i found this "off the beaten path" place while in charleston for work. this is definitely a locals type of place with plenty of regulars (everyone seemed to know each other, and the wait staff greeted a surprising number of customers by name). i loved the food. i started with the crab cake "stack" app. amazing. came with two really good crab cakes with tons of crab meat, that was light and fresh. fried green tomatoes, fried onions, and pimento cheese made up the rest of the stack. seemed like an odd combo with crab cakes, but it was tasty. i got the fresh catch for the entree, which was tuna. i got the macadamia nut something or another crust, which came with a side of caramelized mango. i got asparagus for the side. everything was so fresh, and perfectly cooked. the waitress was extremely friendly and offered great service. the only thing that prevents me from giving this place a 5 rating was the atmosphere. the place really doesn't have a decor that you can define. it almost seems like a cheesy greek mural painted restaurant meets an old diner with an open kitchen meets i don't know what... there was no music playing that would really help to define it either. it was just kind of odd. however, the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff and the great food made up for the lack of atmosphere. long story short - it's not somewhere you go for a romantic date. it's where you go for good food, away from the tourists. i will be back next time i'm in town.

great food!. my husband and i both had the fried chicken for lunch, and everything was very good. it's in an odd location, but easy in and out. the restaurant got very loud and crowded within a matter of minutes, and this being mid-week at lunch! service was somewhat slow, but again, they were completely full. great iced tea, also.

a wonderful lunch spot tucked away in mt. pleasant. you'd expect less from a place in the industrial/port area but this is a tastefully decorated lunch spot (the serve dinner as well) that has a delicious menu. i got the sauteed shrimp in a pesto risotto with arugula and sun dried tomato and is one of my new favorites - really so, so tasty. my husband was equally happy with his crab cake/bacon burger. and the fries are definitely worth ordering!

long point grill had delicious food and a wide variety of wine choices. the lpg mac n cheese was great as well as the buttermilk fried chicken dinner. the manager was very nice and recommended different places to visit in charleston. what i didn't like about the restaurant was that it was small and crowded and had an "open" kitchen (which means that there was only a bar and windows shielding the busy staff from the rest of the guests) which i thought was a bit unprofessional. overall, i would give long point grill an 8 out of 10.

acoustics are awful! very hard to enjoy a dinner when you have to yell to one another. service was ok. use to visit often however this visit not at all impressed with my dinner.

gingerloo. consistently great food and service! love it but i wish it was easier to carry on a conversation in there. they need to add fabric or something to absorb the sound...

southern comfort food. hidden on long point rd within the industrial section of the charleston port resides sal parco's flagship restaurant, lpg. in stark contrast to the austere conditions of port life the ambience here is very tranquil with a good neighborhood feel. i frequent lpg more than any other restaurant in charleston and i can tell you that everything on the menu is fantastic including the daily specials, which always showcase savvy creativity. however i disagree strongly with the $ rating; it's more like a healthy $$.

cold months are upon us and it's the season for soup; lpg's soup de jour is always to die for -- attached is a picture of their roasted carrot soup -- i hate carrots, but i love this soup!!

the entrees are all solid and i have sampled the entire menu three times over. one of my favorites is the southwestern ravioli with a scrumtious mixture of shrimp, scallops, and black beans. again, the daily specials are always unique and my most recent trip featured a bone in pork chop with pork tenderloin -- yeah man was it good!!

if there is an occasional weakness it is usually with the steaks (other reviews on here echo similar sentiment and while this criticism has merit remember that lpg is not a steakhouse).
