very clean and tidypubwith great spaces and outdoor entertaining areas. entrees were okay, cheese and garlic focaccia were undercooked but the chips were delightful with great dipping sauces.

the seafood linguine was a great portion size and could taste the freshness of the seafood amongst the chilli and tomato sauce. couple of my friends has the steak which looked amazing with roasted potatoes that were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

service was slow to begin with but mains came out within a reasonable time.

would come back again ! very impressed.

in terms ofpubfood, this has to be geelong's best. more of an upper class bistro, the lord of the isles delivers fantastic service and tasty food consistently. i love their seafood linguine and the hubby goes for the classics. all meals are timely served and well seasoned. if you're looking for a hearty meal with a warm, dimmed ambience then this is the place to go.

overpriced basicpubfood in a more formal setting. older crowd, and not really somewhere to come for drinks. plenty of betterpuboptions in the area.

mutton dressed as lamb. my family and i (quite a large booking) ate here this easter. first of all i would like to say the venue looks very nice, and our food arrived fairly quickly. however there is a big problem with lord of the isles, mainly being its price and quality of food.

lord of the isles seems to be harbouring under the delusion that it is an upscale restaurant, believing it's food to be 'fine dining' when in fact it is counter meals at best. there is a certain expectation when one is paying upwards of 30 dollars for a main meal and that is one of quality and service. neither of which are present here. the food is sloppily presented in the style we've all become accustomed to of pubs but i haven't paid 22 dollars for my chicken parmigiana i've shelled out 28 (plus 15% mark up for public holiday). the chef seems to have an adverse reaction to seasoning his food as the ingredients of salt and pepper are strangely absent from almost all items. service is also lacking, despite having plenty of staff on we were never checked on during our meal and offered another drink, asked how our meal was etc.

all in all there is nothing wrong with a goodpubmeal, but it must be that; good. with so many pubs around geelong doing the same things better and cheaper why bother going here?

we enjoyed a beautiful meal here last night. the lamb ribs fell off the bone, and the quinoa salad was a perfect combination. best looking parmie i've seen for a long time & a great looking burger. it's certainly not cheap however !! i always think of the lord of the isles as apubhowever it looks better than that & has a price tag to match !! really good food :)

over pricedpubfood. went topubwith a group of friends sat night, had rump steak ordered rare came out over cooked and as for the salad for a place that is supposed to have a good reputation it was absolute garbage (iceberg lettuce and a couple of cherry tomatoes slopped on the plate). also roast of the day @ $30, and stubbies of light beer $6, you have to be kidding. what a rip off !!!

apubsurprise.. we eat here often.recently the menu has gone a little backwards in choice and variety.however what is presently available is well presented and cooked.this place is a little above what you would typically expect from a pub.

average. the menu is ok but is a little overpriced. its another boganpubwith pokies that has had a renovation and is trying to be something it is not.

boringpubfood. noisy place. the meals here took over 30 minutes to come out and when they did arrive they were lukewarm. we had the chicken schnitzels and they were completely dry not to mention overpriced for what they were. won't be back.

overpriced and bland. thispubcharges restaurant prices for what is very bland food. i ordered crumbed lamb cutlets with mashed potato and peas served with onion gravy. there was far too much mash potato and it was dry and lacking salt. the cutlets were cooked through - would have preferred medium rare - and full of gristle. the flavour of the meat was also overwhelmed by thick oily crumbs. the dish was $27 or $29 (can't remember exactly). for that much i could get a napier hotel parma and a pot in melbourne. very disappointed.

bestpubin geelong. what a great pub! great place for a quiet beer and the best place to be after a geelong home game. friendly staff, variety of drinks and great food. no wonder it has been voted aha bestpubbefore
