khao san thai kitchen

great place with spicy food. 
we have only been there once during our visit to calgary. the two curry dishes and one soup we ordered may not be their signature dishes, but they tasted quite well, especially the pretty sour and very spicy creamy tom yum soup.

went here once a few years ago and it was spectacular. it was nice to have thai food that was asthetically pleasing compared to "fast food thai" and the flavor was there to back up too. i indulged in the cashew chicken and one of the currys they had on the list (can't remember which one now). definitely a good spot to try.

*when i was walking to the bathrooms i was about to pass another lady who worked there in the same hallway and she stepped to the side to let me pass. excellent customer service.

love this place, amazing food, wine, friendly staff and great ambiance! great for date night and tons of choices, a few must tries that are unique dishes are the scallops and the braised beef, the spring rolls and pad thai is a must as well!

beautiful, simplistic cozy ambience!  food is liberally portioned for its price. service is great, was constantly asked about the food, and made effort to make conversation with customers.

i love thai food. just the different varieties of food you can get.
my gf took me to khao san one day after work. its gorgeous inside and the service was very good. very friendly too
we ordered their poung chom-poo  which was soo pretty the presentation
and few curry dishes and shared.
the dishes were tasty but i found that the price was alittle high compared to most thai restaurants ive been to.

i would still recommend checking it out :)

great thai food. found it a little pricey and strange you had to buy the rice separate from the stir fry. great atmosphere. can get busy on weekend so book a reservation.

i always suggest khao san thai kitchen to my friends when they're craving some thai food but want a good atmosphere and great service as well. it's convenient location on 17th ave makes it easy to go out for drinks too! i would recommend the pad thai and thai iced tea - it's fantastic!

we were greeted at the door by a very welcoming host....  although the snow made us extra excited for some delicious thai food.  poung chom-poo-   steamed stuffed dumpling, minced ground chicken, roasted crushed peanuts, thai spices these beautiful dumplings are not just for show.  when we first bit into it, we got a great burst of sweetness and crunchiness.  

finally found great thai food in calgary!. this is far and away the best thai food i have had in calgary. moving from victoria b.c. i left behind sabhi thai, that was the best thai restaurant and i would go once at least every 2 weeks. moving here i have been disappointed over and over with the processed tasting thai food that calgary has to offer. some friends invited us to go to khao san as they had been told that it was great. the food was outstanding. started with the spring rolls that each came sticking out of a shot glass that was filled with a sweet chilli sauce. great presentation and the spring rolls were delicious! we had the yellow curry and it was amazing! the pad thai was great and the fried rice was also full of flavour. everything we ordered was a 10 out of 10. the service was very friendly and attentive, always a nice smile and we were checked on frequently. my only complaint is that i live in the nw so i will take me 20-25 mins to get there every time, and after that meal not going is not an option!

khao san thai kitchen is not only the best thai restaurant in calgary, it is where we go to be with friends. whether we're celebrating special occasions, showing off to our friends with fine dining, or just plain hungry, it's the first place we consider going. sam, dao, and all the staff treat us like part of the family and we feel valued and respected with every visit.
customer service is high on our list, and if there's great tasting food accompanying that, you have a lifetime, loyal customer. khao san thai has the best of the best thai chefs from thailand to further romance your palate to ecstasy. wow! can't get any better than that!
see you all there! i'll be the one with the big smile, stuffing my face, and being served like a queen.

fantastic!. this is a small, quiet restaurant, with really great food and friendly service. enjoyed everything about khao san. you must give it a try.

great choice. what a great restaurant. friendly and attentive staff, excellent food, relaxing atmosphere and reasonable pricing ... you couldn't ask for more. i had the chicken pa-nang curry and pad thai ... delicious !

gracious hosts, lovely decor and excellent service. food was delicious throughout. perhaps a bit pricier than other that restaurants in calgary but we'll worth the extra. treat yourself.

good quiet location for supper. had a late supper at 8:45pm last night. very friendly and prompt staff. had the coconut green tea, spring rolls, and prawn pad thai. everything was great. i would go back again.
