liberty union bar and grill

wonderful dining experience. the meal and salad was excellent. our service was friendly, prompt and attentive. the bar atmosphere is beautiful and inviting. the beer selection is by far the best in the area. a great place to take family and friends or watch a ball game on the many tv's. the two outdoor patios were my favorite design feature as the interior design is unique and inviting. a great place that can accommodate large groups as well. we took my son's hockey team for lunch after a game and the inviting staff got us seated and situated right away. great place to go again and again as the menu offers great must try options.

good place for a drink...but that's about it.. it is too bad, we were really hoping to have a family friendly place in chester springs that had great food---this place is a big disappointment. the food is way overpriced for what you get, the food is either undercooked or overcooked, we have yet to have a meal that was prepared just right. the food takes a while to come to the table, on a few visits the food came out at room temp or worse. my kids even refused to eat the chicken fingers - they were dry and practically burnt. the mac and cheese is flavorless. we have been to this place several times, each time hoping that it would be better, but no such luck. the only thing that i would return to this place for is a drink at the bar, otherwise i will not be returning.

pizza is all about the crust; when a pizzamaker gets the crust right, success generally follows. i'm usually leery of any pie that is defined by its toppings. toppings are often just a way to disguise a mediocre mass-sourced crust. click on any image to enlarge. however, we recently made an exception. we sought out a local pie based on the toppings after learning about the baked colorado flatbread pizza at liberty union bar & grill. this personal-size white pie is made with elk sausage, hemp seed, caramelized onion, sautéed mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese.

give me liberty or give me.... i've been to liberty union several times. i want to like lu, many positive features; including, great bar staff, great beer, good entertainment, always open. but, many negatives; food is not so good, table service is spotty and it is very loud.
conceptually lu is a great "idea", truly regional american food, however, the kitchen is not capable of carrying off the concept or even the basics! there is a running joke that if you endeavor to order a burger r or mr the wait staff wishes you "good luck"?
they are constantly "tweaking" the concept and i hope they eventually dial it in!
until then enjoy a great cocktail or beer and eat somewhere else....

horrible.

ehh...it's okay. i've eaten there twice and haven't been impressed either time. the latest time we arrived about 9pm for dinner...my husband had to go find someone to seat us. the service was slow even though no one was dining and the staff wasn't very friendly or attentive. the food is just average, nothing i couldn't make at home that wouldn't taste just as good or better. there are plenty of other restaurants in the area that are much better. i doubt i'll be back again.

better than expected. we had a wonderful graduation day luncheon with family & friends on friday. food was absolutely outstanding and the service phenomenal! haven't had this great of an experience in a very long time!

horrible service. twice now we have eaten here and both times we had bad, bad service. the food is good, but we hated seeing others get seated after us, get their food and leave before we had any food on our table. pathetic. their management needs to wake up and do a better job of making sure their customers get treated fairly and satisfactorily. we will never be returning and i suggest you not go either.

yuck - ordered vegetarian pot pie - ummm - isn't chicken stock a meat product?
mac and cheese wiz it should say.
my huge teenager didn't even want to bring it home and he is a disposal .

great veggie burger so i can have an amazing cream puff for dessert!. i am not one for veggie burgers but a friend told me to try it and i was so happy i did ! boy it tasted good ! i would say it was as good as a beef burger!! very very tasty! the warm caramel cream puff for dessert was amazing! the new menu items are much healthier and the new chef is doing a great job! we love to frequent locally owned places. this is a keeper.

great bar, beer, burgers. my husband and i have visited liberty union almost weekly. we love having a local place to go and the menu has a variety of options. the state of the week specials have been great. my usual order is a burger- always delicious! the salads are a great choice too if i want to go healthy and they are huge! the texas caviar is our favorite appetizer. we have noticed bigger portions from when they first opened and service is better now that they have been open for a few months. it's nice to give the local guys business , we will be going back often!

stopped by with my wife for a quick bite and to our surprise, they were featuring a brand new menu! it's all new and very nice. not too big but features a great selection. i had the fish tacos. fantastic! service was attentive and on point.

went with my wife last friday for appetizers and drinks at the bar. had good munchies and drinks. carl, becky and jj at the bar were great. lots of fun and very attentive. this was our second time there and won't be our last. this is our new spot.

been there 4 times and service is always sloooow. for a menu, liberty union tries to take the best from each region of the usa...their selections are simple, which would be fine if a straightforward recipe was used, instead the cook (definitely not a chef) tries to put a fancy spin on every item...the execution is awful. simple recipes can be a good idea, but when you cannot consistently cook chicken fingers...lol...then perhaps the food business is not for you.
finally, a better beer selection can be found at the pizzeria unos just down the street....not a plug for them, just a sad sad observation.

i would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

p.s. the prices are ridiculous for the food they are offering i.e. mac-n-cheese for $14 and sub-par crabcakes for $25

amazing.. this place is awesome. first of all, they spared no expense in remodeling an old blockbuster video rental building into one of the classier restaurants i've been in. old americana like gumball machines and rodeo signs, on top of tasteful colors; real-wood beadboard on the walls; swanky bathrooms and metal, nautical-style lamps everywhere - just classy. and their bar area? awesome! big, long bar and open space behind it. an impressive list of craft brews and a featured state of the week with a $3.50 beer selection makes this a place to come back to every week.
when it comes to the food, there's not a more creative approach. each item is themed by a regional classic in the u.s., and the chef does them right, from a chicago hot beef to maine lobster bisque. the food was amazing. the liberty burger is my favorite, with a fresh fried egg on top. their menu even notes that "of course, the egg is over-easy" - unlike other burger joints that offer the egg topper, but miss the point and fry it hard. this oozes out over your burger and if there's enough yolk left, you can mop it up with hearty steak fries or old-school tater tots (but even better than your school cafeteria made them). thank you, liberty, for doing it right!

great restaurant. appetizers: never had a fried pickle before...boy are they good. grilled hawaiian shrimp skewers: the shrimp are tender and served with a delicious sauce. the soft pretzels came with a very good side of mustard...never before had this kind of mustard.

burger: i have ordered burgers in most restaurants i go to on a regular basis. i got the heartland burger. it was cooked exactly as ordered. one of the best burgers i have ever eaten. a huge sandwich.

someone else got the crab cakes. loved them. full of crab, not filler.

good cheese cake. husband loved the banana peanut butter cake.

prices reasonable for the quality of the food.

very good waitress.

generous bar area for watching sports. the kitchen and bathrooms are placed in the center of the building. this is an excellent idea. it leaves two more quiet areas for dining and talking, which is the experience we wanted this evening.
