being with people that share the same interest always feels good. hence, i happily had brunch with my fellow food bloggers. and bonus, the chosen restaurant was le cartet which was in my list to try for a long time. these tiny spongy cake bites were offered to each one of us. to my knowledge, it was a common practice for every table. these were sure delicious. wet, yet dense. wish i knew what exactly they were, i need my fellows’ help! brunch des cantons seemed like a must as it was ordered by 3 people in our table. one thing for sure, if you want to be charged up with protein for the rest of the day, this is the one to order! but to say it was an original and fantastic meal would be a bit of an exaggeration. and if you want to be charged up with simply sweetness for the rest of the day, brunch sucre will be screaming your name! the portion was more than enough. i was having a hard time to finish it, and of course, mr.butter finished it for me! the crepes weregoodthanks to the fresh

prettygoodfood but waitress had a very bad attitude and questioned why we didn't tip her more and proceeded to stay there counting out the change to give us as apparently it seemed it wasn't a big enough tip so she didn't want it at all. coming from a country where no one tips unless the service is exceptional everyone at the table felt this very rude and it made everyone uncomfortable.

really nice place in old montréal for breakfast. the lattes here are reallygood(recommend the maple latte if you like maple). the pastries are excellent. the brunch items were delicious. highly recommend trying this place if in montréal. it is a little pricey for breakfast/brunch but the portions are large.

great place to brunch but forever waiting line up. yet, it is worth the wait. their menu suites everyone. they have dishes that are heavy others that are light. they have healthy food as much as very fattening plates. the drinks aregoodtoo! other than the waiting, everything is great!

finally got to visit this popular brunch joint in old montreal, last time i met with a shut door as i came too late, so don't forget that it's a brunch restaurant and check their hours before you go. their location isn't convenient either, it's about five minutes walk from victoria metro station. but after today's visit, i felt it definitely worth my effort and detour.

the restaurant is inside a very narrow and long hall span from the front all the way to the back. right beside the front door is a window that displays various honors and articles about the restaurant in press and media. the deco is simple and industrial themed with brick walls painted white and painted metal board, marble stones hang on the wall. the ambience is modern and chic, with light pendants hanging right above the dinner tables that let you feel like sitting inside a bar, the kitchen and pastry room was right beside the dining room separated with big glass windows.

all right, now let's talk about their food, i have seen some pictures of their dishes before i came , so i definitely have something in mind as what to order, nevertheless i still want to check out their menu and see what they have to offer. the menu was roughly divided into three sections, brunch, breakfast plates and others such as drinks and sides. since i came for the brunch, i asked the waiter which one he would recommend, sure enough, he recommended the "brunch des cantons" which is what i planed to order. all the brunch meals have two prices, one is 19$ for the brunch only, the other is 26$ with a cocktail called mimosa, since i've never tried this drink before, i ordered both the brunch and the cocktail.

very soon, the waiter brought the cocktail mimosa and a small plate of chocolate flavored cake as starters. the moment i had my first sip of the drink, i knew it would instantly become one of my favorite cocktails. it is made of half champagne and half orange juice, together they produce the taste of home made rice wine with mild alcohol, sweetness, as well as acidity and sourness, truly amazing, so if you visit the restaurant, make sure you order "mimosa". the chocolate cake tastes goodtoo, it is slightly firm than a normal cake and the chocolate is kind of addictive and a perfect pairing with the cocktail.

before i could finish the snacks, the waiter brought the main course "brunch des cantons" in a hot iron cast pan with the food still sizzling inside. boy, did i say this brunch is super rich? it has all the goodies we crave for in a brunch, a mixed meat sausage which i believe includes lamp and herbal spices, a stack of home made ham covered with some sweet roasted bean paste which unlike those from supermarket, actually tastes meaty and tender, several slices of perfectly fried bacon looks crispy but not burned and still retains a bit tenderness, a pile of scrambled eggs cooked to perfection with some of the egg yoke is still in liquid state, and three halves of small potatoes roasted in duck fat. all the ingredients are quite fresh and not too salty, it wasn't as greasy as i expect, holy cow, it tastes like heaven. some may say it wasn't healthy, but we are not having it everyday, so it doesn't hurt if we indulge ourselves once in a while. the brunch also comes with two small slices of french toast and two whipped butter in a separate plate, which i had at the end with the brunch leftovers as its toppings.

the service is excellent too, the crew are well dressed, warm , attentive and professional. the only downside might be its price is slightly high, and if there is anything i would like them to change a bit is to include some veggie and fruits in the brunch, of course they have many other options that do include them, but a brunch without any of them doesn't feel complete. over all, my experience is quite pleasant, and this is probably the best brunch i've ever had, hands down. so, for those of you who are visiting montreal, le cartet is a culinary institution you should not miss.

a prettygoodplace for brunch with a wide selection and the staff is pretty attentive.

the amuse bouche (if thats how you spell it) was prettygoodand the brunche cartet is pretty filling although i was surprised by the large amount of salad on the side

the salmon cake was tasty and the ham croissant was absolutely amazing, for me it was the highlight of the plate. not a big fan of cheese sticks

definately give this place a try, will visit again for other dishes!

terrific breakfast.  my wife and i arrived at 9:00 on sunday morning, and were promptly seated.   the staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and efficient.   we both ordered a large latte - served in bowls - verygoodcoffee.  we each had one of the brunch specials - the atlantic platter was great - scrambled eggs with salmon, a salmon croquette, and a bagel with cream cheese.   everything was well cooked, fresh and very appealing to look at.

the food is alwaysgoodhere, my issue is with the price. i think it's far too expensive for brunch. aside from that, the little market they have is nice with an assortment of different oils, jams, chocolates.

le cartet is one of my favourite breakfast spot in montreal. sun-no-sun, le resto boutique  is always a glorious place to start the day with its high ceilings and long wooden tables. its grandeur lays in its extensive breakfast & brunch menu. whether it be during the week or  le week-end, omelettes and bagels are consistently plated, beautifully, savoury and served in more than satisfying proportions. i barely ever manage to finish my plate each time i eat here… but would never think of sharing because of howgoodand comforting the food is. coffee cups are magically refilled and the service is laid-back, in agoodway. no wonder we weren’t the only one ready to brave the polar vortex to enjoy le cartet on this cold cold morning.

the brunch combos were really great, and i really reccomend you to pick one of those combos
we had the brunch santé and brunch atlantique, i have nothing else to say but great!
afterwards shared a chocolate diplomate, again, really good.
