dukes the palm
had iftar dinner (set menu) yesterday, it begin with pakoras & ramadan juices which were good. starters were excellent. mains came with lot of curry options (fish curry, chickencurry, lamb curry, palak paneer, dal makhani & biryani) which all looked & taste the same. didnt like the fish curry butchickenbiryani was good.  other curries were just fine. desserts kheer, firni were not good but carrot halwa was nice.

may be i should have not gone for iftar set menu. ala carte menu looks good with lot of bbq options. ambiance lighting was very dim; hard to make out which curry was in which pot.

i went with friends for ramadan dinner at khyber restaurant. located on a high floor, the restaurant has some amazing views of the palm and jbr. they have a balcony with a telescope if you'd like to look around. the restaurant has interiors similar to forts in india and lots of seating options inside as well as outside on the terrace. the tables are spread out so you have a semi private dining experience with windows all around on one side so you don't miss out on that view.

get set gobble
they have a set menu for ramadan. we started off with dates, papads, pickles and a selection of their ramadan drinks. i personally liked the tamarind and apricot juice. we also ordered their mango lassi which was so refreshing that we ended up calling for 3 repeats!

the starters were served in individual platters. we had the keema seekh kebab which was quite good, murg chaap that was very tender, vegetable pakoras that were crunchy and cocktail samosas that were delicious. overall it was a well prepared platter with a good portion size.

the main course was served as a thali which was quite thrilling. we were expecting serving bowls with the curry but the personalized thali was a welcome sight. we got the murg methi which had a delicious curry, rara gosht with tender meat, prawn usmani korma which had a cashew curry base, paneer makhani which was just lovely and dal makhani. in the centre of the thali was a big bowl with a generous portion of theirchickenbiryani. personally the rice did not have enough spices but mixed with the raita it was absolutely scrumptious.
they served the breads on the side which were a mix of naan, lachha parantha and tandoori roti.

lastly the desserts also came in separate platters. there was kheer, shahi tukda with rabri and ras malai with the last one being my favourite.

i visited khyber thursday night to try their “summer menu”
khyber is located at dukes the palm on the 14th floor and gives you a stunning marina view.

as i entered i felt like being at a mughal darbar with its paintings, lanterns and massive pots. the staff in indian attire. i loved the over all theme so apt.

they amazing summer spread costs just aed 120/- and is so worth it.

here’s what i had

starters 👇🏼
murgh tikka abeer
makai ki tikki
samosa chaat

well presented and the most amazing tenderchickenever. a must try 👌

main course 👇🏼
dal dhaba
palak paneer
chicken tikka masala
kadai vegetables
mutton rogan josh
jeera rice / naan / roti

amazing rich taste, so authentic to indian mughlai cuisine and not spicy at all.

desserts
rabri
gulab jamun
hands down the best gulab jamun i have ever had. ❤️

besides the summer menu we also ordered khyber raan and butterchickenwhich were one of a kind.

i highly recommend a visit to khyber for its exquisite food and excellent customer service. the staff is so polite, accommodating and professional.

khyber deserves a 5⭐️and hena is definitely hooked 😍

khyber had lovely views of the palm and great food with wonderful service to match. we opted for the set menu(very reasonably priced). it was quite extensive and you can ask for refills. the starters were delicious and i asked for an extra helping. among the mains the dal makhani and butterchickenwere outstanding, while the mutton rogan josh was below average. the big disappointment were the rabri and matka kulfi in the desserts. they were below average

it was our 1st wedding anniversary on 2nd march and we decided to go to khyber for dinner. i think it was one of the best decisions to visit this restaurant as the experience was extremely phenomenal. sous chef mr. omvir and our server rakesh both took care of our food as well as hospitality really well. we chose to go with the set menu that came with starters of two different kinds- chaats and tandoori and the main course had a massive spread ofchickenbiryani, raita, palak paneer, butter chicken, dal makhani, mix veg *phew* the list is endless. we loved the starters and the biryani the most, very good quality meat, fragrant rice and the portion size is really great. the staff was sweet enough to get us a sweet little chocolate cake to celebrate our anniversary.

if you're looking for good food with great experience then i'd suggest you head to khyber and go with time in your hand to soak in the experience.

we were at dukes the palm for a staycation during the long weekend and we had booked half board, so we decided to go to khyber due to the ratings i saw online.

since we had a reservation, we were seated immediately, although the service was very slow.

i had ordered a sweet lassi, and i must say that it was too sweet, too much sugar, not worth the 45 dirhams, way too overpriced as well.

as part of the half board option, they offered us the set menu. we are a family of 3.

for the starters, we ordered the fish tikka, reshmi kabab and lamb seekh kabab.

in the menu it was mentioned that the fish was hammour, but i'm quite certain that it wasn't hammour, but something else like kingfish instead.

the mutton seekh kabab was quite smelly, and smell of course affects taste.

the reshmi kabab wasn't the best although it was comparatively better.

for the main course, we ordered dal tadka, butter chicken, and mutton rogan josh.

the butterchickenwasn't really good, it didn't have that sweet, flavourful taste(many people feel that original butterchickenshouldn't be sweet) nor did it have a nice taste like the "original" butter chicken.

the mutton rogan josh was filled with mutton, hardly any gravy, the taste disappointed me.

the dal tadka was comparatively better, not the best but okay.

the naan didn't taste like naan, rather it tasted like a weird mix of phulka and kulcha.

and yes, i must mention the ambience, the music was just very depressing, sadder than ever. it was like the music was set to match with our disappointing emotions.

for dessert, we had matka kulfi, gajar halwa, and rabri.

the matka kulfi wasn't good, it tasted bad, just bad.

the gajar halwa was okay, not really something i would eat again.

the rabri, oh my god, it didn't even taste like rabri, it was just terrible.

the portions of all the food items were also very less, if you ordered the set menu, then it's totally not worth the money as well.

overall, terrible experience, won't visit again, and it is very likely that you will be disappointed after your meal.

a few similar restaurants which have great taste and has value for money are:-

1. gazebo (great indian food - non veg and veg)
2. kamat (great indian food - pure veg)
3. claypot (great indian food and desserts - non veg and veg)
4. shireen (great desserts)
5. kulfilicious (great selection of kulfis)

dropped in for dinner during a staycation at the dukes. the restaurant is located on the upper floor with beautiful views all round of the palm.

we were greeted at the entrance and taken to our table within a few minutes. the restaurant was busy and the outside seating was fully occupied.

we opted for the three-course set menu. the waiter made his recommendations and helped us select our options. the kebabs were awesome, the samosa chaat was mind blowing, the paneer was amazing and the butterchickenwas out of this world. the mutton was a bit undercooked to our liking but the rest of the experience covered up for any lagging in taste.

if you love indian food then khyber is a must visit

i was surprised to get a below average butterchickenat this resturant which claimed to be one of the top 10% in the world. spices were not balanced for many of the dishes and we werent happy. it was also strange to get better kulfi at street for place like kulfilicious than a high end 5 start hotel restaurant. overall, it is very over rated on here. would not recommend. on the bright sode, service was great.

i had booked a table for my wife's birthday. we had tried two dishes from this restaurant and ordered a wine too.

1. mix grill platter (2/5) - the portion was good. but the food had a lot of artifical colors. especially thechickentikka which was part of the platter. thechickenand meat were half cooked and we had to tell them to cook it again. the flavours and spices were missing in the food.

2.chickendum biryani - the rice was cooked to perfection. but again, the missing spices gave an incomplete feeling.

3. the service was quite average in comparison to other fine dinings.

overall an authentic indian taste is what we came for and were left disappointed.
