awful food, awful service: the only reason to come here is the view.... unfortunately, this used to be a family favorite back in the day. today, not at all. the food was disgusting - how do you mess up basicbreakfastfood? service was appalling, server was rude and gave the impression that she did not even want to be working! food, juices, hot cocoa were sloppily made and delivered. very unprofessional wait staff - we were seated against the wall of windows and we could all hear them gossiping amongst one another near the kitchen. it's bad enough to make diners feel uncomfortable while you wait on them, but even more so to subject us to hearing about your personal matters! additionally, when i privately asked to speak with the manager, he seemed unaffected, unapologetic, and unconcerned. what a disappointing way to finish off a great trip up to haleakala for sunrise. really, the only reason you'd come here nowadays is to see the view. and if you've come from visiting haleakala or anywhere up in kula, you're not missing much. this is no longer the only place to dine in kula. there are other options that offer better service and superior food. and, for the record, i'm not a tourist. family and friends have also remarked about the decline in service and food quality at kula lodge. hope they get things straightened out.
