i found this "off the beaten path" place while in charleston for work. this is definitely a locals type of place with plenty of regulars (everyone seemed to know each other, and the wait staff greeted a surprising number of customers by name). i loved the food. i started with the crab cake "stack" app. amazing. came with two really good crab cakes with tons of crab meat, that was light and fresh. fried green tomatoes, fried onions, and pimento cheese made up the rest of the stack. seemed like an odd combo with crab cakes, but it was tasty. i got the fresh catch for the entree, which was tuna. i got the macadamia nut something or another crust, which came with a side of caramelized mango. i got asparagus for the side. everything was so fresh, and perfectly cooked. the waitress was extremely friendly and offered great service. the only thing that prevents me from giving this place a 5 rating was the atmosphere. the place really doesn't have a decor that you can define. it almost seems like a cheesy greek mural painted restaurant meets an old diner with an open kitchen meets i don't know what... there was no music playing that would really help to define it either. it was just kind of odd. however, the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff and the great food made up for the lack of atmosphere. long story short - it's not somewhere you go for a romantic date. it's where you go for good food, away from the tourists. i will bebacknext time i'm in town.

wouldnt recommend to my worst enemy!. recently my brother and his girlfriend wanted to go to charleston with me and my girlfriend for a visit. they are flight nurses in the us air force who fly in and out of war zones everyday rescuing wounded soldiers and just wanted to go to charleston for a good meal while they were home on leave. long point grill came highly recommended from some family and friends so we figured we'd give it a shot. first we ordered the mussels as appetizers, which were really good. my brother ordered the wahoo, i ordered the new york strip, and my brothers girlfriend ordered the fillet. when my food came out my steak was cold as were my sides of broccoli and collard greens. my brothers fish was so dry and overcooked that he had to cut it with a knife! my brothers girlfriends fillet was also cold. im not one of these people who likes to cause a hassle or send food back, but when you are paying that kind of money for food, you expect it to be at least cooked right or at least warm! we had to flag the waitress down, as she never once came and asked us how our meal was or refilled any of our drinks.she took our foodbackto the manager and chefs who then all began to glare over at us like we did something wrong. the manager, who seemed to be more concerned with checking out every woman in the restaurant, came over to the table with a smug look on his face. very uncaring he looks at my brother and says,"look man, whata ya want me to do? i mean if you want another fish i'll cook you the salmon instead and charge you the same price(saving a whole dollar) as the wahoo." my brother agreed and said he would just take the salmon. meanwhile they took my plate and threw it in the microwave to reheat it, so my steak camebackas well done instead of the medium rare i had ordered. it was so bland that i had to cover it in hot sauce so that i could even eat it. when my brothers salmon finally came out, everyone else was already finished eating and he had lost his appetite. we were just aggravated and ready to leave at this point. we kinda figured with it being a nicer restaurant that the manager would at least knock a little off of my brothers ticket, especially since we had had such a bad dining experience. when my brother tried to mention this to the manager and voice his feelings on the matter, the manager stood there with a smirk on his face and told us that 95% of his customers were repeat customers and that he didnt feel we deserved a discount on the meal! basically he was telling us that he had so many repeat customers that he didnt care whether or not we were happy with ours. what a great way to treat our military. i can understand a restaurant having a bad night as far as the food goes, but we were treated with absolutely no respect and that is just not tolerable.

great service...but.... finally got around to visitng the place people raved about, and were pretty disappointed. wine list was thin, and the reds were served quite warm and a bit off (and at $9 a glass, should be better). fried calmari appetizer was very nicly cooked, but the breading was heavy and bland. the special that night was a crispy flounder...much to my dismay with the same bland breading as the calamari. a burger ordered well-done arrived medium rare, and when sentbackwas obvioulsy microwaved to re-warm. the staff really tried, the service was prompt, atentative, and unfortunately apologetic; the kitchen let them down. witha ll of the great places to eat in the area, you can do much better for less.
