in a continuing quest to find new restaurants to try, i took a walk farther out from the hotel into the strip district. littlebangkokis a smallish restaurant, sandwiched between other dining establishments on penn avenue. the dining area only has a small number of tables, so it's a good thing the restaurant wasn't too busy this evening. on the plus side, since the staff had only a small number of tables to watch over, service was pretty good. water refills were given without my even having to ask.

the food is pretty good. it's different and possibly more authentic than other thai restaurants i've tried. i had the thai rama chicken this time with a spiciness level of 6. that wasn't actually very spicy until i got to the chilis under the chicken. the price seemed a bit steep for thai food but the portion size was quite generous.

not so great. from many of the reviews on would think that littlebangkokwas thai nirvana. unfortunately i am not of the same opinion. i went there for lunch last week and was disappointed. before i speak about the food i must admit the service was very good and the restaurant looked clean. the decor is not pseudo thai and could pass for any ethnicity. the prices were higher than most of the other thai restaurants i go to but not out of line. last, the portions were quite ample. now to the food. i ordered two dishes - fish patties anda green duck curry the patties were not fresh - they were quite rubbery and i suspect made from a processed "fish" roll. the duck curry was served in a standard soup bowl rather than the deep dish bowl as is usual. the duck was tough and the whole curry was obviously warmed up out of the fridge. lots of vegetables but the whole dish was below average i found it odd that the usual thai condiments were not on the table as is standard in thai restaurants but when i asked for them they were promptly delivered with a smile. i probably will not visit littlebangkokagain.

littlebangkokis perfect if you're looking for good food; clean, ample space; and good service. one of the things i like about littlebangkokis the food arrives already served in a dish, which means you can add as little or as much rice as you like and can get every last drop of sauce. this restaurant is also very roomy without losing the charm of a small, intimate restaurant. the brick walls and high ceilings give it an industrial feel, and the minimalist decor is also very nice. but above all, the restaurant and restroom are extremely clean and well-kept. so if you are interested in getting some thai food in the strip, i would highly recommend little bangkok. one final note: it starts to get busy after 7 pm on saturdays. so if you arrive prior to that, you'll have no problem getting a seat.

new dessert on the menu. i always love exploring same items from several thai restaurants in the neighborhood. i have been to littlebangkoka couple of time. the owner/chef who is thai came out and chat with us which was nice. during my most recent visit, i tried its new dessert called 'banana parcels', which is very common in thailand. this is my first time having this item at the thai restaurant in the united states. i must say that it is so authentic. it tastes very very well. the sweet sticky rice and the banana filling inside of the banana leaves came with sweet coconut milk is so delicious. highly recommend to try!!

really good food. on w him i went to littlebangkokwhile in the strip for lunch. being my first trip to littlebangkoki decided to get an appetizer in addition to my lunch entree, went with the fish cake and crab wonton sampler. the fish cakes were so different to make i liked them a lot. at first i was not sure what to make of them. they were somewhat chewy and salty, but the more i chewed the more the flavor kept developing and i really enjoyed them. the crab wontons were amazing. the wrappers were fried perfect and the crab filling was smooth, rich and delicious.

i decided to go with the pad thai with pork for my entrée. if i go to a new thai place i was start with the pad thai, because if that can not be done well at a thai restaurant, why bother with anything else? i am definitely pleased to report i will definitely be heading back. the pad thai was super flavorful and delicious. i liked how they let me pick a hotness scale for the food before i started. i gave it a 7 and i will be darned but they just about nailed my taste for hotness perfect.

maybe the lunch special i ordered came with the vegetable soup but i did not order any. anyway, either way it was tremendous. the broth was perfect and the veggies and tofu while not bountiful were perfect accompaniments.

all in all i enjoyed my meal very much and will make it even harder to decide on a lunch spot when i am hungry in the strip in the future.

fantastic thai food. i've become such a fan of thai food in recent years that i can almost call myself an expert. and this is among the best thai food i've ever had. after just three trips to littlebangkokin the strip, i can say that i've experienced dishes i've never tried before, and tasted better versions of dishes i routinely order elsewhere.

you have to appreciate their location, not only because it's convenient for diners, but because of their proximity to fresh produce. i also know for a fact that they take no shortcuts in their efforts to make authentic thai food the way penny's mom and aunt taught her to. for example, they use tamarind juice in their pad thai instead of vinegar, the way it's done in thailand (so i'm told).

plus, the service is absolutely top notch. they're fast without rushing you, accurate with the orders and genuinely friendly.

love it!. my husband and i had lunch at littlebangkokover the weekend and - wow - we both agree that this is the best thai food we have had. we've eaten at thai restaurants from west coast to east coast and this restaurant tops them all. the blend of spices, the freshness of the ingredients - we raved about this for the rest of the day.

we had an awesome experience at littlebangkokin the strip! the decor is simple yet cozy. the staff is very friendly and welcoming. everything they serve is freshly prepared. the food itself is tasty and the portions are enormous. definitely great bang for buck! my only complaints would be: a thai restaurant should have siracha sauce on hand. that and brown rice shouldn't be an additional charge. but outside of those two small gripes this place is great and we'll definitely go back!
