leopold's ice cream

it was ok. i wouldn't say it was the best ice cream ever. it was creamy. theyflavorswere good and tasted fresh but it was a too sweet and too thick.

fantastic! wonderful ! ! f u n ! ! !. great food, very good icecream with an unbelievable selection. unusualflavorstoo. the purchasing experience is strange because the lines are so long you are forced to order your lunch and dessert in line and wait at a table. a table that may not be available yet. this awkward system is a result of it's own unbelievable success. i guess with great food and atmosphere with great history comes a great desire to experience by lots of people. be patient, wait in line, follow instructions and enjoy! it's worth the wait.

in 2011 the toronto sun rated it as 5th best ice cream parlor in world. it's owned by stratton leopold, a movie producer, and the walls are lined with movie posters that he produced along with cases of movie props (such as from mission impossible). still serve in glass cups like old times! its a true parlor atmoaphere. ice cream is creamy good. i finally ordered the tutti frutti, their original flavor that got it all started in 1919. its rum ice cream with candied fruit and fresh roasted georgia pecans. it didn't sound like a "wow" flavor but it instantly became my favorite. allflavorsare good and very creamy. you can tell it's a high cream content based on how quickly it melts. they have seasonalflavorsand the girl scout thin mints flavor is one of my favorites too (march flavor). they frequently have long lines running out the door but don't be scared away. it doesn't take long to scoop ice cream so lone moves quick and we always find seating inside. it's a true gem in savannah.

we have visited savannah every year since my brother started at scad and going to leopold's has become a tradition. absolutely love their ice cream! i have been impressed withflavorslike honey almond, pistachio, caramel swirl, coconut, and the infamous tutti fruitti. lines are generally long and the prices are on the high side but i do believe these ice cream cones are worth it. looking forward to coming back to an almost century old establishment!!

wonderful ice cream. variousflavorswith or without a "little something extra". stood in line for around 20 minutes but well worth the wait. will make a make a point to visit every time in savannah.

great flavors. some good unique ice cream flavors. tried a few and we settled on peanut butter chip (best peanut butter ice cream i've had) and tutti fruitti (an original flavor from 1919...it's still rum based). while texture is good but normal for this type of local ice cream shop, theflavorsare very well done and some are quite unique.

theflavorsand richness of their ice cream was like nothing i have ever experienced before and you could really tell they use top-notch ingredients.

wonderful ice cream parlor. if you ever wondered what one of the old style ice cream parlors that your parents or grandparents went to looked like this is it! only there is also some cool movie memorabilia (we sat next to an old panavision camera) and proably way moreflavorsthan they would have gotten to experience. the ice cream is delicious too and the atmosphere can't be beat!
