great food. great atmosphere. nice seating inside. not to many seats. may be wise to make reservations.foodwas chef quality. very tasty and neatly out together. as we were leaving the chef asked us how it was! amazing we said. you can see them cook from some of the seats inside. that's not very common.

i get the small neighborhood feel of restaurent , and i never look at the price if it qualityfood. my salad was rotted ..... penne vodka tasted like it was made with a ordinary marinara sauce service was terrible . there bruschetta supposedly made of focaccia bread .... well chef you don't know what focaccia bread is . don't mind paying for a cork fee 8$ is typical but our server could at lease open the bottle at the table and serve the first glass . ask for a double espresso , i know it wasn't right when it didn't have no crema " the natural coffee foam that come out from a espresso " so i was prepare to taste a ok coffee but it was worst then expected ! was disgusting and cold not wam but ice cold ! very overprice and by far my worst experience dinning in pittsburgh !

greatfood... no drinking... bought a great $15 bottle of wine and they charged $16 for corkage for one bottle of wine... doubled the price of my wine!!

i called on a friday afternoon for a reservation for a party of two, luckily they were able to squeeze us in at 7:45. thank god i called! this unassuming neighborhood spot doesn't have more than 10-15 tables max, most of which are close to each other. i don't mind if my table is close to the people dining next to me, i actually prefer the energy it brings and i must say the vibe was spot on in legends. it very much reminded me of an authentic neighborhood spot tucked away in nyc. you're served warm focaccia bread with olive oil to start which was a nice precursor to the meal. i chose the chicken parmigiana while my boyfriend had the gnocchi bolognese. each entree came with a deliciously fresh salad, it is clear legends does not skimp on the quality of thefoodbeing served. our entrees were wonderful, i could tell my chicken had been made to order and breaded just before being cooked. we ended our meal with the apple pie which was garnished with what seemed to be amazing home made whipped cream. service was good, you can tell it's a group effort which is fine by me. i will absolutely be back for more!

very rude waitress, terrible overpriced food. we were just asked by our waitress to leave because someone with a reservation was waiting for our table. my father and father-in-law were still finishing up their coffee and we had not yet finished our dessert! i've never been so humiliated. do not go to this restaurant! theirfoodwas mediocre at best. if you want excellent italianfoodin a small, intimate atmosphere, go to dish on the south side. this was the first time since my wedding that our parents were able to get together, and we wanted to take them someplace nice. going here was a huge mistake. this restaurant is as low class as it gets. i will not be going back here.

surpirse delight. hubby and i went there on a whim after visiting a patient @agh. the place was hopping for a monday night, thefoodwas great. we got the couples special : a glass of wine each, salad, brushetta ( arrived at end of meal though so we took it home), mussels in lemon butter penne (fantastic) and dessert for 30 bucks!! we will definitely be back!.

best italian in the city. legends is a hidden gem. located in the deutschtown section of the northside right next to allegheny general hospital. the rejuvenation of this great neighborhood can be evidenced in all the rehab/and new development projects in the area. legends is smack dab in the middle of this transformation. it truly is the best italianfoodin the city. chef dan's daily specials are what i most often get, and you can taste the passion and thought that goes into crafting his tasty creations. also the greens and beans appetizer is one of my favorites. its byob which i love. you will not be disappointed.

overall a so so experience.. i am not sure what all the rave is about this place.
thefoodwas mediocre, the prices were high for the quality.
the corking fee was ridiculous ($16 for two bottles of wine).
the service was a bit rude.
the atmosphere was okay.
overall, i have had much better italian in pgh and the surrounding areas, we don't thin we will be back to this one.

italy in pittsburgh. we had a wonderful experience, the closest we have had to the small restaurants we visited in italy. it was crowded, noisy, and very friendly - exactly what we experienced in italy. ourfoodwas excellent and the service outstanding. the staff were all helpful and charming.
we will definitely be back.

cons. very small (seats maybe 40 people) very tight seating ( large people ..beware) very noisy ( because it is very small) ( corkage fee way too much )
very pricey....portions ample..street parking...chairs very small and uncomfortable.
probably won't return ....but really impressed with service and deserts....

great little place!. this restaurant is very small, so you need to make reservations... probably a couple days in advance. it is awesome though! the staff is super friendly and thefoodis great. i'm italian, and our waitress reminded me of my gma; sweet with some sass! thefoodwas perfect. we got an appetizer (muscles), entree's (chicken and veal parmesean) and obviously brought our own wine :) try it out and i promise you will love it. the only negative is that you basically are sitting with the people next to you; thats how close the tables are. we did not mind at all, but this may not be the best place for a first date.

not at all impressed. first off, posting a pasta special without a price, then charging $28 for the meal is ridiculous. then, sitting in uncomfortable chairs on a slanted floor. then, thefoodtasting, well, less than the price suggests. it also grinds my gears to order iced tea, be charged $3, and it not be fresh brewed. even denny's brews their tea. come on!

i do have to say, the staff are very friendly and the bread is very good. however, these two things do not make it appealing enough to return.

don't go with a "large" party! i have visited legends a few times before with either just my husband or one of two friends. reservations are necessary here, as it is very small and popular. my husband wanted to have a get together for my birthday on saturday. there was a group if six of us. we arrived at 7:50 for our 8pm reservation that were made a week in advance. we waited. and waited. and waited. my husband asked if it would be long around 8:30, to which someone told him they would check (no one ever got back to him). i had enough when a party of 5 without reservations was seated before us at a 6 top table. when i mentioned this, the one waitress was very apologetic and said we would be seated shortly. however, another was quite rude and said "well we can't move tables across the restaurant to seat you!". funny, because i just watched you seat another party before us at an available large table. admit you messed up, rather than yell at the customer. another aspect of our wait was no one offered to take our cold wine or beer and place them in the cooler until 8:50, or offer us a drink. we were finally seated at 9:10. thefoodwas excellent, so i can't say anything bad there. however, our compensation was a bread and cheese app. i feel that we shouldn't have been charged corkage or something for our ridiculous wait, especially since they offered us our own beer during the wait, so i find it tacky to do so then charge me for it. my husband also told them that it was my birthday during the reservations. a table next to us also had a birthday, and were given a slice of cake with a candle in it. i received nothing. in hindsight, i really wish our party had left and went somewhere else to eat. we had plans to go out afterwards, but ending dinner at 10:45 at night kind of put a damper on the rest of our night. it will be a long time (if ever) before i go back here. thanks for making my birthday celebration so special...

awesome food, tight seating. it's like eating italianfoodin a european cafe, your space might be invaded but thefoodmore than makes up for it. great, greatfoodon the north side. we especially liked the mussels diablo appetizer. enough mussels to share in a spicy habanero sauce. we ordered it with double habaneros, to die for. along with it being byob a definite home run. must try!!!

came here for valentines day with my girlfriend. absolutely incredible. thefoodwas amazing, the atmosphere was perfect. only complaint is how close the tables are but since it's extremely limited seating it's worth it.
