this restaurant was way overrated and the food was way overpriced.
would not come back for thai food.
by the way, white elephant was way more authentic and more affordable!

we love this place. i signed up on urbanspoon just because i wanted to write a good review about this place. me and my husband don't usually branch out too far from our favorite restaurants but decided to try something new and this place was amazing. the food was delicious, the service was fantastic they were always coming by to see if we needed anything and always clearing our table when we were finished with something. the atmosphere was relaxing and romantic and we felt that the price was very reasonable. we had 2 appetizers, 3 entrees and a few drinks and would have nothing but good things to say about any of the dishes we tried. love this place and will definately be going back.thanks for the great service dao and all the ladies that also came by.

last on my list!. with all the hype i was very excited to try the food. i don't even know where to start. the portions were extremely small. the normal(not large) sized foil take out dishes were half filled at best. for $15+ per dish i actually expected to get some food. there was no flavour in anything. thai food should be a beautiful blend of subtle fresh ingredients. this food was a blend of over cooked watery meat with an extra order of green peppers. honestly, if i wasn't leaving town immediately i would go ask for my money back. the rose garden and white elephant are 100 times better in taste, value and quality of food. very disappointed. i will never go back.

best around!. khao san thai is by far the best authentic thai food you can get anywhere outside of thailand. the owner and staff are amazing and the food follows suit. i've been known to order takeout from here twice a week or more because you just can't beat it. don't miss out on this gem!

delicious fresh food, good service, beautiful restaurant. i love thai food and this is my favorite thai restaurant in the city.

the food is phenomenal. just like the thai food i've had in thailand. it's authentic and they use fresh ingredients. the presentation is impressive, and the service is really good.
the decor of the restaurant brings me back to thailand, it's cozy and beautiful.
you must eat here!!!!!

you may have noticed but we've been on a bit of a thai kick recently. there is something about the fresh and bright flavours, spicy heat and family style dining that we love. our favourite thai place to date has to be juree's , but after hearing all the buzz about khao san thai kitchen which has opened up on 17th ave we had to give it a try.

great service, great food, accommodating to food allergies, and coconut rice that didn't just smell like coconut it actually tasted like it - fantastic!!!

one of the best restaurants i've been to!. i have worked in the restaurant industry for more than 10 years, and this restaurant hits every note perfectly! the decor is beautifully thai without being over the top. despite arriving only 45 minutes before close, we were invited in warmly. the place was full, but the staff cleaned a table as soon as one became available. the service was very good, with prompt check-backs when our appy and meals arrived. the food was amazing. we had the satay and for mains the pan nang curry with beef and the beef short ribs coupled with some coconut rice. the thai iced tea is a must try, so delicious and creamy, nothing like western iced tea at all. overall i would give this restaurant a 9/10, and will be coming to this place every chance i get!

thai gem on 17th. what a lovely experience we had when we dined at khao san. my boyfriend's mom loves thai food and every time she visits, we always slip in a new thai restaurant - and we weren't sorry that we slipped khao san in this time. the service was impeccable - really, food and ambience aside, it was the service that made this restaurant stand out for me. with true thai hospitality, complete with the slight bow of the head and the lilt in their intonation of questions, their smiles and helpfulness matched their knowledge of each of the dishes. while the prices and the portions are typical of any thai restaurant downtown, go for the service. say sawasdee to khao san because i hope it stays around for a long time! two thumbs up!
