i found this "off the beaten path" place while in charleston for work. this is definitely a locals type of place with plenty of regulars (everyone seemed to know each other, and the waitstaffgreeted a surprising number of customers by name). i loved the food. i started with the crab cake "stack" app. amazing. came with two really good crab cakes with tons of crab meat, that was light and fresh. fried green tomatoes, fried onions, and pimento cheese made up the rest of the stack. seemed like an odd combo with crab cakes, but it was tasty. i got the fresh catch for the entree, which was tuna. i got the macadamia nut something or another crust, which came with a side of caramelized mango. i got asparagus for the side. everything was so fresh, and perfectly cooked. the waitress was extremely friendly and offered great service. the only thing that prevents me from giving this place a 5 rating was the atmosphere. the place really doesn't have a decor that you can define. it almost seems like a cheesy greek mural painted restaurant meets an old diner with an open kitchen meets i don't know what... there was no music playing that would really help to define it either. it was just kind of odd. however, the friendliness and attentiveness of thestaffand the great food made up for the lack of atmosphere. long story short - it's not somewhere you go for a romantic date. it's where you go for good food, away from the tourists. i will be back next time i'm in town.

long point grill had delicious food and a wide variety of wine choices. the lpg mac n cheese was great as well as the buttermilk fried chicken dinner. the manager was very nice and recommended different places to visit in charleston. what i didn't like about the restaurant was that it was small and crowded and had an "open" kitchen (which means that there was only a bar and windows shielding the busystafffrom the rest of the guests) which i thought was a bit unprofessional. overall, i would give long point grill an 8 out of 10.

great service...but.... finally got around to visitng the place people raved about, and were pretty disappointed. wine list was thin, and the reds were served quite warm and a bit off (and at $9 a glass, should be better). fried calmari appetizer was very nicly cooked, but the breading was heavy and bland. the special that night was a crispy flounder...much to my dismay with the same bland breading as the calamari. a burger ordered well-done arrived medium rare, and when sent back was obvioulsy microwaved to re-warm. thestaffreally tried, the service was prompt, atentative, and unfortunately apologetic; the kitchen let them down. witha ll of the great places to eat in the area, you can do much better for less.

always a great place. this was one of the first places someone took me when i moved down to charleston a few years back, and it remains one of my favorites. nestled away next to a shipping yard, you wouldn't expect much from this grill, but you'd be dead wrong.

the food is always excellent, thestaffis always friendly, the atmosphere is modest.. i can't say enough good things about this place. you get amazing food for a pretty decent price.

the only complaint i might have is that there isn't a whole lot of outdoor seating, and the wine list is a bit sparse, but you wouldn't go here for a huge wine list. you'd go here for the amazing food!
