came right in and say down. perfect portions and tastes amazing. so glad we came here on our way through athens.

must have in athens. lrg is one of my favorite restaurants in athens! if you don't believe me, just check out the lines that wrap around the building on any weekend! the food here is all so amazing, as are the cakes made by cecila v's! i love stopping by here anytime i'm in athens for their famous praline chicken (for dinner) and their new rockville pasta (for lunch). great atmosphere, friendly employees and affordable prices-that's what i'm all about!

let me talk to you about their salads. may i be so bold as to tell you exactly what dressing you should ask for? vidalia bacon. no question. it's out of this world. if, for some crazy reason, you ignore that suggestion, go with the gorgonzola. trust me on this.

was here a couple if years ago and was great. was here last night 11/15/12 and food was really not good at all. potato pancake appetizer was a glorified over cooked waffle house special and was very greasy. chicken praline was so bad i sent back. was very blah. got chicken special and it wasn't much better and was way over priced. place was packed but was probably one of the worst dining experiences i've ever had. server was great though.

had the salmon and grits. the salmon was cooked perfectly and the grits were delicious. the service was excellent.

another game weekend. we went back again this home game weekend. we arrive around 8:15 and were seated close to 9:30. there were 2 of us. i had an apple martini at the bar that was well made. our table was near the glass doors and in a small cuby hole so the noise wasn't completely deafening. but it is very loud in the restaurant. we had crab cakes as an appetizer that were wonderful. very light with a great sauce. i had the salmon and grits which was a generous portion and cooked just right. my daughter had the strip medium and it was cooked just right. both came with salads and we got the balsamic vinaigrette and it was great. no dessert but there were great choices. i had a glass of the house riesling which was nice.

a few months ago, while travelling to athens, ga for the a cappella production work i do, we needed a sweet brunch spot. some friends recommended this little place, last resort grill. what a treat!

crab cakes had shells in them and the southwest roll lacked flavor. i don't see why this place is so popular.

always worth the wait.... every time i go to last resort i have an incredibly long wait, but i never mind. people watching outside is great, especially on a sunday, and on occasion when i have had extreme waits, the manager has sent over free appetizers to keep us happy! the food here is inventive and exceptional. i love the atmosphere and style of the restaurant. this is one of my favorite brunch spots in athens and i love their grits. unforgettable! you really can't go wrong with anything you choose here so if you're not a sourpuss and don't mind the wait, you won't be disappointed.

wonderful. i thoroughly enjoyed my visit to last resort. headed there based on a suggestion from several friends. had a salmon pasta in a dijon cream sauce with greens and heirloom tomatoes over house-made pasta. very nicely done. my daughter (four years old) is extremely picky about her food, and she ate her grilled chicken sandwich and part of my pasta happily. sweet and attentive service, great vibe, good coffee. really enjoyed and will definitely return.

good, but not really that great .... after reading the reviews, and hearing great things from others, we finally tried the last resort grill. lots of things about it are good - but not great. the location, the ambiance, the service, the variety, the prices - all good, but not exactly 'great' in my book. some people are all about those things to different degrees, but for me, the food accounts for 98% of my rating. and all i can say is - meh! again, good - but definitely not great.

the bottom line is that the entrees were simply not well put together. i have to say that our proteins (fish and beef) were both very well cooked, and alone were quite decent. it was the accompaniments and embellishments that blew it ... my steak came with undercooked/underwhelming potatoes and overcooked/underflavored corn on the cob. a 'jus' and a different sauce on the plate were minimal in both quantity and flavor. overall, not a great plate. my wifes perfectly cooked and perfectly tasty fish special (-much- more expensive than main menu items, by the way) was completely ruined by too many competing flavors - pepper relish, blueberry reduction, something else i don't remember(!) all atop bland grits and (the best bit) swiss chard.

personally, i'll consider this an upmarket chilli's that cooks quite well but combines poorly, and i'll choose much more carefully next time. if they want to be considered a 'proper' restaurant, maybe they should invest in a proper head-chef who can put together decent dishes?

really?. i'm thinking this is a "good" restaurant for people whose basis of comparison is, i don't know, applebees and outback? i am really shocked even looking at the menu (before tasting anything) that there are people who say this is the "best" of anything they have had. i honestly feel bad for them. mostly because if their mom can't cook better than this, their childhood must have sucked.

the building was the best part. it is pretty cute inside and they have an okay wine list. the food was very bland. i had a stuffed chicken breast. it tasted like boiled chicken with no seasoning and it had a cheese sauce inside that was supposedly composed of several cheeses. the cheese tasted like queso fresco, so very plain, no herbs, no seasoning, no hint depth in flavor that one would expect from a decent blend of cheeses. it honestly could have been better with velveeta inside. it was on a pile of grits that tasted like plain instant grits from waffle house and it also had some unseasoned green beans.

nothing was offensive. but it wasn't fine dining. it wasn't recommendable.

the menu lacks a lot of creativity. there are four appetizers. the "sauces" that come on the entrees are very basic and fall back on "easy" combinations.no interesting use of ingredients or produce and no complexity.

worth the wait.. best new york strip i have had. my dining companions food was excellent. service was excellent. owner on premises - very nice folks. only down side - very noisy.

phenomenal food, we had the onion potato pancake appetizer, and i had the salmon bisque, sadly on special, so who knows when they'll have it again. the appetizers were just amazing. for a main course, we had the cafe strip steak and the parchment baked chicken. the chicken was extremely good, though not what i expected from the menu description, (i expecte far more vegetables in the bake, and it was alfredo sauce with some kale and tomatoes) was nonetheless delicious. my fiancé's steak, on the other hand was cooked nearly well-done when she had ordered medium-rare. however, when she mentioned it to the waiter, it was at most 5 minutes until she got a new, perfectly cooked steak, and they were very understanding and apologetic. with the food quality and exceptional service, i'll definitely be coming back!
