very impressed! busy place, thank goodness i made reservations. we were seated immediately inside, the place was full inside and out. chips, salsa and caesar's queso did not disappoint. homemade chips and thick tortillas were delicious. we had enchiladas callejeras and tex amex enchiladas. both were sogoodwe over stuffed ourselves. i highly recommend this place for date night and out of town guests. i will definitely be back.

add an excellent location and ambiance. i would have loved to sit at that bar, but our table was ready when we got there. beautiful windows and outdoor seating.
the service was also excellent. ask for the specials and seriously consider them.
these folks know what they are doing.

one of the best san antonio restaurants. la fonda is the perfect mix of classy and reasonable and their food is always delicious! i stick to my favorites, the la fonda special, tacos de pato, and carne asada a la tampiquena, and have never been disappointed! the casa alicia is an incredible event venue, the patio is a peaceful garden, and the inside is a slightly more formal feel. all in all,goodfood with a fun feel! their lunch specials are a well kept secret and a great way to enjoy the tasty cuisine at a fraction the price.

great night out at la fonda. my fiance and i made reservations for saturday at 7 in the dining room. we had to wait a few minutes for our table to be cleaned off, while they took some other couples that walked in after us with reservations directly to their seats in front of us. the table we sat at was near a window and it felt like the whole floor/table was leaning over towards to the window. after we got past that, the top shelf margaritas were delicious and the carne asada plate was also very good. we ordered the queso fundido with chorizo for appetizer, and although it wasgoodit was not the best. the cheese had almost no flavor and it was very liquidy. overall, verygoodstill.

tres leches. the tres leches was very moist. it hadgoodtexture andgoodflavor.. the plating of the dessert was in a deep saucer type plate. the portion size was about 3x3x2. with a layer of creamy whipped cream on top and garnished with a dulce de leche type sauce drizzled on top and toasted slivered almonds. the sponge of the cake was moist and had agoodsoaked texture. over all i think this dessert was very good.

verygoodtex-mex; great mexican courtyard/patio ambiance; food is consistently very good; mature, attentive wait staff; margaritas are made with fresh squeezed lime juice and real sugar.... they use a classic, traditional, old school recipe from mexico like you would get in mexico city or acapulco. their guacamole is the best on the planet; the classic plate is the "natalata mexican plate" it's a nice sample of everything tex-mex; like mi tierra, los barrios, casa rio and jacala, la fonda is a "must visit" destination restaurant that everyone needs to try! enjoy!

an sa institution. we do not think of this place often...but when we do we are happy we did. first class service withgooddrinks, atmosphere that makes you feel you are in ones home, and not a restaurant, and food that is old school good. we shall be back!

dinner. i have to say this beats the places down on the river walk. the food overall was good, the chips and queso was verygoodand someone else posted that the flour tortillas are store bought??? they are definitely homemade as well as the butter they serve!

we would come back and try something different.

i recommend it!

the people were really nice & the drinks came quickly, but the food was not asgoodas the prices indicated. the cheese enchiladas were not fully cooked thru. at best, it's an "eh."

good food, but...... i enjoy la fonda,goodfood great local. on one visi
i heard and saw the hostess being rude to the waitstaff, snapping her fingers..etc.. i will not return again.
