good food, good service. my wife and i hadbrunchat kramer's on saturday. we were seated right away. i normally eat a lite breakfast so i had just the grits and the corn fritters. both were great. the only problem was there was a smell of garbage (not from this restaurant), so next time we will probably dine in.

low keybrunchand late nightsnacks. minimal decor in the cafe part and lovelybrunchfood that is much more low key than a lot of other spots in dc. this place is great to pop in early or late with a friend, browse the books, and chat over a drink.

went forbrunchthis morning and had a lovely time. friendly service from the hostess and server. i love how everybrunchmeal comes with eggs and bacon and fruit. i hate having to choose between sweet and salty for breakfast and i didn't have to do that here.

i want to like it, but.... i'm all for supporting local institutions, and i will continue to shop for books here, but other than a quick drink or dessert (blueberry pie is awesome), not sure i'd eat here again.

the tables are really crowded together. service is always just passable. a token for the bathroom - really? and the food, while eatable, is overpriced. thebrunchparticularly seems like a good deal, but the "selection of muffins" that comes with it is really a plate of stale mini muffins they put on the table when you sit down. and the "fresh fruit" that comes with it is really one wedge of grapefruit or pineapple as garnish on your plate. so in the end, the 15 or so bucks actually just buys you an average omlette and some fried potatoes. not that great of a deal.

great buzz - nice place for weekend brunch. it was a lovely sunny winter's day when my friends took me to kramerbooks for saturdaybrunchas it's meant to be one of the trendy spots in dupont circle. there is a nice vibe to the place - a good space designed to satisfy both one's intellect and appetite.

it took us awhile to be showed our tables (the front of house was off somewhere and not simply doing what she was meant to be doing - showing guests their tables), and it seemed there was no clear demarcation of responsibilities for wait staff. but when we were eventually showed our table by the manager, our server was prompt and polite. our orders were taken efficiently and food was served quickly.

our entrees were tasty enough, though not the best i've ever had the pleasure of tasting in a bistro/café of similar ilk. the coffees were weak and somewhat forgettable.

but having said that, it's still a place that draws crowds which gives the café a great buzz. nice to have visited!

worth the wait. found this on this site when looking for a breakfast on the way to downtown. neat little place, and was very busy on a sunday morning (a good sign in my book). bustle-y and tight -- do not expect to have private conversation -- with abrunchdeal with oj and tasty little poppyseed muffins included.

good food and large portions (i never leave good food, but did this time), maybe even slightly too large if i had to make a call.

got a crabcake and asparagus benedict and my only complaint is that the egg was truly poached, so a little wet in spots. most places "hard poach" automatically, so that is on me for not asking as much as on them. the crabcake was real lump crab as advertised, which is not common for "just a breakfast" place, and very good.

wandering out, there is also a great little bar with around a dozen eclectic beers on tap, from common stuff like stella and new castle to local brews and off-the-wall treats like brooklyn brewery black chocolate stout, rogue dead guy, and abita turbodog. though it was around 11 am and i was obviously not stopping to drink, the bartender offered a sample of fordham light lager when i mentioned i'd never heard of it.

overall, a nice little find, but if you want fast service, go when they're not busy.
