la bottega

love. love la bottega! perfect on a sunny day when they open the patio..you can build your own sandwich with divine ingredients, soups are delicious! i have yet to try the pasta because i crave the sandwich everytime i go, thats what i get, but friends and family rave about the pasta dishes as well! supergoodsalad.

la bottega while small, is quaint, inviting and warm. the wait staff was very pleasant and friendly. my only criticism like so many restaurants these days is usually hard chairs...just not enough cushion for the pushin. mind out of gutter please. i know restaurants don't want you tying up there table all night. but would a little padding kill ya?

anyway the food was excellent. we split the charcuterie plate(nice size), and split the caesar salad also excellent, fresh and not too much dressing. i did the wine tasting with dinner (3 delightful reds $14 if i recall) then i had a full glass of red from australia with my main course $14 as well. excellent wine slection. so i'm pushing almost $30 in drinks.
entrees: my wife had a delicious hanger steak w/ great flavor and very tender. the demi-glaze on the steak was outstanding! i had the shrimp about 6 nice large ones. cooked perfectly. and we finished off splitting the holiday pumpkin spice cake and two coffees...vg! ok she had a single bite of cake then i told her to get her own... kidding i shared. ok no i didn't, but i digress.
like high quality restrauants (and this is absolutely one of them) and particularly if you drink alcohol...why yes i do and i believe i will, with the tip per couple our meal was just over $120.00. for those of you who like to dine and eatgoodquality food. la bottega should definitely be on your list of places to go. i really give this restaurant 4.5 stars!

disappointing lamb. we have gone to la bottega for at least 3 years on a regular basis. it's one of our favorite places in vancouver. tonight i ordered the lamb and it was the worst lamb i've ever had out. it was very tough, under cooked, and lacked flavor. maybe it was a bad night, etc. the wine wasgoodand my husband's chicken was good. we'll try again hoping it was a fluke.

great food and service. everytimr i am there it's agoodexperience. different items which keeps it interesting.

favorite little spot in the couv. here for several weeks in vancouver on business - struggled to find some local,goodeats. this place has cute, quaint charm.goodservice. great wine list that's not pretentious or imposing - just great variety and styles. food is amazing: pasta is fresh and authentic. reasonably priced. laid back, romantic setting. haven't purchased any items from the deli or pastry counters, but plan on it!!

disappointed on birthday. have been here twice in past years, but last night was a big dissappointment. the panzanella salad was too salty & hard to eat as the bread was not in chunks, the anchovies in the caesar were very bony & too salty per my caeasar-saavy husband. his red sauce on the bucatini was awful, but the meatballs were tasty. my gnocchi was too salty, but the beef tips were tender. the kitchen was slow and we smelled smoke for awhile. the server was slow to fill our waters and visited while we waited for her to pick up our payment. we will not be returning and will drive all the way to portland to gilda's the next time we wantgooditalian food.

great taste, a little pricey. you definitely pay a premium for the ambiance, but the food is great. we both had the mushroom and leek ravioli with balsamic cream sauce. the sauce was divine. that said, pasta is really cheap, the markup to eat some here is pretty steep. i love the oil and balsamic, it's a guilty pleasure even at home. also,goodthing they serve it, you'll need it to become full.

la bottege. looking forward to returning to this busy, local gem of a restaurant. try the mushroom soup made from scratch. i thinks the ambiance is asgoodas the food. cheers.
