being with people that share the same interest always feels good. hence, i happily had brunch with my fellow food bloggers. and bonus, the chosenrestaurantwas le cartet which was in my list to try for a long time. these tiny spongy cake bites were offered to each one of us. to my knowledge, it was a common practice for every table. these were sure delicious. wet, yet dense. wish i knew what exactly they were, i need my fellows’ help! brunch des cantons seemed like a must as it was ordered by 3 people in our table. one thing for sure, if you want to be charged up with protein for the rest of the day, this is the one to order! but to say it was an original and fantastic meal would be a bit of an exaggeration. and if you want to be charged up with simply sweetness for the rest of the day, brunch sucre will be screaming your name! the portion was more than enough. i was having a hard time to finish it, and of course, mr.butter finished it for me! the crepes were good thanks to the fresh

bright, open and airy, thisrestaurantis perfectly set up for breakfast and casual dining. it's a long room set up with multiple benches, and works well for single travelers. situated just outside of old montreal, it's a short walk to all the sights. get here early, as it fills up fast. i had a version of eggs benedict, very tasty, well balanced. service was efficient. great selection of twists on breakfast mainstays and coffee was fantastic!

finally got to visit this popular brunch joint in old montreal, last time i met with a shut door as i came too late, so don't forget that it's a brunchrestaurantand check their hours before you go. their location isn't convenient either, it's about five minutes walk from victoria metro station. but after today's visit, i felt it definitely worth my effort and detour.

therestaurantis inside a very narrow and long hall span from the front all the way to the back. right beside the front door is a window that displays various honors and articles about therestaurantin press and media. the deco is simple and industrial themed with brick walls painted white and painted metal board, marble stones hang on the wall. the ambience is modern and chic, with light pendants hanging right above the dinner tables that let you feel like sitting inside a bar, the kitchen and pastry room was right beside the dining room separated with big glass windows.

all right, now let's talk about their food, i have seen some pictures of their dishes before i came , so i definitely have something in mind as what to order, nevertheless i still want to check out their menu and see what they have to offer. the menu was roughly divided into three sections, brunch, breakfast plates and others such as drinks and sides. since i came for the brunch, i asked the waiter which one he would recommend, sure enough, he recommended the "brunch des cantons" which is what i planed to order. all the brunch meals have two prices, one is 19$ for the brunch only, the other is 26$ with a cocktail called mimosa, since i've never tried this drink before, i ordered both the brunch and the cocktail.

very soon, the waiter brought the cocktail mimosa and a small plate of chocolate flavored cake as starters. the moment i had my first sip of the drink, i knew it would instantly become one of my favorite cocktails. it is made of half champagne and half orange juice, together they produce the taste of home made rice wine with mild alcohol, sweetness, as well as acidity and sourness, truly amazing, so if you visit the restaurant, make sure you order "mimosa". the chocolate cake tastes good too, it is slightly firm than a normal cake and the chocolate is kind of addictive and a perfect pairing with the cocktail.

before i could finish the snacks, the waiter brought the main course "brunch des cantons" in a hot iron cast pan with the food still sizzling inside. boy, did i say this brunch is super rich? it has all the goodies we crave for in a brunch, a mixed meat sausage which i believe includes lamp and herbal spices, a stack of home made ham covered with some sweet roasted bean paste which unlike those from supermarket, actually tastes meaty and tender, several slices of perfectly fried bacon looks crispy but not burned and still retains a bit tenderness, a pile of scrambled eggs cooked to perfection with some of the egg yoke is still in liquid state, and three halves of small potatoes roasted in duck fat. all the ingredients are quite fresh and not too salty, it wasn't as greasy as i expect, holy cow, it tastes like heaven. some may say it wasn't healthy, but we are not having it everyday, so it doesn't hurt if we indulge ourselves once in a while. the brunch also comes with two small slices of french toast and two whipped butter in a separate plate, which i had at the end with the brunch leftovers as its toppings.

the service is excellent too, the crew are well dressed, warm , attentive and professional. the only downside might be its price is slightly high, and if there is anything i would like them to change a bit is to include some veggie and fruits in the brunch, of course they have many other options that do include them, but a brunch without any of them doesn't feel complete. over all, my experience is quite pleasant, and this is probably the best brunch i've ever had, hands down. so, for those of you who are visiting montreal, le cartet is a culinary institution you should not miss.

i had a cafe au lait and the toscan breakfast plate. the cafe au lait was just right and the toscan wasn't too bad either. therestaurantwas pretty packed for sunday brunch when we arrived; so i appreciated the quick service the staff seemed to be like a well oiled machine. they need to have a better terrace arrangement though.

this place is great for breakfast and brunch. they have a great mix of healthy and hearty options which i really like. their greek yogurt is a favourite of mine, along with their crepes. service is okay, sometimes it's difficult to flag down your waitress but most mornings here they are really busy so i get it. nevertheless they're prompt and got all my orders right. therestauranthas a chic vibe that i adore, and i also love that you can buy a lot of their foods, snacks, tea, coffee, and drinks easily to go if you're on the run. i'd definitely come back for seconds and also for their weekend brunch when i have a chance!

the place was crowded and but service did not seem slow for a sunday morning brunch. this may not be the place for a quiet, intimate chat with your friend at this time of the day, but certainly i will come back for the decor and the energy thisrestaurantexudes.

le cartet is a beautifulrestaurantand market located in old montréal known for its brunch. during our recent trip to montréal, we couldn't help but dine here two days in a row. therestauranthas high ceilings, industrial style walls, and modern décor. in the middle of therestaurantare two large wooden communal tables where on a busy weekend morning it'll look like a fantastic display of gorgeous brunch plates with colorful fruits, golden brown croissants, and bright yellow yolks of poached eggs. brunch sucre the brunch menu at le cartet is fit for those with big and small appetites - from freshly baked goods to fruit platters to classic big breakfast items. there are six main brunch plates to choose from which is served with an amuse bouche, an assortment of fruits, and choice of beverage (a glass of fresh orange juice or cup of illy coffee). add $6 for a delicious mimosa. if you've got a sweet tooth, we recommend le brunch sucré . for about $16, you get a crepes with blueberries

colorful jars of jam and chocolate makes therestaurantlook so cute! all meals on the brunch menu come with a small cake, fresh orage juice and coffee. i like that! i ordered "brunch de l'atlantique" (top left pic), and my boyfriend ordered "brunch des cantons" (bottom right pic). if you like salmon, you will love brunch de l'atlantique! you'll get a bagel with smoked salmon, scrambled eggs with salmon in it and deep fried cakes of potato and crushed salmon. it was really good! it's a really casual place and it can be bit noisy because it's really popular. we had to wait 20 min to get a table. they don't take reservations on weekends. but who cares about the time on weekends!? take your time and enjoy the food! le cartet 106 mcgill montreal -opening hours- mon to fri : 7:

not recommended for lunch. very nice restaurant, but at least 3 of the dishes we wanted were "unavailable".
i ordered the salmon tartare in entree which was not very tasty, very small portion..
in dessert i ordered the fondant au chocolat which was more a chocolate mousse than a fondant. there was an aftertaste of salt.
quite expensive for what i ate
i do not recommend thisrestaurantfor lunch

was a really good place to eat, once upon a time. now, the only redeeming quality about therestaurantis it's location, decor and atmosphere. if that alone is enough fir you, then his place is for you. if you want good food, i suggest you look elsewhere.
