wow - pleasantly surprised. we chose this place on a whim, because we were stuck in sandy and starving. it was late for dinner after 9:00, but when we walked in, we didn't get that dreaded late night scowl; instead we were greeted with smiles, open seats and delicious cocktails soon thereafter. they provide a delicious, roasted salsa and a very light and tasty, cilantro, tomatillo guacamole with chips for every table. the menu is very extensive and loaded with unique and delicous entrees. they have stuffed, deep fried avocados! (didn't try them, but they sound good!) they have chile rellenos stuffed with meat and cheese (another unique offering for most mexican restaurants in the area), but i didn't try them either. we ordered chalupas, with ranchero chicken. these are generously topped with purple cabbage, avocado, cotija, tomatoes and crema fresca served with this fresh, garlicky salsa on the side. we also ordered a mixed platter, el sabroso with four cheese (uber decadant) enchilada, a steak burrito, carnitas, and homemade corn tortillas. all the meat was perfectly seasoned, cooked to tender perfection and pretty amazing overall. the homemade corn tortillas were fantastic, even the beans and rice were very well done. this is a great addition to the mexican restaurant scene in the salt lake valley. i will go there again. there is something on the menu for any diner.

good food, great atmosphere!. in short... the indoor and outdoor environments are fantastic. the food was great. tasty fresh chips and salsa. excellent desserts!

is it just me or are most mexican restaurants pretty dumpy? los cucos is a breath of fresh air in this regard. clean, tidy, nice decor, and very nice tvs with the nba playoffs on in the background. the service was great. my waitress never let my dr. pepper go empty the entire time i was there. i likely had 7 or 8 refills and she was always handy with another. the food was very fresh and tasty. i have never had a fried avacado before and it was wonderful. the desserts were exceptionally good. thanks los cucos, will return!

i've been here a couple times and the food and service have been great. the portions are huge, so they justify the price. they also have drink specials on certain days, i think monday and tuesday is $2 margarita day!

mucho noisey. the noise level was horrendous. if decibels were measured on a scale of 1 to 10, los cucos would be an 8. seriously...bring ear plugs, not kidding. we had to yell to hear each other. when waiters belted out "happy birthday" at nearby table we had our hands over our ears. very bad acoustics. regarding the food....never got what we ordered. kept sending it back to get wrong order again and again. then waiter argues with us over his mistake, then never comes back....which is what i will do also.

my wife and i had lunch at los cucos today ad were both very happy.
we were seated in the bar area that has a great atmosphere with the mexican party music playing loud, i felt like i was at mango mango or señor frogs having margaritas and chips with salsa...... until they sat 2 tables with children in the bar area, so that kind of ruined it for us. it would be nice if they would try not to seat children in the bar.
the food was exelent, the service was fantastic and the value is good.
i like the beef gravy sauce on the enchiladas.
i would recommend and we will be back.

los cucos is awesome!!. los cocus is a houston, texas based restaurant. it is a very popular chain in several of the large texas cities. i am from houston and have been to los cucos many times. when our family goes to visit houston, los cucos is always our first stop. the type of mexican food you are eating is called tex-mex. utah doesn't have very many good mexican restaurants so this one is going to be very popular. my waited yesterday told me that the plan is to open four more in the next year. the stuffed avocado is very good and what i get every time i go. the fajitas are also very good. spread the word to your friends about this wonderful houston based restaurant.

what a great restaurant! we had the best server and very attentive service. they have a great cocktail menu and some very unique items on the menu. this is not your typical utah mexican food. i will definitely be back.

horrible. i have never ever left a restaurant after ordering. last night i did. service was horrible but the food was worse. we ordered queso dip. when it came it was the neon orange "cheese" that comes in a can. my daughters quesadilla had the same neon cheese. my chimichanga came out dry. nothing on top. when i said something to the manager about the cheese he guaranteed me it wasn't from a can and thinking about it, he may be right. it may have come from a bag. save your money. quick trip or the local gas station carries the same food. cheaper and quicker i'm sure. we didn't eat any of the food after tasting the disgusting nacho cheese.

los cucos makes me happy, it is a houston, tx based restaurant, and is authentic tex mex. i crave the green salsa they bring with the chips. so happy when they opened up here, utah sucks at mexican food. overall the service is good, though i don't recommend sitting at the bar [only time i had bad service]. it is noisy, but not overly. my husband and i love coming to eat here. we come atleast once a month.

if you want good mexican food and horrible service ask for caesar to wait on you. we went in tonight with a party of 4 and left very disappointed. caesar was more concerned with his co - worker party on the patio then taking care of his last table. if it wasnt for another server cohearsing him to help us and backing him up while he was out on the patio eating and drinking with his off duty worker buddy's, we might not have got served at all . besides, just taking forever with every aspect of our meal and forgetting orders, he told us they were out of corn tortillas . (after the food arrived) my wife was furious because she can't eat gluten . no surprise that when we asked for the manager the server pulled him from the worker party on the patio. the manager proceeded to apologize , then tell us they did have corn tortillas. ( great now caesar is a liar too) well to late meals done and paid for and all we get is a sorry . thanks los cucos. if it wasn't for a great location i don't think this restaurant could survive treating it's guest this way.
