really enjoyed it!. 6 of us ventured to lapiazzaal forno last night. lots of rules for a little hole in the wall, (no split cheques, will not seat you until all of your party has arrived......etc) but all in all a really good first experience for the husband and myself (others had been before) we shared to dolce diavolo pizze. delish. full of flavor, quite spicy, the honey was a perfect addition. other couples also shared pizzas, everyone left happy. prices are resonable . will return for sure!

always busy but always good.. i've been to this restaurant enough times to call myself a fan. the food is delicious, the atmosphere is nice, the wait staff is accommodating and pleasant to be around, and it's located in one of the best shopping areas known to natives of glendale. my personal favorite out of everything on the menu is the italian stallion. if you like meat and you like pizza, this is certainly something you cannot pass up. a friend of mine is italian and swears by this pizza. as far as i've experienced, all of their pizzas are wonderful. some pasta dishes lack in the flavor you'd expect after having a pizza there, so it's best to just get the pizza. the salads are wonderful too, this is coming from a notorious salad hater. the only downside to this restaurant is that it is often busy. i suggest going around 2-3 in the afternoon, between the busy hours. essentially, if you love to eat pizza, especially good pizza, you need to visit lapiazzaal forno.

just not what we expected. the 9 of us came to lapiazzahoping for a great culinary experience, since we heard about their special authentic "neapolitan" pizza. we get there early and the waitress tells us we can't sit down until all of us were there. there we no seats to sit and wait outside.. when we finally get in, we ordered some pizza and some of us spaghetti and meatballs( you would think a real easy meal). the waitress' service was slow. when we finally ordered, the bread finally came with no butter, so we had to ask for some. you would think it would be garlic bread, but no. as for the spaghetti, it was tasteless, as were the meatballs. not at all spicy or salted. the sauce was like a can of tomato sauce and that was it. there was no parmesan cheese even! there was no salt and pepper on the table, so we had to ask for that. as for the pizza, the crust was okay, but the meats were very salty and the bottom of the crust was wet. needless to say, we were all very disappointed and have no desire to visit again. arrivaderci, la piazza!

best of 2008 is worst of 2012. i went with friends to lapiazzaal forno because of all the reviews indicating it was the best of the best. however, after having the worst pizza and zeppolis ever, i noticed all the reviews that are good are from 2008. the prices were over the top for terrible food. if i judged italian food by what was served there i would never have italian food again. the zeppolis were pieces of deep fried bread rolls and the pizza was a piece of thin tasteless cardboard with an ounce of cheese and oil on it. the restaurant environment is dirty, drab, and uninviting. perhaps there is a new owner since 2008. i would never recommend this place to anyone!

after our drive from the grand canyon, checking into the hotel, and a quick nap we were ready to get to the the hockey game we had tickets for. where to eat though? of course i had planned where we were going, just wanted to make it a little more dramatic. we were headed to glendale, so it was an easy decision, lapiazzaal forno would be our destination. lapiazzawants everyone to know that they make "real" pizza. neapolitan pizza. pizzas like the ones being baked in wood fired ovens in naples. they use san marzano tomatoes, double 00 flour, and mozzarella that they actually make at the restaurant. on their website they discredit square, stuffed, round, and extra thick pizzas, stating that they, "are not real pizza". lapiazzais actually certified by the italian government to adhere to the set of guidelines based on neapolitan tradition. with these boastful claims i was very excited to try their real pizza. we arrived at

i really love wood-fired pizzas. this is another location that comes recommended by diners, drive-ins and dives. this is a beautiful location with a great atmosphere. we were seated promptly and ordered 3 pizzas (2 italian stallions which have: san marzano tomatoes d.o.p., homemade mozzarella, prosciutto di parma (cotto), sopressata, schreiner's sausage and pepperoni and a bianca which has: homemade mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil, ricotta cheese, fresh garlic and basil). the one below is the bianca. i had some of both and the italian stallion was really delicious, the meats all worked well together and weren't overpowering. the bianca was really light and delicious. their house made mozzarella really made the difference between plain old pizza and a wonderful authentic wood fired pizza. if you can stand the heat in phoenix, try to make it to lapiazzaal forno. i don't lie about pizza.

never again. my wife read good reviews so we tried this place tonight. we arrived at 6:00 p.m., and put our names on the list. they told us that there would be an hour wait. that hour wait was spent standing on the sidewalk since they don't have any significant waiting area. an hour later we checked on our status, and they told us that it would be another 20 minutes. 30 minutes later we checked out status again. now the story was that they didn't really know when we could get in. my wife said that we really needed to know when we would be seated. they suggested that we should leave if we couldn't wait an unknown amount of time. i had been totally quiet for the entire hour and a half, but decided it was time to inform them that their treatment of customers was total bs. we then went a block down the street and had a nice mexican dinner. you couldn't pay me enough money to ever try lapiazzaagain.

good food, but getting too popular. its sad really. to often a restaurant will start up and build a clientele and they start to get very popular. soon this popularity creates an ego and this ego leads to poor business choices.

lapiazzahas great food. its small and cozy and the staff is family and very friendly. sadly, they have so much business that they don't mind offending and turning away customers.

i wanted to make a reservation for my birthday. the reservation was to be for 15 people. i called and was told that the do not take reservations for any size. they offer call ahead seating but the restaurant is so small that i doubt they could ever fit a party of 15 people without a set time. i did not want my friends and family waiting and waiting for half the restaurant to clear out before they would be seated.

i am glad that the are busy enough to turn away a $200+ group, but now i feel that if they do not want my business, that i will not go back even when it is just me.

incredible food, great price. the az rep got this one right! while the decor may not be that of a 5-star, stuffy restaurant, the wait staff treated us with great respect and were very personable. when i requested a suggestion, the family matriarch (grandchild was in a highchair towards the back), took the time to understand our tables' likes and dislikes before making a recommendation.

her suggestions were right-on! we started with the amazing stuffed shrimp and garlic bread. all seasoned perfectly where you could taste the food, not a bunch of salt and spices. we then followed it up with a combination of pizza and the family specialty (i have never seen it in another restaurant), the chicken pesto lasagna. we actually ordered two pizzas, both diverse from the other, and each incredible in its own manner. i loved the italian stallion (meat pizza), while my wife enjoyed to perfect blend of cheeses and garlic, olive oil and basil on the white pizza.

while the beer and wine list was not extensive, the options complimented the menu very well. and by dessert time, our heads were spinning. once again, grandma made a few recommendation for our table, and after her previous success, we cashed in again! the cheesecake was simple yet elegant and wonderful, while the cannolli's where exactly what i expected and more (again, i preferred the standard while a friend of ours absolutely loved the chocolate version).

bottom line, the food at this family restaurant beats anything that scottsdale can offer without the snobbery. meanwhile, the price was the most reasonable i have experienced in some time. we will go out of our way to eat at lapiazzaal forno. well done!
