knife & fork

a big disappointment as i started tasting the food......

          when me and my friends where looking for a good non-veg restaurant, we foundknife& fork, with a good rating in zomato.  so we had ordered for mutton sheek kebab, butter chicken, chicken kasturi kebab, chicken biriyani and mutton dum biriyani. as the food came, it was looking too good. 
          when we tasted the much expected biriyani, there is no flavor, no masalas. it was completely stale. the mutton sheek kebab was also below average. but for a little relief the butter chicken and chicken kasturi kebab were good. if you wish to have some biriyani never go there.

decided to give my ma an off today and
picked up lunch fromknife& fork,
prahladnagar. wasn't in a mood to go out and eat so i thought i'd just pick up some food, besides i'd also heard some real good stuff about this place from a few fellow foodies. placed an order for :
1. murg ka khurchan ( juicy boneless chicken pieces in a mildly sweet gravy)
2.knifeand fork special chicken (stuffed chicken breast, filled with kheema) in a delicately spicy gravy.
3. naans, laccha paratha, roomali roti.

the food was precisely ready in the time frame they'd given me. the place is rather small as i checked while making the payment and it probably could get noisy at times. the journey
back home was particularly difficult
considering i had all this good smelling food right next to me in the car. i also observed that they'd packed it really nicely, sealing the plastic containers and also labeling them.

once the veil was lifted, it was a pleasurable sight to me and my family. damn, the chicken
looked so juicy and soft that i could only
imagine what eating it would be like. one bite and i was convinced that it'd be a hit and it definitely turned out that way. the chicken breast was soft and adequately stuffed and the mild spicy gravy to go with it only escalated
the whole taste to a new level. i'd like to
similarly say the same regarding the khurchan, the chicken was tender and tasted wonderful. the roomali roti went well with these dishes. rich creamy gravies and some finely cooked chicken to boot. what else do you need?
overall i'd give a strong 5/5 to both these items although my final rating is 4.5 as this was my first experience here.these two dishes are something i'd highly recommend as well. it was sheer joy having these for lunch along with some chilled dr. pepper. the drink
is one of the finest cold drinks for me after thumbs up. it made me burp out in
contentment several times.

the overall cost was approximately 660.

been searching for non-vegetarian outlet for quite a time, amazed to end it.
amazingly this one is owned by gujarati yet nothing gujarati reflections to any preparations.
5 spice tandoori chicken, a new dish introduced by the well known non veg restaurantknife& fork, prahladnagar.
haven't tasted such a dish. awesome cooked, well merinated the combination of the spices is perfectly aligned to keep the taste smooth and surprising.
secondly the other new dish i.e. chicken lahsuni tikka, is for all those foodaholics who love a taste of garlic in their chicken, all balanced with the chicken and well cooked.

no disrespect to any vegetarians, they serve equally satisfying various dishes.

must visit again and again for different delightful surprises.

here i try yet another one owing to high recommendations from foodie friends!
outcome- happy as hell!
knf bole tohknifeand fork, prahladnagar- where i had my dinner with friends tonight!
one of them being a strict jain, it was difficult taking them to a place which serves veg-nonveg!! 'was adamant'
so the dinner had a big tnc- the food will be without any onion/garlic! options limited themselves, as they don't serve any starters which are jain! 'sad'
so we ordered for the regular basic dinner.....dal, subzi, naan etc.
paneer tikka lababdar - huge paneer chunks in finest red gravy, do try!
dal tadka- perfect! vegetable makhanwala- similar gravy, nevertheless yummy!
the roomali rotis too, a must try, they're super soft n fluffy.
the food was overall just fantastic and finger-licking good!! (ok, literally!)
faced 2 very unavoidable hitches though- the a/c wasn't great enough, given that it's a small place though!
we were seated right outside the kitchen door, so my jain friends had a problem adjusting to the smells emanating from the kitchen! 'still would ignore the fact and go with another set of friends'
ambience- none really, small place with 4-5 tables and slightly stuffy!
food taste and quality - a lip-smacking 5/5
cost- 6/5 atleast for vegetarian (cost for 3- just ₹630)!!
p.s. try going in a little early, and if possible, try and get a parcel/ home delivery!!

tandoori chicken was good but chicken fried rice was full of garlic & ginger which killed the mildness of the dish.
fresh lime water was good but quantity was very less......overall experience was not satisfying as my expectations was high according to last orders fromknife& fork

after such a long break due to lockdown and having vegetarian all the time
finally i found something good to eat.. i have ordered chicken tandoori and chicken angara dish was above expection level i have never found this level of non veg item in ahmedabad so long... i will surely recommendknife& fork to others as well.

am a regular customer ofknifeand fork, foods good, hygienic and taste is good. my fav are chicken munchow soup, chilli chicken and 5 spice tandoori chicken.

