had lunch on sunday. came from melbourne.servicewas first class. staff were very happy and attentive. great ambience. food was very very good. wine and beer selection was also good. overall 'the lord of the isles' is certainly recommended.

dinner at lord of the isles.serviceis great quick and attentive, large wine list and impressive ! menu is fine but could have a bigger selection, value for money is good also. i had the pork cutlet which was cooked really well ....... catch you next time the bitch !!!

in terms of pub food, this has to be geelong's best. more of an upper class bistro, the lord of the isles delivers fantasticserviceand tasty food consistently. i love their seafood linguine and the hubby goes for the classics. all meals are timely served and well seasoned. if you're looking for a hearty meal with a warm, dimmed ambience then this is the place to go.

mutton dressed as lamb. my family and i (quite a large booking) ate here this easter. first of all i would like to say the venue looks very nice, and our food arrived fairly quickly. however there is a big problem with lord of the isles, mainly being its price and quality of food.

lord of the isles seems to be harbouring under the delusion that it is an upscale restaurant, believing it's food to be 'fine dining' when in fact it is counter meals at best. there is a certain expectation when one is paying upwards of 30 dollars for a main meal and that is one of quality and service. neither of which are present here. the food is sloppily presented in the style we've all become accustomed to of pubs but i haven't paid 22 dollars for my chicken parmigiana i've shelled out 28 (plus 15% mark up for public holiday). the chef seems to have an adverse reaction to seasoning his food as the ingredients of salt and pepper are strangely absent from almost all items.serviceis also lacking, despite having plenty of staff on we were never checked on during our meal and offered another drink, asked how our meal was etc.

all in all there is nothing wrong with a good pub meal, but it must be that; good. with so many pubs around geelong doing the same things better and cheaper why bother going here?

monalisa. made a booking for 4, arrived, no booking in the book. been here before 3 times, sunday wasn't the best dining experience, luke warm duck spring rolls, no duck in sight. asian style pork belly, dry and no sign of cracking, just some puffed up pork cracker, pretty average for the price. after 30 minutes waiting for dessert, then told they didn't have all the ingredients, maybe take it off the menu? our young waitress was lovely but the older blonde making the coffee, gee she needs to learn some customerserviceskills, coffees were served with one sugar, when approached for some more sugar she just grunted and pointed to the sugar on the counter! we won't be back!!

fantastic service. theservicehere is amazing. i went to dinner there and had to be out by 8pm. theservicewas so prompt we were done by 7:45pm with full and happy tummy's!!! quite a classy environment but still has a relaxed feeling about it all. i thought the food was quite good, i got the thai beef salad and enjoyed it!

everything. lobster sliders salt & pepper calamari with roast tomato rocket & mango! yummmm!

lunch. spent two lunches here on 3 day trip to torquay. food fantastic!serviceexcellent! a real winner!!!

went there for dinner last month and really enjoyed my meal (i had the sesame tuna). went there last weekend and my meal was horrible and took ages to come out. the other people on my table were also equally disappointed with their meals.servicewas very slow and found a couple of the waitstaff to be very unknowledgable. will not be going back.

beautiful ambiance and lovely waitresses. garlic bread was beautiful and very promptservicethroughout the night. scotch fillet was absolutely amazing very tender, and mash was extremely creamy to match the peppercorn sauce. king george fish and chips were very plain, batter very oily (didnt eat it) and salad plain as well. no better than a fish and chip shop but paid $33. overall would go back for the steak (however pricey at $34). would have been nice to see more variety on the menu there wasn't one salad which was disappointing and only one pasta. 6/10 overall

mutton dressed as lamb. the website and menu make the food sound a lot better than it actually is. we ordered tapas thinking it would be good to try a few things but overall very ordinary. this is definitely a bistro not a restaurant and the food was definitely not freshly prepared. chips were those soft powdery frozen type, calamari overcooked in something that tasted like spare rib batter, arancini tasted like it had been in the fridge/freezer for a very long time before cooking, i couldn't finish my thai fish cake it was that ordinary, and the peking duck spring rolls did not have any taste that resembled peking duck whatsoever. disappopointing and expensive. the beer was cold and the tableservicerelatively friendly but you had to go to the bar to order a glass of wine.

poor lunch review. hi - three adults and 1 child attended the lord of the isles hotel yesterday for lunch. the prices of each lunch were well above what is generally expected in geelong, especially given the quality of the products. the ceasar salad was 'messy' inpresentation - the bacon pieces like charcoal and inedible. the second lunch - whiting - consisted of two tiny filletsw (i would question whether the fish was 'size'). poorly presented salad and the chips were cold. the other lunch was definitely two entree sizes - entrees for a child. again the salad was poorly presented and the bacon like charcoal in the mini ceasar salad. the childs calamari ws (heavens above), just that awful processed white fish (if it could be called fish). as long term patrons of the lord of the isles out lunch reinforced the decision we made some months ago that it is a) too expensive for what is provided. i need to note that theservicewas okay - that's because of the limited number of patrons. as an aside, as a lunch venue the interior is incredibly dark. okay for an evening meal, but more is expected at lunch. we were extremely disappointed and won't be attending again.

disappointing. i have been to lord of the isles a few times now and i will never go back again! theserviceis not as good as it used to be and i found out tonight that they have a employed a new chef hence why i will not be returning. our food was terrible, there was a basket of chips that we disgusting (how hard is it to get chips right?) the beef, lamb and duck did not taste good at all. when paying i wasn't even asked how our food was. we both left very disappointed with the food and service. i will not be recommending this place to anyone again.

terrible food and slow service. chef said he wasn't happy with our steaks so cooked then again, waited 1hr 20 for burnt overcooked steaks and potatoes that were like rocks. slowserviceand no one came to ask if we wanted dessert so gave up and left. friends went and said same thing. yuck!

not for me. you've got to be kidding. squished into a dark corner near the toilets, slowserviceat the bar, $33.50 for fish and chips, $25 for a parmi? no thanks - plenty of better places to go in geelong.
