good option for the northside. a great little italian inspiredrestaurantright next to agh. fresh italian dishes that surprised us with flavor. small interior and friendly staff make you feel welcome. they offer daily specials. fantastic desserts and complimentary homemade fudge was offered at the end of our meal. blackened shrimp pasta was amazing! mussels and shrimp linguine and spaghetti were also enjoyed during our visit. just go and enjoy!

very rude waitress, terrible overpriced food. we were just asked by our waitress to leave because someone with a reservation was waiting for our table. my father and father-in-law were still finishing up their coffee and we had not yet finished our dessert! i've never been so humiliated. do not go to this restaurant! their food was mediocre at best. if you want excellent italian food in a small, intimate atmosphere, go to dish on the south side. this was the first time since my wedding that our parents were able to get together, and we wanted to take them someplace nice. going here was a huge mistake. thisrestaurantis as low class as it gets. i will not be going back here.

great little place!. thisrestaurantis very small, so you need to make reservations... probably a couple days in advance. it is awesome though! the staff is super friendly and the food is great. i'm italian, and our waitress reminded me of my gma; sweet with some sass! the food was perfect. we got an appetizer (muscles), entree's (chicken and veal parmesean) and obviously brought our own wine :) try it out and i promise you will love it. the only negative is that you basically are sitting with the people next to you; thats how close the tables are. we did not mind at all, but this may not be the best place for a first date.

don't go with a "large" party! i have visited legends a few times before with either just my husband or one of two friends. reservations are necessary here, as it is very small and popular. my husband wanted to have a get together for my birthday on saturday. there was a group if six of us. we arrived at 7:50 for our 8pm reservation that were made a week in advance. we waited. and waited. and waited. my husband asked if it would be long around 8:30, to which someone told him they would check (no one ever got back to him). i had enough when a party of 5 without reservations was seated before us at a 6 top table. when i mentioned this, the one waitress was very apologetic and said we would be seated shortly. however, another was quite rude and said "well we can't move tables across therestaurantto seat you!". funny, because i just watched you seat another party before us at an available large table. admit you messed up, rather than yell at the customer. another aspect of our wait was no one offered to take our cold wine or beer and place them in the cooler until 8:50, or offer us a drink. we were finally seated at 9:10. the food was excellent, so i can't say anything bad there. however, our compensation was a bread and cheese app. i feel that we shouldn't have been charged corkage or something for our ridiculous wait, especially since they offered us our own beer during the wait, so i find it tacky to do so then charge me for it. my husband also told them that it was my birthday during the reservations. a table next to us also had a birthday, and were given a slice of cake with a candle in it. i received nothing. in hindsight, i really wish our party had left and went somewhere else to eat. we had plans to go out afterwards, but ending dinner at 10:45 at night kind of put a damper on the rest of our night. it will be a long time (if ever) before i go back here. thanks for making my birthday celebration so special...

thisrestaurantis not vegan friendly despite what this site says. every item on the menu contains meat and/or cheese. you can request them left out but the food is still cooked on the same surfaces and contains little particles. when i advised the waitress that i could not eat there because i am vegan, she shrugged and walked away. will never return or reccomend.

rude waitress. their waitresses need to know that it is rude to make fun of someone's dislike of certain foods and if they do it , they do not need to continually make remarks throughout the whole meal. i will not be back as my evening was ruined by the constant reference to my dislike for onions. like i am the only person in the world who does not like onions. i even left my leftovers behind because i was so upset with her at that point. then she even had to mention it again before i left. i have never encountered this type of behavior at anyrestaurantand we eat out twice a week.

beware of corkage fee!!. the food is great and i love the charm of a smallrestaurantbut watch out as their corkage fee is $4 per person not per bottle!!! there is no way to justify such a charge and as a result i find myself avoiding dining here out of principle. i'd love to hear from legends why they charge such a high fee.

