popped in to la parada after our plans went a little haywire, as it's close to home and the weather was great. pity.
venue looks good, outside tables were perfect for warm weather, despite arriving at 7:30pm, and the place was still fullish. however the food was disappointing.
we ordered salt&peppercalamari(no real seasoning on deep fried calamari, although they were tender. aioli was bland. patata bravas were roasted/oil fried, with too little tomato sauce and too much bland mayo - not traditional. beetroot cured salmon was good, pork belly was good, and the best tapas of the night went to tomato salad.
roasted tomatoes with pine puts, green beans, and vinaigrette- great antidote to the pub-like tapas. a couple of glasses of bubbly, a glass of vondeling rosé and a glass of vondeling shiraz - before we polished off the cremé catalan, which was superb.
nice to try, but not rushing back. feels like an early evening drinks spot.
