went for the first time recently. the vibe is great, restaurant was very full. service was quite slow so we kept having to look for the waiter, maybe they should get some more staff.niceplace to indulge in good tapas. i would recommend some more options that aren't so deep fried

we decided to go for dinner at la parada on a friday night with 3 kids as we were staying in hout bay just a couple of minutes from the restaurant. unfortunately there was no indication that it is quite lively on a friday night. the hostess greeted me by asking if we mind being seated at a high table and i had no problem with it. after being seated we realised that the table next to us was quite loud. we explained to our 12, 10 and 9 year old that by friday adults like letting their hair down a bit and can get a bit loud. unfortunately it got even louder and we asked our lovely waiter if we can move. he couldn’t get a table in the quieter area and asked if we would be ok moving to the back and we were happy to do so. still that particular table was loud and we eventually decided to talk to the hostess about the noise. she said she would talk to the table but she didn’t. my partner then went to speak to her as well and she said she would talk to the manager. waited and she eventually came and asked us to move again and we said we are not willing to do it again after which she finally got the manager. the manager was a class act. he also asked us to move and said that they would laugh at him if he addressed the issue. we explained that we had already moved but no one has had a word with the table to ask them if they can just tone it down a bit. the manager went over to the table and it was clear that he was not addressing the issue. he was actually having a laugh with them. they were loudly making comments directed at us, including comments about the children.

i think we should have turned around when we were trying to park the car and saw a car rev away loudly with the music blaring.

why the hostess decided to put us in the section she did is beyond me. we don’t mind lively but a good hostess would know where to place a family with children.

our waiter was such aniceguy. food was good too. pity about management. was a manageable situation.

amazing food and quality service. however the portion sizes are extremely small for the amount paid.

we tried the pork belly and the prawns and yes it was good, but the amount served was not worth the price at all...if you advertise it as tapas for sharing then please include enough to share!!

the service was pretty average as well, my sisters were immediately asked for their id even though they hadn’t even ordered any alcohol and it is a restaurant...they were quite offended from the word go.

however, the vibe is there and it is quite anicespot to have cocktails with the girls on a saturday/friday afternoon.

they have the most amazing food. three of us went and we had ordered main meals each and when we got the food it was sooooo much(not complaining though). two people can eat off one main meal. oh and their ham croquetas are to die for. its has a great vibe for the family or anicechill evening with friends. they are quite pricey but honestly so worth it! the service was fantastic and the staff were so helpful and friendly. i will definitely be coming back!!

the service was less than friendly with the hope that the food and atmosphere would make up for the service. however the calamari was oily. the pork belly was decent but not the greatest and the chourrizo tasted like bacon that has been left out and even a hobo wouldn't eat it so they served it , we have had better in a pora hole in jhb south, in addition to the portions were undersized which in the case was good due the the lack of quality served on the plates. the mojito taste like water with lemon juice poured in. it also was very hot with no accomodation for fans or anything to cool us while dining. on the bright side of the experience the views were veryniceand the decor of the venue.

arrived at la parada after a relaxing sunday drive through woodlands in constantia. the restaurant was vibrant and exciting with life. there was a distinct scent of jubilation in the air. the band was playing popular music with an afro twist to it. we were seated next to the stage, which was quite a busy area. i ordered tapas to eat this was the; salt and pepper fried calamari, prawn croquetas and the honey and thime roasted butternut.

the salt and pepper calamari, was fresh, it had anicelemon zest and tender crumb to it. the prawn croquetas were cooked well through, the tomato aioli is not strong. makes it a comfortable dish to enjoy. the butternut was sweet and soft, it was a great compliment to the main tapas.

great place to spend a sunday afternoon

the venue isnicefor lunch on a sunny afternoon. it can get quite hot so you'll want to go when it's not boiling outside. a mild summer afternoon is best. the food (tapas) is good. there are a variety of different options to choose from. the portion sizes are decent (1 tapas is big enough for two people to share and i recommend that you order a few of the dishes so that you can try different things from their menu). lots of flavours and textures to enjoy. the croquettes are my personal favourite. there are affordable wine options available which is great. on average, you can expect to spend between r200 - r250 per person for a few tapas dishes (4-6 dishes) to share including drinks.

blistering hot day so we were lucky to sit under an umbrella on the terrace. music spanish and jazzy, nicevibe overall. the waiter relaxed and friendly, not rushed at all. we just kept ordering tapas from their list of delicious choices. line fish (steenbrass) and tuna absolute best choice. chorizo ok, not very spicy. grilled calamari delicious! craft beers on tap to cool you down. we had a lovely and long lunch. pity that zomato indicates that lunch is only from 12 to 2pm. this is not the case. kitchen is open from 12 noon to 22h00 (i asked)!

the venue, vibe and service were all really great! strangely laid back and chilled, which was unexpected but not unwelcome!

the reason for the 3 rating though, is because the food was slightly disappointing. the tomato salad and bread we had to start was okay. i expected more from the tomato salad, and the bread was nothing special.
our main was the pork belly, seared tuna, octopus salad and charred broccoli and green beans. the pork belly was the only one i'd really write home about! it was so yum, and perfect crackling! the octopus salad was also really yum. but the tuna i wasn't crazy about, and the broccoli and beans was super run of the mill, nothing special.

we also had two cocktails, both of which were overly sweet.nicebut next time i'd want less syrup/sugar.

overall it was a reallyniceevening and i had a really good night. probably won't rush back for the food, but definitely would go back for drinks!

i felt a little underwhelmed. it’s anicesetting, inside or out, but we were there in the middle of the day and the service felt too slow and detached, especially seeing as we were one of the very few occupied tables.

we had the pork belly tapas, which was very nice, and the grilled calamari, as well as the churros that didn’t look like churros and resembled donuts instead.

i do feel that it was slightly too expensive for tapas, but that’s just my personal opinion. i haven’t really dined in the southern suburbs, so maybe that’s just the way things are that side of the n1.

such an amazing setting! really great atmosphere. love the decor inside and outside. staff are friendly and welcoming. food is great and presented well. wasn't too much going on with the salad, very bland and plain so i wouldn't order that again. in general, a veryniceexperience!

couldn't wait to try this place out.
we visit hout bay regularly and the location is perfect to stop off on the way there or back.
the decor is quirky and modern with plenty of tables outdoors for a spot of al fresco dining.
you only get a view of the road but luckily the food is pretty as a picture so you will probably be more interested in looking at the plate.
we had breakfast on this occasion smoked salmon and the frittata both were ample portions and full of flavour.
only negative thing was the lengthy time we had to wait to get the bill.
they've just opened so i think they are still refining the art of defining which waiters should stick to which tables but honestly it wasn't something to out me off as we had such anicemeal.
will be back for dinner soon!

the relaxed atmosphere and tasty tapas make la parada such an ideal dinner spot! the constantia la parada has aniceopen outside area which is perfect for the cape town summer. the tapas are quite large and great for sharing. the fried calamari was definitely the highlight of the meal, with the beef fillet coming in at a close second.