two thumbs down. after driving past thisrestaurantfor many years, i finally ate there. i cannot say "dined". my friend, who has eaten there before, had to point out the specials on the blackboard behind me, as the server did not mention them. suggestion: another blackboard at the other end of the restaurant, so half the diners will not have to turn to look over their shoulders.
my friend ordered a penne dish, which was massive. it came wih a salad - a good handful of wet romaine, coarsely cut, three kalamata olives, a tablespoon of cheese (not even sprinkled on top, just plunked on the side), and something else very forgettable. i ordered a house salad (the same as the side salad), and a bowl of the daily soup, "chunky tomato".
almost as an afterthought, the server plunked (!) a basket of sliced foccacia on the table that was a few hours away from becoming croutons and drier than the oklahoma dust bowl. no amount of dunking would resucitate this. it might pull out a filling, though...
the salads arrived, and i could not find the salad dressing. a balsamic vinaigrette is hard to miss - i even picked up some of the greens, looking for the telltale vinegar at the bottom of the plate. not to be found. so, i asked for more. i got a ramekin with oil, and a scant bit of vinegar sitting in the middle. pitiful. if the dressing was premixed, there should have been bubbles from the emulsification needed to combine the vinegar with the oil (all the kitchen has to do is stir it). more likely, the oil was poured, then the vinegar added.
and then the soup. vegetable soup with canned tomatoes.
we declined dessert. the server returned with a plate of fudge, and asked us to take a piece. no class. just put one small piece per person (and an extra to "fight" over) on a small plate and leave it on the table.
suggestion: fix the website. i called for reservations a few days in advance, as the website offers "ii for xxii" on wednesdays. no, i was brusquely informed, the website's out of date, they no longer offer this special, wednesdays are free corkage nights.
so, for a plate of penne ($15.95), a house salad, a bowl of soup, an iced tea and a glass of soda water, we paid, including tip, over $35.00.
no. never again.

come hungry, leave happy!. i absolutely adore thisrestaurantand i have been there many times without so much of a simple conflict. you are sure to be thrilled at the start by the friendly and quirky staff. the waiters are quick and considerate. the owner is very kind. the food proportions are generous and will leave you feeling happily full, but not stuffed or lethargic. the soups and salads are always presented with care and taste amazing. i never finish a salad at anyrestaurantbut legends! the main courses have a home-made feel that puts everyone in a good mood and the deserts are absolutely to die for! the apple pie is a recipe handed down the family that is worthy of nothing less than "mouth-watering". the place is always warm, open, and good-humored.

whether you're on a date, with family, or just on the prowl for a good meal on your own, you'll have a great time, i ensure it. just remember to byob.

what is this %80 nonsense??. i'm a far, far cry short of what you'd call "easy to please," but absolutely everything i've experienced at legend's has done more than just appease me. the place is a heavenly gift come straight down from therestaurantgods of the universe (if you'll humor my phraseology), and i take myrestaurantopinion-ing very seriously. everything they serve is golden, you literally can not order wrong even if you try, but i would especially advise checking out what the daily specials are and consider accordingly.

and: if you're a stickler for fresh ingredients (my #1restaurantpet peeve far and away is a dish made with anything less than fresh; i don't even own a microwave--well, i do, but it was a thoughtless wedding present and it's still in the box.... and i've been married for six years... i digress), then you will be a very happy patron, indeed. i wouldn't be surprised if they keep an elaborate, oxygenated pond full of various types of fish in the basement somewhere.

finally: if you go (and you should), order a dessert. do it. if you're excessively weight-conscious i would advise justifying it by biking, jogging or cartwheeling yourself up the north shore--even if it adds 6-8 hours to your commute. trust me.

as i'm writing this, legend's of the north shore is hovering around an %80 approval rate that i find mildly ridiculous. not because it's too high, obviously. i thought i was a snob--i'm still scratching my head over the ingrates that didn't say "really like it." did they forget the gold flakes on your ice-cream, or what?