their food is best and specially cream of chicken soup is one of the best ever. but as for gaon style fish curry, they make is punjabi style curry. they don't have knowledge of pure marathi/maharashtra fish gaon style curry with the curry involving coconut crushed gravy and more. as far as i know, nobody knows fish gaon curry in entire ahmedabad. gaon fish curry none has the knowledge. those who has knowledge will come on face and restaurant will come close and have fame. but for the past 2 years, i haven't heard a name.knifeand fork claims to have or say that we make  gaon style fish curry, but they will place you only punjabi style gravy fish gravy. but actually they don't have actual knowledge of makin gaon/maraithi/maharastrian curry.  don't ever order gaon style curry from here. you will get fooled. but fish tikka is best here and also cream of chicken

it happens that sometimes small outlets makes big impact on customers mindset and this outlet is one of them..knife& fork is basically very small outlet but is having existence into 5 different locations in ahmedabad and that shows that it has its own set of customers.. outlet being very small in size is one concern as you cannot accommodate more customers at a go and also because of small size tables kept seems to be congested more..

talking about food, i ordered executive vegetable lunch which was having 2 vegetables, 2 roti, dal, rice & sweet.. food was too good in taste.. i liked more as it was bit spicy also.. quantity was good as compare to rates they charge..

the only concerning part seems to be size of restaurant, otherwise highly recommended..

chicken was not fully cooked in chicken biryani.
it was my first time for chicken biryani fromknifeand fork. suggestion to go with egg biryani.

i came to know of the place from a friend who stopped by here for lunch about 4 years back. i wonder how i did not try it then. it was only sometime back that i decided to order from here and i so wish i had done that earlier. great food, affordable prices and good services ;knifeand fork is a combination of all. this review is for the last two times that i ordered and missed writing about. we ordered a butter chicken boneless, butter naan, murgh parda biryani, home style chicken and tandoori malai chicken. what really pleased me was the portion size for each dish. the tandoori malai chicken was delectable with mild flavours and juicy. the butter chicken was good and the naan went perfectly well with it. despite being a parcel, the naan was soft and easy to chew( my biggest concern while ordering indian breads). the parda biryani js cbicken biryani with a layer of egg on top and hence the name 'parda'. it tasted great too. the home style chicken tasted like it and i really loved it. lovely flavours and not very rich. on one of the ocassions, they accidently sent me egg curry in place of the chicken and once i informed them about the mistake, they immediately sent me the dish i originally ordered( mistakes are human, accepting them takes a lot of courage). thumps up to the courteous staff. it's been a few days that i ordered but the place definitely deserves a mention. better late than never.

it was a rainy day and my taste buds craving for spicy non veg food led me to this place! it is a small place and hence i would just give them 2.5/5 for the ambience. the staff is very courteous and service is very good....so this can be rated a 4/5. then comes the soup.. i had ordered the chicken manchow soup which was really yumm and thick.. just the way i like it!😉 then for the starters i ordered the five spice tandoori chicken. i definitely recommend this dish if you are a spice lover. then followed the main course with perfectly cooked rice, creamy and tasty chicken curry and the naan! therefore for the food i would rate them 4.5/5 deducting points only for the presentation.
one more thing to add on.. this place is very pocket friendly and i believe they are charging a very reasonable price for their food!
so this place gets a thumbs up!!

i cross this outlet everyday from office to home and home to office. but never thought of stepping in because of the less space and the ambience isn't so great.

hey guys! don't take that into consideration. the food taste and the quality is just awesome and you can have a very good food with awesome taste without burning a hole in your pocket. this place is awesome and the food is just too good. would love to be here again and again. awesomeknifeand fork. 

try the paneer stuff here (for veggies). it's fab. service is also quick and the owner is polite and friendly. the staff needs some training skills but it is understood given the fact that we are in india and they are least bothered about customer service. but overall, nice food and good taste.

my review is strictly about the delivery experience that i've had withknifeand fork since i've never actually dined here.

getting the cons out of the way first, sometimes it takes a really long time to deliver the food (took me 1 hour and 10 minutes to get my order once), but besides that there's not much i can complain about.

since my workplace is nearby, i've ordered a lot of food from here over the past few months and i must say thatknifeand fork has always been top notch for me so far. the tandoori items, the butter chicken, the rotis, everything has been great. 

i would really like to suggest them to improve delivery timings, the food tastes great otherwise. if you want to eat non veg food, this place is definitely a good choice for it. i recommend the 5 spice tandoori chicken which is one of their specialities!

november 2016 update: stopped ordering from here as they have no payment option except cash on delivery. i asked them on them on the phone and was bluntly refused options. i think its a little too high headed.

september 2016 update:knifeand fork is turning out to be a hit and miss game these days. i am a regular customer of their's and my last few experiences of ordering weren't consistent. i don't know how you can go wrong with the simplest of chinese preparations.

their paneer chilly dry, chicken manchurian, veg/chicken hakka noodles have become very inconsistent. sometimes the flavouring is just perfect and sometimes its extremely bad. there is no middle path.

older review: just awesome. i live close to prahladnagar and this has become one of my go to places now. everything from their indian to their chinese is delicious. i would recommend to go there and eat even though its a small place. the food feels freshly prepared and rightly spiced. their rotis could do with some improvement though.had the following till date: mutton masala, paneer butter masala, chicken manchurian, paneer manchurian gravy, paneer chilly. hope to try their biryani someday.
