as with tray kitchen, some good bites to be found here. but some not-so-good, largely due to interpretation of the dishes. (see photos and explanations below.) fortunately, zhu dang is up front about this, with a mission that emphasizes flavor over tradition. but, as a result, i don’t see chinese immigrants, chinese college-aged students, or those seeking “pure” chinese flavors coming to eat here. the gorgeous space andfoodmenu accompanied by high-end tea and cocktails (all at higher-end prices) will primarily draw the typical capitol hill crowd.
