as good as any thai i have ever had. i walked by the place a few times when they first opened, but seriously, the other asian places on the strip are so hit and miss, i did not want to be the guinea pig. finally ate there last night, because of the pirates game, and not wanting to have to fight traffic at nicky's.

i am going to be hitting this place as often as i can until i get burned out. wife had the drunken noodles. she asked for spice level 6, which was still really mild, really really really delicious! she had it with beef, which is not a tenderized type of meat you get in most places, but a hard cooked really well seasoned kind of dried out chunks of meat, which is exactly how you get it in the home of a thai. really authentic.

i got he pad kra tiem (garlic) with beef. spice level 6. mine was nice and spicy, absolutely great!!! and, just ask for extra crushed peanuts, and you also ask for the side platter of seasonings.

oh, and got the spring riolls as well. they are vegan, and amazingly good! instead of a couple of big rolls wrapped in rice paper, you get a platter, of smaller rolls, that are sliced up and served around a bowl of peanut sauce.

the one thing i hate about most thai places is, they do not use galangel, or tamarind, and you leave the place saying, "it looked nice, but the taste was missing something..." well, you will not get that "missing something" at this place. if you do not like the food here, it is because you just have a different flavor profile than i do. i spent years in the air force, long enough ago so that most of my supervisors had thai wives, and this food nailed what i used to get when i would go to their homes for dinner.

self proclaimed thai food snob. this place is one of the best in pittsburgh. from the authentic seasoning to beautiful display, everything is wonderful. my friends and i ate the drunken noodles, red curry, pad thai, appetizer sampler and fresh summer roll. portions were perfect. highly recommended!!

awesome restaurant! food was fantastic. the yum salad was off the meat rack for sheezy. only went with the 5 spice factor on the salad and six on the beef, but believe you me, i was sweating my face off! definitely will be going back!

tasty food and great location. chicken satay is great, the peanut sauce is perfect. mostly what you'd expect from this cuisine, but nonetheless tasty

in a continuing quest to find new restaurants to try, i took a walk farther out from the hotel into the strip district. little bangkok is a smallish restaurant, sandwiched between other dining establishments on penn avenue. the dining area only has a small number of tables, so it's a good thing the restaurant wasn't too busy this evening. on the plus side, since the staff had only a small number of tables to watch over, service was pretty good. water refills were given without my even having to ask.

the food is pretty good. it's different and possibly more authentic than other thai restaurants i've tried. i had the thai rama chicken this time with a spiciness level of 6. that wasn't actually very spicy until i got to the chilis under the chicken. the price seemed a bit steep for thai food but the portion size was quite generous.

the pittsburgh strip district is the perfect foodie getaway from morgantown. it's just about an hour and a half north and is filled with a ton of little shops - especially ones filled with delicious food. my friend and foodie extraordinaire joel brown was kind enough to help show me the ropes, and we also recruited ann , eternal optimist and adventurer, to join us.  21st street coffee and tea : joel and ann love the lattes from this place. so, of course, i had to get a latte. it was the first stop, so it was nice to get some caffeine bright and early in the morning. i don't drink a lot of coffee, but this one was pretty good. and look how cute that latte art is? 2002 smallman street pittsburgh pa 15222 412-281-0809 21streetcoffee.com peace, love & little donuts: ann required a mini donut, so we squished into this little place. i got a blueberry donut. i know joel says they're made from mix, but i actually enjoyed it. plus i'm not sure i've ever actually had a blueberry donut? tasty. 2018 smallman street pittsburgh, pa 15222 412-489-7693 www.peaceloveandlittledonuts.com the enrico biscotti company: yum! i ordered a white chocolate biscotti from the case, but i saved it until i got home. and it was delicious! i love a good biscotti, and this one hit the spot. 2022 penn avenue pittsburgh pa 15222 412-281-2602 contact: larry lagattuta www.enricobiscotti.com lotus food : i love asian markets! they're confusing and overwhelming, but there is so much to explore! i wanted to get a few frozen things, but since we still had a ways to go, i didn't want anything to go bad. next time. 1649 penn avenue pittsburgh, pa 15222 412-281-3050 wholey's fish market : samples of soup and cider sold me on this place instantly. there are just rows after rows of fresh seafood - anything you could possibly want. fish and scallops and crab and everything i love. remind me to bring a full cooler next time. 1711 penn avenue pittsburgh pa 15222 412-391-3737 contact: robert wholey www.yahoo.com/who

a top jungle style lunch. dropped in for lunch, saw jungle curry on the menu, and ordered with chicken and a 7 on the heat scale. jungle curry is my favorite thai dish and this didn't disappoint. very tasty and spicy enough to warm me up on a cool fall day. good experience, so i shall return!

not so great. from many of the reviews on would think that little bangkok was thai nirvana. unfortunately i am not of the same opinion. i went there for lunch last week and was disappointed. before i speak about the food i must admit the service was very good and the restaurant looked clean. the decor is not pseudo thai and could pass for any ethnicity. the prices were higher than most of the other thai restaurants i go to but not out of line. last, the portions were quite ample. now to the food. i ordered two dishes - fish patties anda green duck curry the patties were not fresh - they were quite rubbery and i suspect made from a processed "fish" roll. the duck curry was served in a standard soup bowl rather than the deep dish bowl as is usual. the duck was tough and the whole curry was obviously warmed up out of the fridge. lots of vegetables but the whole dish was below average i found it odd that the usual thai condiments were not on the table as is standard in thai restaurants but when i asked for them they were promptly delivered with a smile. i probably will not visit little bangkok again.

little bangkok is perfect if you're looking for good food; clean, ample space; and good service. one of the things i like about little bangkok is the food arrives already served in a dish, which means you can add as little or as much rice as you like and can get every last drop of sauce. this restaurant is also very roomy without losing the charm of a small, intimate restaurant. the brick walls and high ceilings give it an industrial feel, and the minimalist decor is also very nice. but above all, the restaurant and restroom are extremely clean and well-kept. so if you are interested in getting some thai food in the strip, i would highly recommend little bangkok. one final note: it starts to get busy after 7 pm on saturdays. so if you arrive prior to that, you'll have no problem getting a seat.

new dessert on the menu. i always love exploring same items from several thai restaurants in the neighborhood. i have been to little bangkok a couple of time. the owner/chef who is thai came out and chat with us which was nice. during my most recent visit, i tried its new dessert called 'banana parcels', which is very common in thailand. this is my first time having this item at the thai restaurant in the united states. i must say that it is so authentic. it tastes very very well. the sweet sticky rice and the banana filling inside of the banana leaves came with sweet coconut milk is so delicious. highly recommend to try!!
