legends eatery

legends of the north shore is one of the bestitalianrestaurants you are going to find in pittsburgh.  every item on the menu is delicious.  it always comes out hot and fast.  the staff is friendly and the prices are adequate.  the only reason this doesn't get a rating of 5.0 is because the place is super tight.  you are definitely making friends with the people at the next table.  if legends were in a bigger place this would be an 11 on the 10 scale!

nice vday dinner & byob a +. had a very nice valentine days dinner. the place is rather small and crowded, a little noisy, so not really romantic but a very good meal and very good service. there was a special menu for vday. we started with the beans and green anditaliansausage. tasty, delicious, the sausage really added some great flavor. we split two wonderful dinners. a veal arribiata and scallops. both cooked perfectly. save room for some delicious homemade deserts.

love the byob. we had a special bottle to try for vday.

good option for the northside. a great littleitalianinspired restaurant right next to agh. freshitaliandishes that surprised us with flavor. small interior and friendly staff make you feel welcome. they offer daily specials. fantastic desserts and complimentary homemade fudge was offered at the end of our meal. blackened shrimp pasta was amazing! mussels and shrimp linguine and spaghetti were also enjoyed during our visit. just go and enjoy!

very rude waitress, terrible overpriced food. we were just asked by our waitress to leave because someone with a reservation was waiting for our table. my father and father-in-law were still finishing up their coffee and we had not yet finished our dessert! i've never been so humiliated. do not go to this restaurant! their food was mediocre at best. if you want excellentitalianfood in a small, intimate atmosphere, go to dish on the south side. this was the first time since my wedding that our parents were able to get together, and we wanted to take them someplace nice. going here was a huge mistake. this restaurant is as low class as it gets. i will not be going back here.

bestitalianin the city. legends is a hidden gem. located in the deutschtown section of the northside right next to allegheny general hospital. the rejuvenation of this great neighborhood can be evidenced in all the rehab/and new development projects in the area. legends is smack dab in the middle of this transformation. it truly is the bestitalianfood in the city. chef dan's daily specials are what i most often get, and you can taste the passion and thought that goes into crafting his tasty creations. also the greens and beans appetizer is one of my favorites. its byob which i love. you will not be disappointed.

overall a so so experience.. i am not sure what all the rave is about this place.
the food was mediocre, the prices were high for the quality.
the corking fee was ridiculous ($16 for two bottles of wine).
the service was a bit rude.
the atmosphere was okay.
overall, i have had much betteritalianin pgh and the surrounding areas, we don't thin we will be back to this one.

awesome food, tight seating. it's like eatingitalianfood in a european cafe, your space might be invaded but the food more than makes up for it. great, great food on the north side. we especially liked the mussels diablo appetizer. enough mussels to share in a spicy habanero sauce. we ordered it with double habaneros, to die for. along with it being byob a definite home run. must try!!!

best kept secret. legends of the north shore is one of pittsburgh's best kept secrets. some of the bestitalianfood around. i work at agh and enjoy the atmosphere, the friendly people who work there, and the great food! the cajun shrimp pasta dish is a favorite of mine!

legendary indeed. charming and quality. it is intimate and cozy. they put a new urban twist onitalianfood and it is fun and enjoyable. the pasta is good and dessert is great.

what is everyone raving about?. service was kind, the space was loud but jovial. byob is great, and please do it, because your other options are pretty much limited soda or starbucks.

the food was totally mediocre:
hot antipasto platter was serviceable.

gnocchi entree- the gnocchi was bad- chewy and heavy.
the ragu it was in was just plain bland.

salmon al forno- the capers and wine sauce were so transparent, it was like eating plain salmon. and it looked like institutional food- complete with the obligatory scoop of mashed potatoes and the flavorless julienned vegetables. (why do that to a supposedly niceitalianmeal???? please, i amitaliantoo, show some pride in the cuisine you are preparing!!!!)

the complimentary fudge at the end of the meal is a nice gesture, but the chocolate fudge tasted like a tootsie roll and the peanut butter fudge was grainy.

we walked away completely underwhelmed and feeling like we had just eaten at a radisson banquet room, and wondering why we had just spent 47$ for two people for that.

if you want gooditaliando not go to legend's of the north shore- instead stick with cafe davio or dish (not as consistently good as davio), both in the south side.

greatitalianrestaurant and it's byob, which gets extra points. wonderful soups, pasta dishes and specials. love the bite of fudge you get at the end of a meal-just enough for nice sweet finish.

mangia!. this is the bestitalianfood i've eaten since sunday dinners at myitaliangrandma's house! chef dan's menu is fantastic! (try the beans and greens.)

it gets packed so go early or call ahead.

italian and apple pie, you can't go wrong!. one of the bestitalianspots in pittsburgh! good homemadeitalianand the best apple pie in town!

simply wonderful. the food will definitely please every palate - the fish sandwich is to die for - hot, meaty, melt in your mouth -deliciously filling, and theitaliangreens - hhhhhhmmmm
