, el sabroso with four cheese (uber decadant) enchilada, a steak burrito, carnitas, and homemade corn tortillas. all the meat was perfectly seasoned, cooked to tender perfection and pretty amazing overall. the homemade corn tortillas were fantastic, even the beans and rice were very well done. this is a great addition to the mexicanrestaurantscene in the salt lake valley. i will go there again. there is something on the menu for any diner.

horrible. i have never ever left arestaurantafter ordering. last night i did. service was horrible but the food was worse. we ordered queso dip. when it came it was the neon orange "cheese" that comes in a can. my daughters quesadilla had the same neon cheese. my chimichanga came out dry. nothing on top. when i said something to the manager about the cheese he guaranteed me it wasn't from a can and thinking about it, he may be right. it may have come from a bag. save your money. quick trip or the local gas station carries the same food. cheaper and quicker i'm sure. we didn't eat any of the food after tasting the disgusting nacho cheese.

if you want good mexican food and horrible service ask for caesar to wait on you. we went in tonight with a party of 4 and left very disappointed. caesar was more concerned with his co - worker party on the patio then taking care of his last table. if it wasnt for another server cohearsing him to help us and backing him up while he was out on the patio eating and drinking with his off duty worker buddy's, we might not have got served at all . besides, just taking forever with every aspect of our meal and forgetting orders, he told us they were out of corn tortillas . (after the food arrived) my wife was furious because she can't eat gluten . no surprise that when we asked for the manager the server pulled him from the worker party on the patio. the manager proceeded to apologize , then tell us they did have corn tortillas. ( great now caesar is a liar too) well to late meals done and paid for and all we get is a sorry . thanks los cucos. if it wasn't for a great location i don't think thisrestaurantcould survive treating it's guest this way.

poor customer service. i've been to thisrestauranttwice to dine in. therestaurantis nice, the staff is friendly, the food was good. the problem i had was with a take-out order. i ordered one thing and got home (30 miles distant) to find that it was not what i ordered and in fact was something i could not eat. i had spent $23.00 on this meal just to feed it to my dog. (i also wondered why it was this expensive but was not given a receipt to check it!) i was very disappointed. i understand that mistakes happen, but the management merely paid lip service to 'making it right.' she offered to send a certificate for a complimentary dinner (not really complimentary since i already paid for it technically) i never heard from her, she never requested my contact information. i asked her if she would like my e-mail address to send the certificate to which she said, "yes maybe that would be easier." naturally she never sent it. i would rather they give an insincere apology and leave it at that, than to say they want to make it right and then do nothing.

best mexicanrestaurantin utah. we love this place. been here several times and have never had a bad meal. been to many other mexican restaurants in utah as well, and this is our favorite. will continue to go back. the fish tacos are to die for, and the stuffed avocado is awesome.

keep driving.... the chips and fiery salsa were the best part, so do the math. my meal had shredded cheese, while my wife's had what looked and tasted like melted velveeta...wth? a great corner location doesn't mean great food...

great food , great service. apparently the lady who asked "is all they have is mexican food" does not understand, it is a tex mexrestaurant!!!! i i guess that she just is not too bright. i have been there 5 times now and have been very happy with everything. oh, by the way, they have a 5 page menu and no they do no have red lobster or olive garden.

great! great! great. this mexican eatery is classic, friendly and has great food. if there was a rating system , i would give it a 5*. the noise from the kitchen is often distracting but overall i give thisrestauranthigh marks. welcome to utah, los cucos.

love this restaurant. i'm from texas so i was excited to hear therestaurantwas coming to utah. they're chips and queso are delicious and have real great choices for platters. service was amazing! it was closed and my frieda and i were still there and they offered to make us fresh rice or beans or tortillas of we were still hungry. i highly recommend trying this restaurant.

pretty good!. my husband and i did not have the highest expectations for this new mexicanrestaurantin sandy, but were pleasantly surprised! our food was pretty good, and the service was top notch! our server was so nice and accommodating, and the assistant server kept our chips and salsa full! only complaint... it is a newerrestaurantso i think there are some kinks still being ironed out. i ordered a virgin pina colada, and ended up paying $8.50 for the drink! i brought it to the server's attention, and asked if an alcohol free 16 oz. smoothie should cost that much! she was so sweet and went to inquire about the price, but came back saying that she was told that was the correct price. i paid for the drink, not wanting to "push the issue" but am a little disappointed. the drink cost as much as my entree! other than that, everything was great.
