thisrestaurantis one of my favourites in montreal for so many reasons. they have a great patio, a superb late-night prix fixe (after 10pm) menu that is definitely worth your money, and the food tastes delicious as well. my husband and i came much earlier than our opentable reservation (arrived at 10pm because we had time left over when our reservation was at 10:45pm) and we asked if there was any space for us even though we were too early. the host seated us at 10pm much to our surprise and we ended up having a great night with excellent service and food. we will definitely be back especially for their late night prix fixe and their french toast dessert! it's the best!!

for our first dinner in montreal, we went to leméac, a french bistro.  the place was gorgeous with four sections: the bar that was very busy with not only people drinking but also diners, the main dining room, the patio with its large windows and the garden.  we decided to walk to therestaurantfrom the hotel and it probably took us close to an hour, discovering leisurely part of the old montreal. so no wonder we arrived hungry! for sure the bread and butter were welcome! for appetizer, i ordered the escargots (snails): they were served with some pasta, with portobello mushrooms, a tomato coulis and a basil butter sauce. this was fantastic with plenty of different flavors coming from the different main ingredients. even without the snails, i would have had appreciated that dish as an appetizers. the basil butter sauce was fantastic: smooth and tasty, it brought the dish to an entire level! for the entrees, jodi ordered the hanger steak with french fries and "maitre d'hotel" butter (ca

very few brunch places serve seafood on their menu apart from serving smoked salmon. here the salmon are either house smoked or cured in salt, sugar and other aromats. the first has a spectacular presentation - two perfectly poached eggs wrapped with a thick slice of smoked salmon, served on two blinis and drizzled with a caviar hollandaise sauce. light and filling, definitely worth ordering!  the second seems to be underappreciated as none of my neighbouring tables ordered the norwegian seafood plate. this dish brings back good memories of my time in copenhagen when i had smørrebrød in a boatrestaurantwith a marvellous view of the canal. as you can see below, you have a wide selection of toppings for open-faced sandwiches with 3 slices of buttered caraway b

we loved this outstanding frenchrestaurantin the lumiere region serving wonderful courses like these: mushroom ravioli with demi-glace, arugula and pine nuts; braised beef shortribs with barley stew, swiss chard and mint pesto; and grilled cornish hen with black olive and polenta fries. one of their most famous dishes (and deservedly so – don’t miss this) is their french toast with dulce de leche ice cream and maple caramel.

food:

i got a sparkling lemonade which i can't really say anything bad about, for my appetizer i ordered escargot ragout which came with some sort of pesto sauce. the escargot was mostly everything you want from escargot, buttery, soft, salty, flavourful.

next, at main course i ordered a filet mignon for $46 cad that came with king mushrooms, wine sauce, a baby onion, and some celery root puree that i wasn't a big fan of.

finally for desert i got the lemon tart which was soft, citrusy, and the meringue wasn't too crispy but it didn't fall apart either.

service: my waiter spoke mostly french but new basic english communications, didn't seem to know enough to have a full on advanced conversation. but he got the job done after trying his best. there is no coat service, so please hang up your own coats.

ambiance: probably the most, luxurious, priciest, restauranti've ever been to. and i loved it. dimly lit, but more than enough light to see the excellent presentation of the food that comes to your table.

i have been going here for years i can't remember a faux pas from any one at this restaurant
unlikely it's just a fluke it's a mission of excellence that i believe thisrestaurantstrives for. just for that you should go and then when you consider the value( though not cheap) you know this is one of montreal's sure bet!

best late menu in town. i have been to thisrestaurantmany times. i always go after 10, since they offer a late menu special which includes an appetizer and an antree for $25. the late menu features many of their regular menu items which can usually cost you up to twice that amount. the food is always of the highest quality and service is friendly and knowledgeable. i especially like their braised beef short ribs served with barley, the meat falls of the bone and the portion is quite generous, however i have never tried anything there which i did not like. if you go, make sure you save some room for dessert, as they are one of the best places in town for deserts.

february 28, 2015 / by zuuchini / in food , montreal ,restaurantreview / post comment for my mother’s birthday this year, we went to lemeac for brunch. this was a little refresher from her favorite spot, breakfast club. no reservation was made, but it was okay for our laid back schedule. arriving about around 2pm, the restaurant’s tables just started to free up. what a timing! breads with 2 types of jams were served before our main meals and to say the least, mr.butter and my mom fell deeply in love with the jams. sadly, no picture was taken. they were fruity and the sweetness was just on point. potato and leek tartelette, sunny side up egg, lardons and asparagus this tartelette looked harmless on the plate. my mom’s first remark was “that’s all” but appearance can be misleading. maybe it was because of over indulgence of the previous bread, she couldn’t finish it. i don’t blame her; the infiltration of the goat cheese was pungent and became heavy after several mouthful. otherwise, it was a nice hearty tartelette. poached eggs, smoked salmon and spanish caviar on blinis this visually pleasing poached eggs and smoked salmon on what i would like to describe as miniature pancakes were delicious. the poached eggs couldn’t have been better cooked. once knifed it, a coulis of egg yolk rushed out like a opening of a new stream. i personally believed that the spanish caviar was nothing but acting as a fancy visual to the whole dish. mr.butter had to disagree saying he was able taste them. norwegian plate (salmon gravlax, nordic shrimps, caraway bread, cucumber salad) this norwegian plate was quite an unexpected item for brunch, although it fits naturally well in one. the biggest highlight would be the flavorful salmon gravlax. gravlax is basically raw salmon cured in salt, sugar and dill. a nice change from smoked salmon. the slices were thicker and the taste was more soulful. i would choose gralax anyday over smoked salmon. french toast, milk jam ice cream and maple cara

ok!. good ambiancerestaurantto have a girls night out, not too "date feel" place.
for what it is, i would only go after 10pm cause it's almost half price.
it's just always too loud there.
